Podcast Description

We're here to help you and your friends learn to like more than one kind of beer. There's lots of different beers to like. Some are made right down the street from where you live and others have to travel half way around the world to get to you. Learn why beer tastes like it does, how other styles came about, and all the verbs you might use to describe what you are tasting. The best part is the home work is beer! Beer School topics include: beer, culture, brewing, stories, guides to styles and much, much, more. You don't have to like every beer but don't drink the same beer day after day.

Customer Reviews

Probably a great show if you live in San Francisco and you're not into beer.

Most of the shows I've listened to are chatter about San Fran bars and brew pubs and unfortunately very little about the actual beers. Content strays off topic for most of the time. Shows are far too long because of this. The reviews of beers are typically "This beer is good" and they say for every beer they have. Not very detailed in their reviews and they select fairly generic commercially accessible beer (ex Sierra Nevada, Bass, Guiness). After listening to a nubmer of shows, I just don't get the feeling these guys have a very deep knowledge of beer.

Unfulfilled Potential

The basic premise of the show is to help get people out of the "one kind of beer' rut. This is a great idea and the hosts clearly have the knowledge and ability to pull it off. Unfortunately, the hosts run every episode so far off the rails that their message is completely lost. Beer School has the potential to be very educational, entertaining and, most importantly, helpful. Beer School would be a killer podcast if John and Motor could simply maintain some focus. 30-45 minutes would be more than enough time to educate and have some fun with the topic. I truly believe that listenership would increase significantly.

Beer School is cool

The hosts, John and Motor are beer lovers that cater to listeners with mono-beer experience with a desire to move on. Their goal is beer education for those that are ready to purchase other than standard convenience store beers. The podcasts vary somewhat in beer educational value, but typically are above average. Even a seasoned beer drinker will find new beer vocabulary in many of the podcsts . Something for everyone: Some campy jokes, "There was this bear that went into the bar..." Ground breaking Podcast descriptive technique, quoting Pantone color numbers for beer color. Unconventional opinions, such as beer in cans is superior. Beer critique, "stays on the inside of the glass until it pours down my throat..." Controversy, the "RockStar Bartender" episode. All in all, a great listen. Send these guys a beer coaster...
