DISTANT HEALER - May 15,2012 | Distance Healer, or DH for short, is the founder of the wildly popular Free Distance Healing Project. Arguably one of the most popular and successful distant energy healing services in the world, FDHP distant healing events have attracted nearly half a million attendees over the past 2 years. Hundreds of amazing healings have been reported. He currently offer distant healing freely & anonymously. No-one has ever been turned away for inability to pay. Distant Healer began his path as a mystic & healer at the age of 15on Christmas morning in 1973 with an instantaneous healing from a case of poison oak so severe that one eye sealed completely shut. At the age of 19, he purportedly had a profound, spontaneous experience that rivals those enlightenment experiences written of saints, mystics, gurus. Not claiming to be a saint by any means, James does maintain there has always been an energy channeled by source through his touch, which not only facilitates physical healing, but often triggers experiences of liberation, ecstasy, and awakening, not unlike Shaktipat. Admitting that his self-realization did not provide him all the wisdom, James has sought out for over four decades attunements, initiations, empowerments, baptisms, activations, clearings, and ordinations from dozens from world acclaimed healers, masters, and spiritual teachers of over 400 healing systems. In turn, he freely shares those additional frequencies of value with all who seek help. Thus, his work reflects eclectic elements such as Qigong, Reiki, charismatic faith, soul, sound, shamanic, alchemical, vibrational, and other multi-dimensional healing systems. He is not attached to any particular dogma, except that love is the underlying master vibration from which all others emanate. ERLE MONTAIGUE - Aug 23,2011 | Earlier this year, a world-renouned Qigong master from Australia Erle Montaigue passed away. The international community of Internal Martial Arts suffered a significant loss of the most prolific author on such subjects as Dim Mak and martial applications of Tai Chi. To honor Erle, we are featuring him as the Master of the Month in the next issue of Mastery Journal and replaying the interview with him I took last year. Erle Montaigue began his "internal" journey back in 1967 when he met and trained with a Chinese teacher at an electronics school that Erle was attending. The Chinese teacher would teach a strange slow moving art that was virtually unheard of in Australia back then. The teacher told Erle that he would become "superman," which of course turned out to be not so true but at least it kept him learning. The system turned out to be Taijiquan, which Erle believed was the quintessential Qigong method of movement and breath. Erles search from those early days took him all over the world in search of teachers of this illusive "superman" art. Strangely, it was back in Australia where Erle met his main teacher Chang Yiu-chun, who turned out to be one of only 3 special students of Yang Shou-hou. Chang taught Erle, after much badgering, what is now known as The Old Yang Style of Yang Lu-chan. Erle Montaigue preferred not to be called lofty names such as Sifu or Master as he believed that we are all equal and ones "students" must also be ones friends. With over 380 DVD titles covering every possible aspect of the Internal Arts of Taijiquan, Baguazhang, Qigong, Dim-Mak, and Wudang Arts, Erle taught thousands of students throughout his remarkable life. | 8/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CHERYL LINN & DONALD RUBBO - Aug 02,2011 | Donald Rubbo grew up in New York City, New York. In 1969, at the age of 12, Donald started studying karate, and then switched to the Chinese form, learning Shao Lin Chuan from "Nelson" at Five Tigers Martial Arts on Chambers Street. At 16, Donald became legal guardian for his younger brothers and at 18 he moved with them to San Francisco. Donald started attending Grandmaster Kuo Lien Yings martial arts studio across from Portsmouth Square Park in Chinatown, continuing with Shao Lin Chuan training. Cheryl Lynne grew up in Marin County and San Francisco. In 1973, she followed her younger brother Paul to Grandmaster Kuos studio and began studying Shao Lin Chuan. She quickly developed a reputation for grace, precision, flexibility and speed. As serious Kuo students, Donald and Cheryl Lynne practiced outdoors in the park in front of the studio, arriving every morning at 5:00 am, rain or shine. Grandmaster Kuo demanded that his students practice every day, and would not allow them to learn another movement if they were late or missed too many days. Both Donald and Cheryl Lynne, who met at Grandmaster Kuos studio in 1975, excelled at the demanding art of Shao Lin and they went on to master Tai Chi Chuan and several other internal arts forms from China. The discipline they developed from daily practice at Kuos has shaped and defined them, and provided a strong foundation for them to teach the martial and healing arts. Their teachers include Kuo Lien Ying, Bing Gong, Angela (Shen) Wu, George Kuo Ming Xu, Bruce Kumar Frantzis, Dr. Xie Pei Qi, Master Yang Yuan Jing and Master Zhu Hui. | 8/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH JEFF PRIMAK - Jun 07,2011 | Jeff Primak is the founder of the Supreme Science Qigong Center in South Florida and owner of qigong.com website. His school is known for organizing the most massive Qigong events in this country teaching a combination of several techniques organized under the umbrella name Supreme Science Qigong. Although I have have not met Jeff in person yet and did this interview by phone, I have a feeling that there are quite a few similarities between his approach to Qigong and mine. Jeff’s first teacher was a Siberian Shaman that spoke fluent English, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi and Sanskrit. When Jeff was 20 years old and first learned about Qi and spirituality, she was the one who taught him how to be lucid in dreams (aware of being in a dream while dreaming). She used to meditate for 6 hours straight and frequently described voyages to realms of bliss and light. Her Shamanic training allowed her to master her mind through meditation. After 3 years of studying both on & off campus, Jeff received a degree in Eastern Philosophy. He dedicated a whole decade of his life almost exclusively on the subject of Qigong. In the fall of 1999 he started Supreme Science as a seminar company and soon began flying in different Qigong Practitioners from China and other countries to Florida for the purpose of offering Qigong Healing workshops to the general public. He seems to attribute his success to being in the right place at the right time, which he considers to be the secret of life. Jeff has taught his live seminars to 10,000 people in less than 3 years. 625 Level-1 Qigong Instructors are certified in Supreme Science Qigong and 165 are involved in facilitating his popular seminar series. In 2008 he called his seminar Qi Revolution and hosted the first Qigong seminar with 1800 people in Orlando, Florida. Now his goal is to fill a stadium with 30,000 participants. | 6/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTOPHER ANDERL - Dec 14,2010 | Christopher Anderl’s approach to teaching Tai Chi and Qigong is unique in many ways. He combines a great deal of formal academic training with practical experience in body, mind, and spirit healing and integration techniques. Chris attended Whitman College, Stanford University, and the California Institute of Integral Studies while completing degrees in Psychology and Asian-Comparative Philosophy and Literature. He has done extensive research in cross-cultural perspectives on Healing, Nature, and Ecology. He teaches from the perspective that we humans are Nature attempting to know itself, and that Tai Chi and Qigong are some of the most effective means of doing so. To describe his evolutionary and revolutionary approach to natural health, growth, and awareness, Chris coined the term Embodied Ecology. It stands for centered awareness and integration of the many frequencies of energy we call Body, Mind, and Spirit, and their harmonious interplay with our surroundings. It refers to the wisdom beyond thinking and worrying about our health and the state of the world, and into a grounded presence of our being. From this place of centeredness, we are better able to take effective action, or no action, as the case may be. Chris likes to quote the ancient sages, who said that in order to know the world, one must first know oneself; therefore, before attempting to govern the world, we need to demonstrate our ability to govern our own bodies, minds, and spirits first. The disharmony in the world today are the result of humans wielding powers beyond their abilities. He encourages us to "begin with ourselves in bringing harmony to ourselves and the world." INTERVIEW WITH JOHN ALTON - Aug 10,2010 | John Alton has over 35 years experience in East Asian martial, including two black belts in Korean and Okinawan karate, and 25 years experience with Chinese martial arts and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In 1987, he moved to Beijing, where he taught English at Beijing University and became the private student of the University’s martial arts coach, who was also one of the leading Qigong masters there. After a two-year apprenticeship, he returned to the U.S. where he began teaching Chinese martial arts and Qigong. During that time, he published two books: Living Qigong and Unified Fitness. Unified Fitness introduced a Western reinterpretation of Qigong called “Reflective Exercise (RE).” A 2004 study conducted by the UVA School of Medicine showed that RE reduced the rates of respiratory infection by 70% in swimmers who practiced regularly. The results of the study were reported to the Assistant Secretary of Defense and the U.S. Army War College. In 2005 the UVA Cancer Center began testing the effects of RE on cancer patients undergoing conventional cancer therapy. In 2006, RE became available on DVD, available through the Web site www.unifiedfitness.com. John has recently completed his third book Pulse: Reflective Exercise and the Mind-body Reformation. The book focuses on a subset of simplified Qigong practices that were developed in China’s martial arts and sports institutes, to produce in the practitioner a pulsing sensation that can be directed by breath and muscular manipulation to travel up and down a pathway from lower abdomen to head. Recent and ongoing research at the University of Virginia suggests that sensing the pulse constitutes an ability to control the immunity cardio- and autonomic nervous systems. | 8/9/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH GENPO ROSHI - Jul 20,2010 | Zen Master D. Genpo Merzel is a revolutionary in the tradition of the old Zen Masters who so embodied Buddhist teaching that they were able to revitalize and transform it for their own day and age. As the Buddha Dharma moved from India to China to Japan and other Asian cultures, it found unique expression in each culture that made its fundamental teachings resonate for a new time and place. Genpo Roshi is working to transmit the essence of the Buddha’s teachings in a way that is readily accessible to Westerners and relevant to our everyday life. The core of Genpo Roshi’s teaching is the unshakable and contagious certainty that every one of us, regardless of our socioeconomic, cultural or religious background, can instantly awaken to our true nature, like the great masters of old — like the historical Buddha himself, whose essential teaching was nothing less than this. This experience helps us shed anxiety and fear and learn to live more purposeful, compassionate and joyful lives. Roshi combines Zen tradition with the insights of such visionary western figures as Carl Jung, Fritz Perls, and Hal Stone, enabling virtually anyone to realize their true nature, a realization they can further deepen through meditation. | 7/19/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH ERLE MONTAIGUE - Jun 11,2010 | I am excited to introduce to you a rare master from Down Under - Australian Erle Montaigue, who began his "internal" journey back in 1967 when he met and trained with a Chinese teacher at an electronics school that Erle was attending. The Chinese teacher would teach a strange slow moving art that was virtually unheard of in Australia back then. The teacher told Erle that he would become "superman". Which of course turned out to be not so true but at least it kept him learning. The system turned out to be Taijiquan which Erle believes is the quintessential Qigong method of movement and breath. Erle's search from those early days took him all over the world in search of teachers of this illusive "superman" art. Strangely, it was back in Australia where, Erle met his main teacher Chang Yiu-chun who turned out to be one of only 3 special students of one of Yang Shou-hou. Chang taught Erle, after much badgering, what is now known as The Old Yang Style of Yang Lu-ch'an. Erle Montaigue prefers not to be called lofty names such as Sifu or Master as he believes that we are all equal and one's "students" must also be one's friends. With around 381 DVD titles covering every possible aspect of the Internal Arts of Taijiquan, Baguazhang, Qigong, Dim-Mak and Wudang Arts, Erle at 61 still travels the world teaching what he knows because it is his life. | 6/10/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH MANTAK CHIA - Jun 01,2010 | Mantak Chia was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1944. Recognized very early as having great potential for spiritual development, he was initiated into meditation practices by Buddhist monks at the age of 6. While studying in Hong Kong, he learned Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido and Kundalini Yoga from a variety of teachers. His pursuit of Taoist teachings lead him to meet the White Cloud Hermit, a Taoist Master originally from Central China, living at that time in the mountains not far from Hong Kong. Master Yi Eng was to become Master Mantak Chia's principle teacher. Over a period of five years, Master Yi transmitted to Master Mantak Chia the most sacred and closely held Taoist practices, formulas and methods of internal alchemy, culminating in the Reunion of Heaven and Man. Realizing that as transmitted to him, these Immortal practices could not easily be absorbed by western students, Master Mantak Chia undertook to integrate them with his studies in western physical anatomy. Through this process he created a unique view of the internal aspects of these practices. With the Universal Healing Tao system, he has created for the first time, a way for any individual to quickly get to the essence of subtle practices whose real purpose has been shrouded in secrecy for millenia. The author of dozens of books, booklets, videos and CDs describing the theory and methods of these practices, Master Mantak Chia has taught hundreds of thousands of eager students the principles of Taoist internal practice over the past 40 years. He has certified hundreds of Instructors and Practitioners to help in the transmission of these teachings. | 5/31/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

INTERVIEW WITH LISA O'SHEA - Sep 15,2009 | Lisa O’Shea is the originator of the Rising Lotus Medical Qi Gong. This healing form incorporates fluid spinal movements with visualization and breathing to clear out blockages and improve wellness. Lisa grew up with a very western attitude about science and medicine, since her parents and grandparents were physicians. She was drawn to the fields of science and math, which led her to graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1986. After getting certified in Reiki and Hypnotherapy in 1988, she decided to branch out and get a teaching degree. While going through the teachers certification program at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, in order to reduce stress, she began taking a local Taiji Qi Gong class. To her surprise, after six months of practice, her asthma completely disappeared. Despite having experienced Reiki and Hypnosis first-hand, she could not integrate them into her busy lifestyle, as her western medical mindset had kept her from considering other alternative therapies for asthma. Going to a weekly Taiji class made all the difference. Lisa began to study Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine in earnest after that. In 1995 she became a Certified Qigong Therapist through the Chinese Healing Arts Center with Master Shih. By the time she finished her teacher training, she was already teaching a few Taiji and Qigong classes. She began her studies with Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming in Boston in 1997 and later became the first person to received full Instructor Certification in Qigong through his school. She also studied with Master Hong Liu in Los Angeles and got certified in Shiba Luohan Gong with Dr. Jay Dunbar at his Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School in Chapel Hill, NC. Since 1998, Lisa has been offering a variety of classes in Qigong, Taiji, Qi Healing, Meditation and Nutrition, as well as certification in Qigong Therapy through her Qi Gong Institute of Rochester. | 9/14/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Interview with Bruce Kumar Frantzis - Jun 23,2009 | Bruce Frantzis studied with O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, between 1967 and 1969 at the Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. It was his first in-depth, extended experience with a top-level master of internal martial arts, who was able to manipulate Qi powerfully and subtly. When Bruce was in Tokyo, another old man appeared while he was practicing his martians arts. When they started sparring it was obvious that he was a high-level master. Ten years later, when Bruce was living in Taiwan, he was told that the man had been sent with specific instructions to begin teaching Bruce Qigong Tui-na. By then Bruce had become an accomplished Qigong doctor who had worked on thousands of patients in a Chinese hospital with problems ranging from broken bones to nerve and organ damage. Years later he also worked with cancer patients. When Bruce was 32 years old he had a car accident, which resulted in massive injury to his spine. Although he wondered whether or not he'd be able to do martial arts, he healed himself using Qigong, Taiji and Taoist meditation techniques. In 1982 Bruce was given a letter of introduction to his most eminent teacher, the Taoist Lineage Master, Liu Hung Chieh, who accepted Bruce as his student. Master Liu completed Bruce's training in the martial and healing methods of Bagua, Taiji, Qigong therapy and Tui-na. Not only did he train Bruce's in the Water method of Taoist meditation, but even passed down his lineage to Bruce, which is directly linked to that of Lao Tse, the author of Dao De Jing. | 6/22/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Interview with Jeff Primak - Apr 21,2009 | Jeff Primak is the founder of the Supreme Science Qigong Center in South Florida and owner of qigong.com website. His school is known for organizing the most massive Qigong events in this country teaching a combination of several techniques organized under the umbrella name Supreme Science Qigong. Although I have have not met Jeff in person yet (unlike all the previous guests on our show) and doing this interview by phone, I have a feeling that there are quite a few similarities between his approach and mine. Now his goal is to fill a stadium with 30,000 people in Orlando this Saturday, April 25. | 4/20/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, A wealth of information perfect for a beginner.
The first and only Internet Radio talk show on Qigong
This is the only show dedicated to the Energy Arts in America to date. It is very fun and enlightening to listen to. It is especially cool to be able to call in with any questions that you can ask the guest masters or the host - Lama Tantrapa. Call (347) 327-9635 and fire away your most burning questions on Qigong, Tai Chi, healing, meditation, spirituality, enlightenment, etc.
