Customer Reviews

Great sound, mediocre plot

"Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Singing Sword" is a fun, if fairly derivative, podcast novel about a dwarven detective in Gangsterland Chicago during the Prohibition. Production wise, this is a top-notch podcast, with multiple voice actors, enjoyable special effects and fun music. On that basis alone, it is a really stimulating podcast. Storywise, it's a bit of a potboiler. The parallel universe that Baddings comes from is rather cookie-cutter for fantasy: orcs, elves, dwarves, and humans. I kept cast John Rhys-Davies as Baddings, for better or worse. As a mystery, it follows standard, rather predictable, genre lines. I had been hoping for some type of twist to make it really stand out, but the ending was practically telegraphed to the listener fairly early into the story. So, all in all, not a bad listen, but I doubt I'll rush out to purchase the print edition.

Way Cool

Excellent Plot. Great Audio.

Entertaining, but not great.

A little hack for a noir-type thing. The premise is unique. He needs a good editor who's in tune with him.
