I Promise: Serpent Covenant | A talking serpent, deception, pride, and a couple bites from a piece of fruit was all it took to turn the world upside down. Sin entered the world and with sin, come consequences. But even in the midst of this bad news, God had a plan of redemption. This week we will talk about how sin entered the world and God’s promise that it will one day exit. For more information about Christ Community Church, visit the website at cccomaha.org. Advent: The Humility Of Christmas (Part 2) | The Bible is completely counter-cultural. In such a fast paced society where truth is often taken for granted, humility is an essential aspect for seeing the truth and accepting when we are wrong. But why was humility such an important aspect for Jesus, the one and only, all-powerful God? Why would the only one who was never wrong and who created “right” humble himself to a manger among farm animals? We’ll take a look at the value of truth and the humility of Christmas, while looking at the mysterious and powerful nature of Jesus himself. Rebellion: Technology | Ask a group of people what they think about teenagers and a word you’ll hear is rebellion. It’s actually very good to be rebellious; the key is to rebel against the right things. In this series, we’ll discuss some of the right things to rebel against, what Scripture has to say about these issues, and practical ways we can live the rebellion in a world where it’s sometimes very difficult to do so. We live in a culture that is “wired-in” 24/7. Whether it’s internet, television, YouTube, texting, gaming, Twitter, email, or Facebook, we have direct access to about anything in our world. Technology isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can easily consume our lives & affect our relationships with others & God if abused. This week we’ll look at the importance of silence & solitude in a technology driven culture. Jesus needed time away to connect with the Father & so do we. Worship: How do we worship? | It’s maybe not the most common word in our culture, but yet we all engage in worship every single day. Whether it’s success, sports, material things, people, or God, we all worship something. Let’s dive into this topic over the next few weeks & answer the what, why, & how of worship. Through interactive experiences & teaching from the Bible, we will discover who God is, why worship is important, & how we can encounter more of Him in our lives. When it comes to corporate worship, one thing’s for sure…worship looks different depending on where you go. Some churches use a more traditional approach, while others are more charismatic. Is one better than the other? No matter what our worship experience looks like, is there a way we can consistently encounter God? If so, how does this happen? Worship is so much more than showing up to church & raising hands while singing songs. Worship is a lifestyle & when our lives reflect an attitude of worship, it drastically changes everything we do. Worship isn’t about us. It’s about glorifying God. But perhaps when we take our eyes off ourselves & live a life of worship, we receive the blessing as well. The truth is we all worship something. We were created to give our attention & affection to something or someone. So how can just worship God when so many things compete for our attention? And why does it often seem more natural to worship other things before God? Maybe if we had a better understanding of who God is, it would change the worship priorities in our lives. Mission: Abraham | Since Genesis 3, when we as humanity strayed from God, God has been about redeeming His creation. He wants to use us in this process. During our Mission series, we will discover how we can partner with God in his mission to redeem the world. God is looking for students who will join Him in this Mission. From sharing our faith, to caring for our friends, our community, and our world; this series will challenge us to become the kind of people God can use. During this first week of the series, we’ll take a closer look at Abraham as we ask ourselves how open each of us are to following God’s leading in our lives For more information, visit the website at http://cccomaha.org. Power Of Sex: How Far Is Too Far? | We are bombarded with messages about sexuality from everywhere from home, the locker room, classes at school, TV and movies, and friends. Some of these influences bring truthful perspectives, others do not. In the Power of Sex series, we’ll be looking at what God’s Word says about sex, body image, truths about guys and girls, pornography, and more. All from the perspective of: God sets up boundaries for us not because he is anti-fun, but because he is anti-pain and has a great plan for each of our lives. Instead of getting as close to that line as we can, there is an even better option for us. For more information, visit the website at http://cccomaha.org. Broken: Restoration - God Heals Hurts | We live in a broken world. Sometimes, the difficulties we face are brought on by ourselves. But, many times difficulties come and it’s not because of our direct decisions. The book of Job is a story of a man who was faithful to God but still, he faced some immense difficulties. As we follow his journey of brokenness at the loss of his possessions and most of his family, we can come to see that brokenness is a part of life and that God can provide hope no matter what our circumstances. God is actively involved in our world and he is on mission to restore a broken humanity to Himself. For more information, visit the website at http://cccomaha.org.
