BSF Radioshow 014 | Woo York with Dave the Drummer | He’s been known to sit in the studio for days on end and is prone to saying things like "Phwoar! Get a load of that kick drum!" Sad really. But D.A.V.E.’s dedication to the job has taken him all over the world. Much like one of his recording partners, chris Liberator, D.A.V.E. has made tunes for practically all of the well known record labels in the underground techno scene, and a few of the less known ones as well. His work for Stay Up Forever alongside the Liberators has opened many doors and taken him all over the world. On top of that, he’s taken his studio onto the road as part of his storming live act – not something that should be missed. Apart from the usual London gigs like Trancentral at Tyssen Street in Dalston and Escape From Samsara at The Fridge, Brixton, plus Nottingham and Manchester to name but a few, he’s also played at the Megadog Beach Festival this summer and the Input Records marquee at Dance Valley, Amsterdam. His work rate is non-stop and is planning a live album with Truelove, has had an album released on Routemaster of himself, Chris Liberator and Lawrie Immersion live in Philedelphia and is also starting his own label, Hydraulic for his own brand of 'quirky' techno. But that’s still not enough. He’s also taking on the occasional DJ set and is part of the blistering techno act Kektex, along with Lawrie Immersion and MC Scallywag. They are signed to Truelove's own TEC imprint and are responsible for the jaw dropping 'Next Phase' and the brilliantly funky ‘Inner City Junkies’, which has been remixed by Sourmash. But you’ll still find him working away in his studio at the end of it all, which explains why it’s called The Punishment Farm. | 6/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

BSF Radioshow 010 | Woo York with Alan Fitzpatrick | 2010 is Alan Fitzpatrick’s year. Having enjoyed a rapid ascent from new kid on the techno block to a highly respected and in-demand producer, the last half of 2009 saw Alan go from strength to strength with critical acclaim for his productions and demand for his DJ’ing coming from all corners of the globe. Having just released his debut album for Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label, Alan became the first act to record an album on Drumcode since 2005. This highly anticipated long-player marks the culmination of a run of hot productions that led to him being publically name-checked as a one of the most exciting producers in techno by Adam Beyer, Dubfire and Carl Cox and being awarded a BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune for his anthemic Reflections single on Bedrock. Indeed, such has benn Alan’s dominance of the techno scene in the last twelve months that at one point in September 2009 Alan had an amazing eight tracks in Beatport’s techno Top 100 chart. The continued rise of Alan Fitzpatrick is the biggest story in UK techno right now. Tirelessly championed by the likes of Dubfire, Len Faki and John Digweed over the last three years it has been Alan’s partnership with Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label that has produced his most significant work; releasing two chart-topping EP’s (Static and Face Of Rejection) on the label in the last half of 2009 and ending a monumental year as one of a select handful of producers invited to remix Beyer’s classic Remainings III. With the same unstoppable momentum that has come to characterize Alan’s style of techno powering the demand for his music worldwide, the coming of his debut LP, ‘Shadows In The Dark’, on Drumcode marks the start of the next chapter in an exciting career. Released as a 12-track CD and accompanying 3-part vinyl set, Shadows In The Dark is the culmination of six months of solid work. Locked away in the studio since finalizing his universally acclaimed Face Of Rejection EP for Drumcode last Autumn, Fitzpatrick poured every ounce of his creativity into producing a body of work that will see him complete the transition from being a highly regarded newcomer to a bonafide member of techno’s producer vanguard. Focusing on his trademark sound of tough, hooky grooves and incendiary beats, ‘Shadows In The Dark’ is an album that will ring true to fans of Fitzpatrick’s previous work while also offering an insight into Alan’s musical range via a scattering of more experimental electronic moments that lay the foundations for a more varied output to come via Alan’s forthcoming collaborations with Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch, an EP of “one take” recordings and remixes for Mark Broom, Slam, Dustin Zahn & Joel Mull and Pascal Mollin. Already a firm favourite of many of the leading DJ’s within techno including Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Dubfire, Chrs Liebing, Carl Cox and Slam, Alan's own skills behind the decks are first class. Am intuative and dynamic exponent with Native Instrument’s Traktor software; his big-room techno sound has seen him draw crowds across Europe. December 2009 saw Alan touching down at Berlin’s Berghain for Drumcode’s end of year spectacular where Alan played alongside Adam Beyer, Paul Ritch, Joseph Capriati and Joel Mull while 2010 has been crowds flock to Alan’s shows in Germany (Berghain, U60311, Maria Ostbahnof), The Netherlands (Paradiso, Poema), Italy (Old River Park, Rasmonan) and Eastern Europe (Kiwi Lithuania, Forsage Ukraine) as well as key festivals including Kazantip Ukraine, Streetparade Zurich, Boom Portugal and Sziget Hungary Rapidly approaching the landmark of twenty-five releases, Alan’s own 8 Sided Dice Recordings label keeps on pushing forward as one of the most exciting new techno labels to emerge in recent times. | 2/2/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

BSF Radioshow 006 | Woo York with Alex Bau | Is it related to the fact that there has been a time before Techno for Alex Bau? Thousands of records in his collection, different styles, different music, for sure something that leaves its marks, no doubt about it. Still he is doing Depeche Mode-Nights from time to time, just for fun, and his activities on Techno doesn`t really suffer from that, not at all! With his 5 or even more hours sets at his first resident club in his southeastbavarian homearea, the „Libella“, where for example also DJ Hell started his career back in the 80ies, he achieved the reputation as somebody who is totally aware of what he is doing, totally dedicated to it and also totally loving it. He had his own radioshow for over 2 years on a local radiostation, still so far the only technoshow in this area, but after countless gigs at the local clubs time was right to proof that he is also able to play at other places all around. Especially the productions together with his friend Sven Dedek, mainly released under their moniker „Basic Implant“ or „Electric Envoy“ on labels like the at this time starting „Fine Audio Recordings“ from Chris Liebing have hit the technofloors in a very impressive way, so that he was able to collect also international experiences behind the decks while Sven was playing live. Releases like the „Phase Edit EP“, a highly acclaimed and well sold rework of some Nitzer Ebb EBM Classics, or their work for Dave Angel`s "Rotation", Justin Berkovi`s "Predicaments" or Pascal FEOS` "PV-Records" enabled the guys to reach a much bigger audience. Finally, after numerous releases for different labels beside his own label “Toneman”, Alex released his debut-album “Connected” in late 2004, which immediately draw the attention of many high class DJ`s like Chris Liebing, Pascal FEOS or Good Groove to name just a few. The fact that these artists, all standing for a different kind of style, grabbed the tracks from “Connected” constantly shows that the name of the album couldn`t have been chosen in a better way. With starting his own label „Toneman“ back in 2000 Alex Bau also started to his soloproductions for labels like Chris Liebing`s “CLR” or the Montreal based label "Default Recordings". Montreal can be understood as a kind of scale of Alex` DJ-activities too! Within 3 years he has been booked to Montreal four times, his set from the legendary night at “Aria” from january 2006 was even released as a mix-cd “live at Aria / Montreal” so that Alex came back months later to perform on the releaseparty, once again a night to remember for the Montreal technomovement. At this time Alex was already booked as the headliner, and its reported by numerous mails and guestbook-entries that it was not a mistake to do so. Maybe also as a small, unconscious “thank you”, but mainly due to a very inspirational night he spent in Halifax, where he flew over to Canada for just one night, he declared an EP as the “C.A.N.A.D.A. EP”, which was released on CLR in late 2007 and received overwhelming feedback from all over the globe. People desrcibed the tracks “Summer in Moncton” and “Halifax Funk” as masterpieces of contemporary technomusic which seperates positively from the rest, mainly dominated by minimal clicks and cuts. | 10/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
