Podcast Description

Cast On began on Monday, 31 October, 2005, founded on nothing more than the desire to talk about knitting to people who get it. All the other stuff, about how memories, thoughts, hopes and dreams are knit into the fabric we create, and so become part of the fabric of our lives; about how life and knitting intertwine, and how sometimes you simply cannot tell where one part leaves off the other begins; about how the only thing wrong with the world today is that there is not enough knitting in it, all that came later, over time. Since 2005 the podcast has evolved to focus on finding inspiration in the ordinary, using it to kick start the process of making stuff, and finding ways to carve out the creative time and space that allows you to work your ass off on the projects that matter most to you. Like knitting a sweater. Or saving the world.

Customer Reviews

Just one small problem

The only problem with this podcast is that it was the first knitting podcast I found, and while I enjoy listening to some of the others, there is simply no comparison with the fab Ms. Dayne! She has definitely set the bar high, but that is a good thing! Love the content, love the voice, love the essays, love "Today's Sweater", love the music -- simply love this podcast. You don't have to be a knitter to relate -- I could swear Brenda was describing me when she talked about the "first gardening day!" If you are wondering whether this podcast is worth a listen, quit reading these reviews and get busy downloading!!!!!

I've given up on this one

I discovered this podcast long after it started and really enjoyed it. Very professional and full of good information, entertaining stories -- I even liked the music! I would suggest starting at the beginning and going through 2007. Everything after that is very different. Brenda decided that we should all contribute to supporting the podcast (and reminds people how to contribute constantly) and cut back to doing it once a month. Now, she doesn't deliver the podcast on time and there is very little knitting content. A whining about finances, health issues, etc. I almost contributed, but am glad now that I didn't. It's very disappointing.

disappointed

I enjoyed this podcast and would download several times a year. Ever since Brenda Dayne has decided this should be here career and to be paid for her podcast, it had left a sour taste in my mouth. I noticed that she was back and it still said free under her heading I thought I would give it a listen. She said she was only going to podcast once a month so she could look for something else as she was not able to make a living with her podcast. Well her third podcast she has asked people to send her enough money to make around $65,000 per year to listen to the next 9 episodes and to pay for the past podcasts. the asking for money, special knitting needles, or sock yarn in the past was annoying , and I did buy one of her patterns as she said would help support her podcasting. But the constant whinning about not being able to make a living doing a podcast makes me wonder how she would fare here in the States working two minimum wages jobs to make a living.
