Radical Islam and the Battle for Our Minds - Mar 22,2012 | After thousands of people were murdered in simultaneous terror attacks on September 11, 2001, the New York Times said the violence came “out of the blue.” Nothing could have been further from the truth. Arab-Islamic terrorists had been attacking the West for years but the reports were dismissed as the work of “madmen” and, in fact, all the while recruiters and fund-raisers for Arab-Islamic terror were receiving academic and economic sanctuary in some of America’s most esteemed institutions. Had Osama bin Laden been held accountable in 1992, 1996, and 1998, and had his followers been called out, his Al-Qaeda network wouldn’t have become a clarion call for anti-Western terror. Now as new attacks, aborted and otherwise, are carried out from London to Mumbai to New York’s Times Square, Western elites—academia, the media, and government officials—have once again been fueling that same dangerous complacency that is leaving us as vulnerable as before. In Battle for Our Minds, Michael Widlanski delivers a powerful and sound argument for turning around this willful ignorance, and explains exactly how it can be done: by facing and genuinely understanding the precise motives and mind games behind those who want to destroy us. He names the officials, media pundits, and academics who have hindered the battle against Islamic terror, in turn obstructing a logical fight to stop it. Widlanski lays out a commonsense solutions to an imperative and increasingly dangerous global dilemma---a comprehensive strategy built around a hard-hitting truth carefully omitted from every liberal media outlet, and downplayed, overlooked, and incorrectly assessed by the FBI, CIA, and the State Department. | 3/22/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Bernard Shapiro on the Battle for Eretz Yisrael - Mar 01,2012 | Bernard J. Shapiro, author of "The Battle for Eretz Yisrael: Jews, G-d and Israel, 1992-2011" is the founder of the Freeman Center For Strategic Studies in Houston, Texas, and has been an advocate for Israel for more than 50 years. The Battle for Eretz Yisrael documents the years from 1992 to 2011 as Israel attempts to gain its identity. Rendering the full impact of the Israeli struggle, this analysis contains a collection of articles, political cartoons, maps, mementos, flyers, and poetry written and compiled by Shapiro. The articles span nineteen years and include a wide range of topics related to the Israeli struggle---Arab wars of extermination against Israel; military and strategic issues; Israeli political issues; U.S. and Israeli relations; Islam; and Arab propaganda and media bias. Shapiro provides an insiders look at this historic and contemporary issue that affects people all over the world. | 3/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Taking AIM at the Clinton Legacy - Jan 12,2012 | Marbue Brown takes aim at the legacy of President Bill Clinton in his new book, "The Clinton Economic Boom and Other Myths of the Clinton Presidency." Bill Clinton often gets credit for being the architect of the longest economic expansion in U.S. history and for being the catalyst for 22+ million jobs that were created during his tenure. Based on this reputation, the conventional wisdom is that the U.S. can regain the prosperity of the Clinton era by electing a president with similar political values, who will advance similar policies. Mr. Brown challenges the conventional wisdom by presenting a fact-based analysis, which shows that five factors combined to create an economic perfect storm during the Clinton years, and that the President had little if any influence over those factors. He also shows that several popular beliefs about the administrations economic record are founded on myths. Then leveraging lessons learned from his analysis, he adds prescriptions that policymakers can use to drive economic growth in more typical circumstances. . | 1/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

December 1941: The Month that Changed the World - Dec 08,2011 | This week marks the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. In remembrance of that day, our guest is historian Craig Shirley, whose newly released book, December 1941: 31 Days that Changed America and Saved the World, reveals the interrelated economic, social, and political events that shaped the United States in the lead-up and entry into World War II. Using in-depth research, Shirley uncovers many little-known facts about the mood of the country before and after the attacks, including the cultural attitudes and day-to-day lives of average Americans. Among the facts revealed by Shirley: ·Following December 7th, the laws passed against Japanese Americans were so excessively constraining that an American citizen of Japanese descent could be arrested and interned for owning a camera. ·Americans didn’t know the full details of Pearl Harbor until weeks after the actual attack. ·Leading up to December 7th, enlistment numbers were so low that the Navy was considering instituting what would have been the first and only Navy draft in U.S. history. After Pearl Harbor, the enlistment numbers were so high recruitment stations needed to expand their hours. ·In the days following the attack on Pearl Harbor, several Japanese subs off the west coast of the U.S. staged attacked on merchant vessels, sinking at least two. The Inside Story on the Mission to Kill Osama bin Laden - Nov 17,2011 | SEAL Target Geronimo is the story of Bin Laden’s relentless hunters and how they took down the terrorist mastermind, told by Chuck Pfarrer, a former assault element commander of SEAL Team Six and author of the bestselling Warrior Soul: The Memoir of a Navy SEAL. After talking to members of the SEAL team involved in the raid, Pfarrer shares never-before-revealed details of the historic raid and the men who planned and conducted it in an exclusive boots-on-the-ground account of what happened during each minute of the mission— both inside the building and outside. Pfarrer takes readers inside the operation as the SEALs flew over the wall of Bin Laden’s shabby, litter-strewn compound and then penetrated deeper and deeper into the terrorist’s lair, telling us just what it looked, sounded, and smelled like in that sweltering Pakistani suburb. He takes us out to the courtyard to witness the near-disaster of the malfunctioning helicopter and brings us to the exact spot where the al-Qaeda leader was cowering when the bullet entered his head. SEAL Target Geronimo is an explosive story of unparalleled valor, clockwork military precision, and deadly accuracy carried out by the most elite fighting force in the world—the U.S. Navy’s SEAL Team Six. | 11/17/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tim Groseclose Takes AIM at Media Bias - Oct 05,2011 | Tim Groseclose, a professor of political science and economics at UCLA, has spent years constructing precise, quantitative measures of the slants of media outlets. He does this by measuring the political content of news and converting that content into an SQ, or “slant quotient,” of the outlet. To determine bias, he compares SQs of news outlets to the PQs, or “political quotients,” of voters and politicians. Groseclose contends that the general leftward bias of the media has shifted the PQ of the average American by about 20 points on a scale of 100, the diference between (i) the current political views of the average American and (ii) the political views of the average resident of Orange County, California or Salt Lake County, Utah. With Left Turn, readers can easily calculate their own PQ—to decide for themselves if the bias exists. This timely, much-needed study brings fact to this often over-heated debate. | 10/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
