Podcast Description
Empire Opera is a unique new company that brings together talented musicians from all around. With a primary focus on works by living composers, our first event was a reading of my opera, The Great Supper in 2005. June, 2006 we performed selected scenes from The Great Supper and Passion at St. Luke’s Church. We were officially incorporated in January 2007. We also perform works that are rarely or never performed as well as works from the standard repertoire. Composers are encouraged to submit their works for consideration. With our motto being, “It’s a New Day...a New Way”, we want to bring new fans to opera to enjoy this wonderful art form. In a city as diverse as New York, our most important goal is to embrace diversity of culture, ideas, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. Whether an old or new work, we want to present opera in such a way as to appeal to the whole of the community.
