Podcast Description

Analysis of national politics, featuring occasional injections of rumor and innuendo, all offered up by our panel of political insiders, pundits, power brokers, public servants, and, most importantly, plain-speaking Americans from coast-to-coast. The program began as Inside Politics on WBEZ-FM/Chicago in 1980 and offers a fresh, spirited and balanced analysis of national affairs. Beyond the Beltway originates in Chicago, broadcasting there on flagship station WLS-AM, and nationwide on more than 60 major stations. Host Bruce DuMont is one of the Midwest's most quoted political analysts, and also a civic leader, as Founder and President of The Museum of Broadcast Communications, one of only two broadcast museums in the United States. The Museum includes America's only Radio Hall of Fame, which DuMont brought to Chicago in 1991.

Political roundtable

I love this podcast. The usual suspects on the panel cover all spectrums of the political scene and it always makes for some lively discussions. I am a moderate conservative but I can always find an argument with any of the panelists. Mister Dumont does a fantastic job moderating the discussions and keeping the heated arguments under control. Great political entertainment.

Great, but

Great show. I can only listen to it on my computer. When I download it to my iPod, my wife's iPod or directly to my iPhone, it skips and quits. Playback is impossible. Listening to it only on the computer locks me to a chair.

Balanced conversation

An excellent template for any political discussion that is supposed to be unbiased.

Even when the moderator has an opinion he shares it, but gives all sides equal time to provide their point of view.

Also the guests are not media stars, so most are not well known, and unbiased by the hype/media.
