Podcast Description
You will find our service is informal, warm, and personal. Our worship environment is simple and accepting. We summarize what we do as a fresh and creative expression of the historic Christian faith. The expression is a creative experience through the use of drama, contemporary music, and multimedia, but the core message is one that millions of people have found rich and transforming for over 20 centuries of Christianity. Fresh, alive, and relevant; not stale, boring, or disconnected from the issues we all struggle with today.

To Tell A Story | This week we kick off our To Tell A Story series, with a look at the story we find ourselves in. We discover that all our little stories are part of God’s grander story. We are encouraged to understand in actually participate in God’s story so we wind up with a better story than what we would write on our own. | 1/11/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

How He Loves | In this installment of our Christmas series called He Loves Us, we ask “Why Not?” Not—“Why doesn’t God love us?”—we’ve already seen he loves the whole world, everyone; but “Why is his love not experienced by everyone, why do people say “no” to a God who love us?” As we dig into John chapters 1 and 3, we see 3 possibilities: ignorance of Christ’s true identity, rejection of his true identity, or resistance to his agenda for life. These answers recolor our view of those who we hope to see come to faith and how we should communicate with them. These answers also shift the way we view what is holding us back from fully experiencing God’s love. | 12/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

He Loves Us | This week we’re continuing to talk about how God loves us by focusing in on exactly HOW he loves us. Love is a great thing but unless there’s some kind of action behind it, you have to wonder if it’s really love. If someone says, “I love you” but never shows you how they love you (in either word or deed), something is missing in translation. Luckily, our God isn’t like that. From the past couple weeks we know that He loves us because He IS love. It is in his very nature to love us. Now, we see that God loves us by becoming a human, going through the same stuff we go through, and dying for us. If we have a God who loves us like that, shouldn’t we love each other? | 12/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

He Loves Us | This week in our He Loves Us Christmas series, we ask a dangerous question: Why does God love us? In most people to people relationships, we find that people love us because of what we do for them. But with God it is very different. God loves us because he cares about our desperate spiritual condition, because he is rich in mercy and love, because it pleases him to shower his gracious giving love on us when we don’t deserve it. Living loved is having an accurate view of ourselves and a humble gratitude for the God who loves us. | 12/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

He Loves Us | We kick off our He Loves Us Series by talking about how God is, who Jesus is—the creator and sustainer of all that is. That’s who. This is God with a capital “G.” An audacious claim in the ancient world full of a buffet of small “g” gods and an equally challenging claim in the contemporary world where human passion and technology are often given god-like status in our lives. The liberating truth is this: There is a personal God who is bigger and more powerful than anything we have ever known or will ever experience And this God is reaching out to us from beyond because he loves us. This is great news to those of us who have come to the end of what we can do on our own. | 11/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Money Camel | We wrap up Money Camel with the Oasis of Generosity—those who are generous can count on the financial provision of God. Period. To bring the point home, we join God’s people towards the end of the Old Testament period. A time when the people were focused on themselves and neglecting the work of God—they had plenty for themselves but they were not satisfied. This story, from the obscure book of Haggai, challenges us to be generous towards the work of God, invested in what he is doing, so we will place ourselves in the circle of his blessing and care. | 11/22/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Church Unique | God’s primary way of giving us uniqueness is by giving us spiritual gifts. All of us have been given gifts, special abilities to make a difference for him. Discovering our gifts and then finding ways to use them to serve others has to happen for us to reach our individual and corporate uniqueness. Giving people the space to find and use their gifts instead of conform to all our expectations is part of how we embrace this teaching for each other. This message is a challenge for some of us to get off the stands and into the game. It is also an invitation for others of us to tune up our game by gaining a sense of focus through greater awareness of gifts. Finally it may be a call to let go of some of our judgments of others, who we expect to function in ways that don’t match the way God gifted them. | 10/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Marvel of Conversion | The Marvel of Conversion is that God offers us something amazing that we don't deserve: Wonderful times of refreshment in his presence. To the Jews that Peter preached to, their guilt was in their face: They had crucified God's son. We need to see ourselves in their shoes, completely resistant to God and what he wants for us, passionately opposed. In that place of guilt and vulnerability, he offers us the opportunity to convert...to turn from our sins and turn to him for the healing of our souls. | 8/9/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Marriage Killers: Get them before they get you! | This week we are introduced to Killer #3: Romance as God and its parent, Killer #4: Me as God. Much of our demandingness in marriage comes from elevating an ideal of romance as our god—if we just find the right one, they will make us happy. This drive is a playing out of a deeper god—my happiness and me are the highest priority in life. We are not going to get marriage right until we get God right. This message draws the connection and shows us the way forward. | 6/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Marriage Killers: Get them before they get you! | We start our marriage killers series with a focus on Jesus' primary vision for marriage--oneness. This unity is attached and killed by the self-centered individualism preached in our culture, by the self-centered individualism preached in our culture, by the idea that we should demand our needs be met, by the inherent desire we all have to be happy with the expectation that this is the role of our spouse. When we settle for less than biblical oneness, viewing marriage as a kind of business contract where we each win and lose. | 5/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Follow Me: Get Out Of Your Boat | Jesus invites us out of comfort zones: away from the shore and even away from the boat. It is only when we risk and step out in faith that we encounter a God who demands our worship. Prophet, Priest or King: The Resurrection Gives us a Forever Friend | This week we begin our lead in to Easter and a season of focusing on Jesus, who he is, what that means to us, and what he invites us to do. On Palm Sunday Jesus presents himself to the world as a king, to be followed and honored. And then he goes to the temple and chases away unscrupulous venders who were making shameful profits on the religious needs of worshipers. This is a prophet picture of Jesus, one who calls out injustice and sin and demands change. The picture of Jesus that develops in Matthew 21, is of a world changer. He is good but not tame as C.S. Lewis says. He will not be domesticated by our agenda. Instead we must learn to embrace him and his agenda. | 4/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The End of Guilt - God Ends our Guilt: Part 1-Forgiveness | God's first answer to our guilt is forgiveness. He forgives us through Christ, through what Christ did to take away or carry our guilt. The End of Guilt - The Good and Bad of Guilt | We all hate guilt. We try to remove it from our lives. Yet we feel it all the time. In this talk, we get into the series proper by seeing that some guilt is bad and some guilt is good. Religious guilt (and social guilt) is fruitless. But there is a kind of guilt that motivates us to move closer to God. This is helpful because it creates movement. This talk aims to help people be free of the unhelpful guilt in our lives and to heed the messages God sends. | 2/22/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tough Questions: How Could a Loving God Send People to Hell? | It is suggested that if God is loving, he would not end people to hell--a place of everlasting judgement and torment. This talk challenges us to embrace the sober stakes of eternity--for ourselves and our friends. | 2/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tough Questions: How Can There Be Just One Way? | This sermon will challenge your cultural assumption that there cannot be only one way. Tough Questions: Hasn't Science Disproved Christianity? | God is by definition bigger than science. He functions beyond the realm of the physical world where we can test and verify. In a sense, God is beyond what science can know or prove. Even if there is solid evidence for evolution it does NOT cancel God, it just means that this is the system he engineered to bring about life. Two take-aways: Stop seeing God and science as opposed. Start seeing the bigness and wholly otherness of God. | 1/19/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
111 |
Tough Questions: What Comes First: Knowing or Believing? | We begin with the question of whether faith or fact comes first; knowing or believing. We see that it is a circle, one that leads to the other. This comes against the idea that faith and science are opposites, that faith in God is a blind leap, that just seeing is believing, and that it's impossible to really know God. God brings us reasons to believe, from the Bible and experience. This is the way we approach ALL of life. Through this talk we are invited to allow God to make himself real to us, to open our eyes to the reasons we should trust him. | 1/19/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
