ExplicitComicImpact Ep.249 POW February 1st 2012 Doctor Who #14 | Knock, knock! Who’s there? Comic Impact POW podcast. No joke, that’s who’s there. Ok, that was bad, but know what’s not bad? Doctor Who by Joshua Hale Fialkov, and IDW publishing. Simon went with the good Doctor as his pick of the week for the first week in February. Sheldon was not happy with his pick, but he was more than happy to talk about Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker. The boys get into it, as Simon also enjoyed Animal Man by Jeff Lemire. Sheldon did not like this one either. Susan, on the other hand, is still in love with the most fun comic being published, Reed Gunther, from Shane and Chris Houghton and published by Image Comics. She was also let down by a Marvel comic that she was told she needed to read. Plus, find out how Sheldon is making a extra income. So, enjoy Episode 249 of the ComicImpact.com podcast! ExplicitComicImpact Ep.248 Beechen vs Krul | Sometimes, us comic book peeps get so obsessed with collecting our floppies that we forget that some of the best stuff is found digitally. We, at ComicImpact, have not forgotten this. In fact, we embrace it! We embrace it so much that we had two of the most awesome DC writers, Adam Beechen and J.T. Krul, talk to us about their new digital titles. It doesn't stop there, we get them to talk about their sports fandom and fake rivalry between them. Though, they may have inadvertently started a Susan vs. Simon rivalry of their own! So, on a boring day of no-more-football-until-next-season, put in some headphones, slack off at work, and listen to the ComicImpact Versus Podcast! Susan, Simon, and Sheldon get together again to talk comics and be awesome (well, Susan and Simon are). Sheldon gets into a grumpy mood, because he did not have the pick. Susan did! She went with I, Vampire #5 by Joshua Hale Fialkov. Susan likes vampires and strong female characters? Who knew! Simon talks of his love for creator owned books, as he gushes over Elephantmen and Bulletproof Coffin. Sheldon geeked out over the bromance in Secret Avengers, as he is familiar with the concept of hetero-man-love. Susan gets interrogated about the one book she doesn't read, but possibly should. Listen. Enjoy. Read comics. Thanks again for taking time to deal with the madness that is ComicImpact's POW! Pick of the Week podcast. ExplicitComicImpact Ep.244 POW January 11th 2012 Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E #5 | Simon had the pick for the week of January 11th 2012, and he picked Frankenstein Agent of SHADE #5 by Jeff Lemire and Alberto Ponticelli. But, when the ComicImpact team started talking about the rest of the books this week, the podcast was taken over by Brian Buccellato (you know the man behind Foster #1) last weeks pick of the week by Susan. The crew talks to Buccellato about everything from Susan's obsession with werewolves and what 1980's pop start Brian did a sketch of at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. ExplicitComicImpact Ep.243 POW January 4th 2012 Foster #1 | Hello and welcome to the first Pick of the Week Podcast of 2012! Susan had the pick, and the boys weren't too happy with her selection. They accused her of being charmed by the debonaire stylings of Brian Buccellato. The first pick of 2012 was Foster #1. Let's face it. It's independent and horror, so Susan's kryptonite. Not to mention, Mr. Buccellato's smile (perhaps she'll leave Scott Snyder alone for a few weeks). Anyway, beyond that, Sheldon geeked out over the latest from his favorite, Ed Brubaker, Fatale #1. Simon got an Apes fix. We all love Animal Man and Swamp Thing, but we each have our preference. Throw in some of Sheldon's Marvel fandom and Susan's proclivity towards female leads, and you have found yourself listening to the Pick of the Week! Happy 2012 Comic Impact! ExplicitComicImpact Ep.242 Best of 2011 | Howdy ho ho ho! The holiday season is about end, and we at Comic Impact take this time to reminisce about what occurred over the past year in comics. Susan, Simon, Sheldon, and Rob (I know, right? Rob!) go through the best, worst, mildly disappointing, and overly exciting comics of the past twelve months. We actually have quite the variety of books on this list, so take a listen to what we all have to say. It’s rather important. Susan promises to stop stalking a certain comic writer, while Sheldon talks in a British accent for far too long. Simon tells us all what the most fun comic of 2011 is, and Rob is secretly podcasting from an attic. Seriously, this is some of the best stuff we’ve ever said, so enjoy the end of the year with the Comic Impact crew! This is P.O.W. for December 21 2011... or if you are counting Episode number 241! What was the pick? It was none other than Daredevil #7 by Mark Waid and Paulo Rivera. Well, let me give you the run down: Batman #4, Uncanny X-Force #19,Venom #11, Wonder Woman #4, Red Hood and the Outlaws #4,Ultimate Comics Spiderman #5, Supergirl #4, and last but certainly not least Justice League #4! Anyway, we're back for another episode of the "Pick of the Week" podcast. Sheldon still does not know which episode we are on. Simon loves himself some Planet of the Apes. And me? Well, I (Susan) had the pick. While the boys did not agree, I went with Huntress #3. I convinced them by telling them which women of the DC Universe I would date. Seemed to work just fine! Simon and I agree that Sheldon hates fun after refusing to fall in love with Reed Gunther #6. Sheldon just went on and on about Marvel books (big shock there). Basically, we actually used this podcast to talk about comics! Hooray! Take a listen. We are kind of amazing, as are the books we talk about. ExplicitComicImpact Ep.236 POW November 16th 2011 Wonder Woman #3 | Another week, another pick. This time the pick belongs to Susan! Trust us, she had a very hard time with it, because of all the awesome titles that came out this week. After a lot of thought, she decided on Wonder Woman by Brian Azzarello, who she has made her new writer's crush. Susan did all the work while Sheldon sat around with Kermit the Frog (don't ask), and Simon? Well, he seems to be the only one taking the podcast seriously. Don't blame Susan, though. She's sick. It's Sheldon's fault! Anyway, join the Comic Impact crew for Episode 236 of the Pick of the Week Podcast! Happy Thanksgiving!!! ExplicitComicImpact Ep.209 POW June 15 2011- Gladstone's School For World Conquerors #2 | Sad news, everyone. The great El CuCuy impersonating Louie is gone and Ian has returned to make the POW, Pick Of the Week podcast all boring again. We know, we know, Ian’s a pathetic replacement for Louie. Send your hate mail to Ian@ComicImpact.com. Ian also has the pick this week and he went with Gladstone’s School For World Conquerors #2 by Mark Andrew Smith and Armand Villavert. He ends up totally stealing the stage because he was the only one to read this particular book, so Ken and Simon have very little to add. What a little p***k! Later on, Ken continues to shower the X-Men with love and Simon has a stroke. Also, find out which creator cleverly snuck his opinions on the DC reboot into an Image book this week. Is this quality entertainment or what?!? Also discussed this week is X-Men #13, Avengers #14 Invincible #80, FlashPoint: Deadman and The Flying Graysons #1, FlashPoint: Wonder Woman and The Furies #1, FlashPoint: Grodd of War #1, X-Men: Prelude to Schism #3, Uncanny X-Men #538 and Invincible Iron Man #505. Hear about our theories as to the possibility of sequels, how we rate Green Lanternagainst the other comic book movies of this summer and where we thought it went right and wrong.
