Customer Reviews
Barry good, Joy bad
Barry's not always right, but he is insightful and has a great personality. The problem is Joy Russo, as she adds nothing to the show. She is primarily interviewing Barry by asking a list of pre-determined questions. What's worse is her personality, which seems to bring Barry's intelligence level down a notch.
Finally, Barry and Hockey in general get some respect from ESPN
After about a month of having to sift through the ESPN mix podcast, while everything but bass fishing had its own subscribable podcast, ESPN finally does what needs to be done. Melrose is the greatest analyst ESPN has. He's got the right amount of personality, never growing as dry as Dan Patrick or as outrageous as Steven A. Smith. His game break downs are concise and accurate. You never fear he doesn't know what he's talking about (Salsbury, anyone). It's a crime that it took this long to get a subscribable podcast to the best balance of personality and analytical quality that ESPN has. Oh yeah, Russo's not bad either.
Just one issue...
SCOTT BURNSIDE.... You are the host of an espn podcast. Get some better equipment and learn some broadcast etiquette. Nothing sounds worse than hearing you step on everyone else every time they try to speak. Also, move the mic away from your face when your not speaking. It's revolting to hear your lips smacking and heavy breathing. It's very evident why you became a writer.
