Since making his recording debut in 1986, Lyle Lovett has become one of popular music's most eclectic and colorful performers. Never quite comfortable in Nashville, he initially gained inspiration from the great Texas songwriters. And yet, while his boots may be cut from Texas rawhide, his brilliance comes from the vast sounds of America's pop landscape.

If the country charts didn't latch on to Lyle Lovett for very long, a massive audience certainly did.
