Podcast Description

Battleship Pretension is a podcast that represents the kind of conversations that film geeks have when they get together. There are strong opinions, in-jokes, obscure references, and wild tangents. And, since Tyler and David are two of the sharpest wits ever fused together, there are laughs aplenty.

Good show

Two guys who know a lot about movies and are unpretenious about their opinions discussing movies. One of the rare podcasts by amateurs discussing a subject where they have both depth and breadth of knowledge. They've grown a lot in front of the microphone. A very listenable show starting from episode 10 or so.

A must for film fans!

I'm not a big podcast subscriber, yet I wait weekly for my dose of Battleship Pretension. Each episode is clever and informitive. The hosts are knowledgeable, and film fans will find much in common with these two. I couldn't give it a stronger recommendation! This is a must for all film fans.

Not bad, but there are better

VERY conversational podcast. The hosts are prone to go off-topic numerous times, crack inside jokes, and forget cast names/movie titles. The style is pretty disorganized, and they tend to move along at a slow pace...but at least they are not constrained by time and can go a little more in depth than other podcasts. They have reasonably good breadth and film knowledge, but tend to focus critiques on story and characters rather than visuals. BEWARE: they throw out a LOT of spoilers, with only a quick word of warning before doing so, which is not enough to hit the pause button. This is really unacceptable when describing some of the lesser-known films to the audience.
