Customer Reviews
This is a great podcast
This is the language-learning podcast that sets the standard for all the rest.
A great resource for beginners
Hardly a 'waste of time', as one reviewer put it. The newbie podcasts are designed for people with no prior Mandarin training, and they do the job well. Those who want more advanced training can move on to the intermediate or advanced levels. It's a terrific resource for clear, conversational Mandarin on today's topics. You can also access the written pdf dialogues and vocabulary lists using the paid service on their website.
Using this site for several months
I discovered the site via the free podcasts. There are several hundred (maybe thousand) podcasts on their site sorted by skill level. I am on Newbie and also working with Rosetta Stone and other materials including books. The website is very useful and I pay $30 month for full access. The iPhone Apps allow me to check dictionary and hear the phrases as well. Rosetta Stone is wonderful but its process doesn't explain much. Chinesepod rounds things out very nicely. It seems to take multiple approaches for me to learn. The Advanced courses are way beyond me--as they should be. It's all a matter of where you are in your skills. Do not judge the full site by the free podcasts here. They are only an introduction. They have a free trial for the full site which is how I got started there.
