Podcast Description
The 365 Days of Astronomy Podcast is a project that is publishing one podcast per day, 5 to 10 minutes in duration, for all 365 days of the year. The podcast episodes are written, recorded and produced by people around the world. We are looking for individuals, schools, companies and clubs to provide 5 - 10 minutes of audio for the daily podcast. You can do as few as 1 episode or up to 12 episodes (one per month, subject to our editorial discretion). Our goal is to encourage people to sign up for a particular day (or days) of the year.

Fun, but the theme song is hard to take
I like this podcast very much, but it starts with the same theme song every week. Now, the song is cute, and clever, once or twice. Once you've heard it enough times, it becomes obnoxious, and I have stopped this podcast and moved on because I was not in a place where I could fast forward past the theme music. Other than that rather small objection, this is a quality podcast that could probably stand being longer on average.
An Informative, Educational, and Fun Way To Learn About Astronomy
This is the 400 year anniversary of Galileo turning his telescope towards the heavens and taking the first steps in understanding the motions of our solar system and our place in it. To commemorate this occation, 2009 has been declared the International Year of Astronomy. This podcast is a coordinated effort between several great astronomy podcasters and bloggers (Planetary Radio, Slacker Astronomy, Jodcast, Astronomy Cast, and Universe Today to name a few of the more recognizable ones). “Professional” podcasters, citizen podcasters, professional astronomers, amateur astronomers, and interested hobbyists are all contributing top notch materials each and every day of the year to help inform and educate non-astronomers about not only astronomy, but resources and issues that impact astronomy and what we see when we look up at the sky. Telescopes, Light Pollution, Space Travel, Observing, Internet Resources, and Historical Discussions are some of the topics already covered. Tune in, get informed, support the podcast, and even contribute material if you care to. Where else can you support such a noble cause while getting both educated and entertained!!!!
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Astronomy
This is a great daily podcast covering a wide variety of astronomy-related topics (there is now also a weekly feed). There are podcasts about stargazing, notable celestial objects/events, using astronomical equipment, history of the field, profiles of important astronomers, mythology, and much more. Not much scientific knowledge is necessary and the episodes are educational but not preachy. I tend to be a bit of a history buff so I may be biased, but I especially love the podcasts about mythology and historical ideas about the stars (3/10, 3/12, and 5/6 are among my favorites). I also highyly recommend the Feb. 13 episode, Astronomical References in Shakespeare. The volunteers putting together these podcasts obviously put some serious time and energy into making every episode worth your time. Can't wait for the second half of the year!
