Almost first!

Here I am! Yeah!!

Diamond in the Rough

I watched episode 1 of this hastily-put-together podcast last night, and although the author fumbled his way awkwardly through the podcast, I must admit that the knowledge that he exposed was well worth the trudge through his vocal fumbling. Only at the end of the podcast did he reveal some of the amazing work that he's accomplished in comic books and traditional books, and so although his presentation skills are in development, he is certainly a source that's worth watching.

(Currently) Needs Editing

I watched episode 06 with Manga Studio EX. I think it would help if he wrote a script first or at least a list of a point by point. He also missed the "correction" feature in Manga Studio EX that is one of the best parts of Manga Studio. Also the moving line tool.

Anyway, I think if he works off of a script the "Oh and I forgot" would disappear more often. Trying something like a point by point list as one is using the program might help.

For example:
* Manga Studio EX features compared to other programs. (List them)
* What Manga Studio EX can and can't do.
* Special parts of inking. (etc.)

and so on and then practice it once through on your computer and then edit. This should make the podcast a lot smoother and make for less editing. Also try to keep the podcasts to about 1 hour. This means video editing.

Despite this, I think the information underneath the stumbling is good information. It just needs to be practiced and distilled, even if it has to be a script.

For future podcasts, I think it would also be a good idea to not only look at the programs and coloring, but the technique and design that goes into comic books, or maybe even have special guests on to discuss techniques. What makes for good inking, for example. Paneling, coloring, etc. Ways to color, ways to craft a good story for a comic book. Explore deeper than just the programs used to make the comic book, but what actually goes into making a comic book.
