RC Sproul

Wonderful intellectual approach to the Christian faith. I appreciate the Biblical insights arrived at in such a scholarly, yet understandable way, with a touch of humor when appropriate.

Great teacher

I have been aware of R. C. Sproul for roughly 7 years now. I can say, without contestation, having read most of his books, that he is very devoted to teaching and has gone through great lengths to understand the material and convey to us, to the best of his ability, the truth of the Gospel of Christ.
That said, I do disagree with Dr. Sproul at certain points, such as in the giving of an explanation for the problem of evil. In one book, Dr. Sproul states that the problem of evil is a mystery. Perhaps he states this because he does not want to unknowingly teach a false doctrine and is being careful with what he feeds the lambs. However, this is a problem that his teacher, the late Dr. John H. Gerstner has given a great answer. Furthermore, evil's explanation is profoundly explored by Jonathon Edwards, a Puritan who R.C., on many occasions, quotes.
This is not to take away anything from Dr. Sproul. On the contrary, Dr. Sproul is very knowledgeable about the sciences, read his book "Not a Chance" and you'll see what I mean. Furthermore, he understands philosophy a great deal and thus knows the mindset of secular society and their presuppositions.
if I were you I would get everything R.C. and start from there. Just remember to think for yourself because even R.C., as careful as he is, is fallible.
