  • The Basics

    F. Scott Fitzgerald's contention to the contrary, Paul Simon has engineered a great American second act. As the songwriting half of Simon & Garfunkel, the native New Yorker penned some of the defining folk-rock hits of the '60s. In 1972, he emerged as a solo artist, scoring hit singles with "Mother and Child Reunion" and "Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard," and never looking back.

  • Next Steps

Paul Simon maintains a fascination with music from around the world, having introduced many mainstream music fans to the sounds of Africa and South America via the hit albums Graceland and The Rhythm of the Saints. Simon has managed to incorporate a wide range of exotic elements into his increasingly complex music without compromising the intimacy of his lyrics.

  • Deep Cuts

Grammy Albums of the Year Still Crazy After All These Years and Graceland represent the twin peaks of Simon's solo career, but more low-key collections ranging from his self-titled 1972 set to 2000's You're the One are rife with irresistible melodies and wise, melancholic lyrics.

  • Complete Set

Paul Simon may have been one-half of one of the most successful acts of the '60s, but his split with Art Garfunkel hardly slowed him down. Songs such as "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover," "Graceland," and "The Obvious Child" defined the '70s, '80s, and '90s every bit as much as "Mrs. Robinson" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" defined the Simon & Garfunkel era. Paul Simon's solo career is proof that, contrary to F. Scott Fitzgerald assertion, there are indeed second acts in American lives.

Paul Simon: R &R

What a wonderful collection of his songs! But.......It may be karma (?) that he released his latest just a few months after some commercial included "Only Living Boy in New York" as it's soundtrack. Which makes me ask this: Why isn't that song on this listing? Every time that commercial airs, I'm humming it for the rest of the day!
As you wander through these songs, you're reminded of just how talented he is. From a simple "Red Rubber Ball" (yep, that was him with Garfunkle) to the complex harmonies and rhythms of his African inspired music, the man kept growing, keeps growing on.
If you're reading this Paul, may I take this small opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful, beautiful songs you have given us, both to sing and to think about. I don't think I know of anyone else who has always made me run to the record store (hah!) as fast as you. Ok, maybe CSN& sometimes Y, but that's about it. ;)
I'm so glad you're back again. Play on, sir. Oh please, keep playing on!

I thought it was obvious, but ...

some people don't pay attention - this is for paul simon SOLO songs. The Only Living Boy in New York is a Simon & Garfunkel song.
