    • 2. "Mustapha" by Queen: "Queen is my favorite rock band. I think Freddie was the most musical of them all, and when teamed with Brian May, the music became legendary. Nothing beats Brian May's tone on his guitar and Freddie's voice has made me insanely jealous since I was a boy."
    • 3. "Nice Work If You Can Get It" by Thelonius Monk: "With flawless technique and one of the biggest sounds around, I can only shake my head in amazement when I think about Monk playing like this at the time this recording was made. He embodies jazz - swing, improvisation, theme. This is a perfect solo piano piece. Duke would have been proud."
    • 4. "Black Night" by James Booker: "You don't have to be a vet to know about dogs, and you don't have to be downtrodden to know about the blues - but I'm sure a German shorthaired vet would have pooches lined up around the kennel – and I'm sure James Booker's life only added to the way he sings and plays this song. I think this is one of the best piano / vocals I've ever heard."
    • 5. "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" by Journey: "Two words: Steve Perry. What was he, 19 or 20 when he did this? Unreal . . . he's still my hero."
    • 7. "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen" by Louis Armstrong: "Pops saw his share of trouble, indeed. If I could play and sing like him on this track, all of my troubles would be gone. You think it can't get any better after the vocal – but when he picks up the horn, it's like God himself is playing."
    • 8. "People Say" by The Meters: "I love all the Meters' tunes. This song is about unification – and the groove, as always, is ever-present. Leo, Art, George, and Zig were true innovators. Everyone, including me, tries to copy them. No one ever comes close."
