If you're not doing it...

you couldn't possibly understand how much fun it is, until now, that is! Thanks to Alan LeVezu and Eric Brickson for bringing Barbershop out of the closet and into the light. I just joined the San Jose, CA Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) last fall and I've had a wonderful time. I was surprised to find out that the music is so diversified and doesn't necessarily sound like traditional barbershop quartet music. We sing ballads, swing and pop music acapella, which is in it's purest form. The Barbershop quartet music is challenging and fun to sing, as well! If I would have known about the BHS sooner, I would have joined sooner. There is nothing like singing with a group of men from 13 to 90, who are all great singers and who love music as much as I do. The 4-Cast is going to make it possible for others who love singing to find their local chapter and sing! If you think you know what Barbershop is, you need to listen to this podcast so you'll really know the truth. The banter between Alan and Eric is a wonderful example of the fun we have together. Their interviews provide the insight into the commitment we all have to perform to the best of our ability and to constantly improve. It's a wonderful blend of comraderie, fellowship and most importantly, beautiful acapella harmony. It's a great learning experience as well. Alan and Eric, keep up the great work and thanks for doing your part to keep the whole world singing!!!

A Great Addition to a Great Hobby

Barbershop singing is a wonderful, wonderful hobby, filled with the most talented and generous individuals I've had the pleasure of meeting. Nowhere in the musical world (I'm a school music teacher) do you have the joy of creating music like you do in barbershop singing - any four guys, anywhere, can create satisfying music, with only a pitch pipe! Alan & Eric do a great job of finding some of the luminaries of our society - both the men's and women's branches - and bringing their ideas to the public. I heartily recommend listening to this, and going to visit your local chapter for a great evening of song!

So yea...this podcast rocks!
