Having seen the Twin Towers fall firsthand, Gerard Way was changed forever by the smoke and the screaming of that fateful day — filled with words the former animator had to project amongst racetrack riffs, rim-shot drums, and wobbly bass lines. "Skylines and Turnstiles" was the first rotten and ragged fruit of My Chemical Romance's labors, which would soon be rewarded with striking magazine covers and platinum sales. In just four years the group has grown more than most bands do over a decade, moving from bloodletting emo (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, featuring the lung-puncturing production of Thursday front man Geoff Rickly), to curtain-raising punk (Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge) and even a good ol' fashioned concept album complete with Queen references, glam rock guitars, and hooks as huge as the Goodyear blimp (The Black Parade).

MCR IS FOREVER THE GREATEST!
Best f-ing band in the entire f-ing world. All of these are great songs. Be sure to listen to some of their early stuff too because those were the days where it was just filled with fantastic raw, pure, passionate, melodic energy. I loved it.
