Buy This A+++

This one captures all of the best Crowes songs in one collection. Actually, every song they have recorded could be considered among their "best," but this collection does justice to their career, though I would have liked a heavier emphasis on their most recent stuff or even a cut from their Jimmy Page collaboration.

Need reviews!

I'm just now getting turned on to the Crowes and would appreciate reviews from long-time fans as to how thorough this collection is.

Response to Paul Goode

Another reviewer wanted to know if this is a good encapsulation of the Crowes. I have to admit I may not be the most qualified person to answer that question, but I think I have heard just about every studio album the Crowes have released. I think this list (Complete Set) does a good job of marking important signposts along the way. Personally, I would recommend you pick up one or two of their most recent live releases (the live Fillmore shows from December 2010), and then fill in from there. The Crowes also have their own live website where you can buy tons of their live concerts. Their albums ARE great, but I think live they often add to what was recorded because they are such a great band that only continues to improve. That said, I think each album, Shake Your Money Maker, Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, Amorica, Three Snakes and One Charm, Lost Crowes, By Your Side, with Jimmy Page, Lions, Freak N' Roll, the solo albums, Warpaint, and Before the Frost all contain great songs, but you really have to sift through them for yourself and see which to get. Again, though, personally, I would start with one of their recent live concerts (because they are so amazing).
