wish we had more films like this

I wish we had more films like this, about the history of football (soccer), with good scripts, directors, and actors. Damned United is a good example of how fascinating the people behind the scenes are, in football. It's a great subject.

Cloughie

Damned if he did, damned if he didn't. . .incredible acting of an incredible man. Middlesbrough is proud of one of it's sons.

The other, better, UNITED!

A truly fabulous movie. As a Leeds Utd fan during the time the movie was shot, it was fascinating to see what was going on behind the scenes at Elland Road. Michael Sheen is truly a chameleon as he masters Brian Clough's mannerisms incredibly well. Colm Meaney as Don Revie was another great piece of casting...the look and the accent were spot on. I loved the photography throughout the movie, it felt like the 70's which was as depressing in real life...rain and poor facilities. As a Scot living in Colorado, I also felt incredibly nostalgic for the amazing influence my countrymen had on Leeds....Peter Lorimer, Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray, Gordon McQueen, etc....although in the movie...the Billy Bremner character was a little...unfit looking....Bremner was small, but tough, fit and very skillful.

Strongly recommend this movie to non-soccer/football fans. A great script. Marvelous acting. Accurate backdrop. A maverick.

Now, all we need is Leeds to go back to having the flashes with the player's number on it, and we'll all be happy!
