Podcast Description

American Zen is a Buddhist rock band of Californians led by The Hippy Coyote from San Diego, by way of Newfoundland and Utah. With 8 LEVELS of Buddhism to climb and 8 ALBUMS to pave their enlightenment, The Coyote has emerged in Level 4 = Kung Fu Cowboy as a Shaolin Warrior Monk, founder of three Kung Fu schools, founder of the nonprofit organization Tai Chi Youth, and has been a Mr. Mom for 15 years raising two kids 24/7. Fresh and free, single and solo, The Hippy Coyote has released three poetry books and the novel, SID'S PLACE, about a drug runner in the psychedelic sixties of San Francisco. Coyote's newest book, KUNG FU COWBOY ORIGINAL DRAFT, is his roadmap for American Zen's new album, being recorded in Montrose, California by Shaolin Records, produced by Richard Connor. This LEVEL 4 PODCAST SERIES will follow behind Coyote as he weaves and winds and writes and records his new album, LEVEL 4 = KUNG FU COWBOY. From session bassist to the best flute player in the world, The Hippy Coyote is now the drummer of American Zen with a style like Ginger Baker and Ringo Starr. His bass playing is unmatched by similar Motown stylists and Paul McCartney. With the acoustic guitar as the foundation of most songs, the Folk Rock genre is what we use although the songs are a mixture of classic rock, pop rock, and country rock. Looking like Richard Gere, Coyote sings like Jim Morrison, John Lennon, and occassionally like Alice Cooper. Join the journey. Be Zen!
