Podcast Description

This is the official "archive" to the "Brutally Honest" shows that have aired on ShockNet Radio since January of 2009. Brutally Honest airs every Saturday starting at 7pm Eastern time on ShockNet Radio. Brutally Honest is an hour-long commentary show dealing with matters of current events, news, entertainment, current trends, future trends, past events… and, yes, sometimes even sports. Brutally Honest is hosted by David 2, an online commentator who has been running a weekly column of the same name since 1996. David 2 started with ShockNet Radio by providing a regular weekly segment on the “American Heathen®” program called “The News Pundit Report with David 2”, and, prior to moving to ShockNet Radio, was also providing online audio commentary on his website. His previous online broadcast experience includes “Brutally Honest – LIVE” and “The Liberty Free-For-All”, which both aired on the now-defunct Talk Liberty Network. David is also the creator, writer, and voice behind the "Minute of Clarity" specials which air on ShockNet Radio. In addition to his online column, David is a nationally-published freelance writer and has written articles in both fiction and non-fiction categories. He is also a former stage actor, having worked in local theater groups in New Hampshire. David brings to ShockNet Radio his unique view of the world, both online and real. Originally a Reagan-era Goldwater conservative, David is an unashamed libertarian whose appreciation of freedom and of the U.S. Constitution is a refreshing change from the plethora of liberal, conservative, and neo-conservative voices that plague talk radio and the cable news channels. He is a graduate of Saint Anselm College, one of the more prestigious liberal-arts colleges in America, and the host of many of the major televised presidential debates. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice, and has studied law, criminology, sociology, psychology, and religion. Some of his pet causes include defending online freedoms, pushing for workable and realistic tax reform, and fighting the scourge of social and religious-based moralism. Customer Reviews

Worst podcast ever

All of the viewpoints expressed by this host are not based in fact but on the opinion that he has. If you are of a liberal mindset you are way better served listening to Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow.

Doesn't sound libertarian

I subscribed to this thinking it was a "libertarian" podcast. In fact, it mostly sounds like a liberal commentary from someone who just does not want to identify himself as liberal. That wouldn't disqualify it in my mind if the commentator wasn't given to making exaggerated and unfounded claims, often in a very course and unrefined manner. Most of the first podcast I heard was a tirade against conservatives and neo-conservatives for criticizing Obama's inability to make good on his unrealistic promises to fix the economy. Blame was laid on conservatives for the state of the economy (when in fact it was a bipartisan problem) and a fair amount of criticism was made about the private sector and its lack of altruism, followed by some in-your-face discussion about how the government can in fact create jobs, contrary to conservative assertions. Perhaps I'm judging the entire podcast too harshly based on one episode, but I'm not perceiving a realistic chance that I'll be getting a well-informed, constitutionalist/libertarian perspective by listening to this. I guess I'll listen to a few more podcasts and edit my review if my opinions change.
