One of the few...

This podcast sets itself apart as too few actually manage to, by demonstrating the knowledge and rigor of online geekery without any of the pretension and obsessive rivalry that usually come with it. Instead, there is a friendly, casual air and the kind of simple courtesy that remains a rarity on the interwebz. The hosts and contributors are not trying to one-up one another or present themselves as decidedly authoritative. Rather, there is a great deal of fun coverage and criticism of films that hold up in areas while bearing scrutiny in others.

A great new genre podcast

James (who I love from The Criterion Cast) and Rufus have a great time with one another, while discussing such films as Street Trash and The Stuff, Let Me In and Shiver and even Tremors and The Burrowers and give it a double feature feel for all of us listeners to partake in with them and also with our friends. I've already done a couple of these movie nights due to their picks, which is always a great thing, and seeing a couple for the first time and loving them means these guys know their movies. They don't try to hammer it home and instead are lighthearted, funny and give it a friendly manner. It's like going to the diner after watching a film at midnight and then discussing it with your friends. They're just going to get better over time and I'm still catching up with their festival episodes. Can't wait to see what the future holds for them. Check out their website too. One of the best around.

Lives up to its title!

Cineawesome is a hugely enjoyable podcast and I am already a big fan after only a few episodes. James and Rufus are two men with cinematic tastes planted firmly in my wheelhouse. Please give them a chance and they will win you over! Their show defines and lives up to its wonderful title. Genre fans take note!
