FAMILIESdownload # 11 – Giles Smith | # 11 Giles Smith : In early 2000 Giles Smith was already an key player on the London scene, running small parties and being the new resident of London house music gatekeepers Faith… In what was at the time an ocean of rock-tinged techno, he was relentlessly championing house music. Then Giles started secretsundaze with some friends in 2001, arguably the biggest success story in recent London clubbing history. With punters flocking every summer to their ever changing London venues and overseas club ringing them to organize secretsundaze tours, Giles was able to do whatever he wanted. A new freedom he used to develop and promote house music. Today Giles is still running secretsundaze (which is aiming to get back to their roots with more intimate parties during their 2010 season coupled with a militant underground approach of no press and no promotion). He’s most recently launched a booking agency – The Secret Agency. He’s also working in the studio with Martin Dawson as Two Armadillos, having new material lined up for 2010 and they have been asked alongside Floating Points, Levon Vincent and Marcel Dettman to take part in a concept album remixing tracks by drum n bass heroes Commix on Goldie‘s legendary Metalheadz imprint. FAMILIESdownload # 10 – Art Of Tones | # 10 Art Of Tones : Ludovic Llorca might be known by most of us for his F Com debut album “Newcomer” released a few years ago but it’s with his dancefloor cuts under the Art Of Tones moniker that he’s currently causing stir among the house heads, starting withPraise, released in 2007 by 2020 Vision. Since then there’s been a constant stream of releases and remixes – and some whites that have been doing the rounds -culminating today with 2020 Vision “Call The Shots EP” with dOP singer Jaw and “Philterism” for up & coming Hamburg imprint Room With A View. For his FAMILIESdownload mix, deliberately signed as Art Of Tones, Llorca is starting right away on the dancefloor and doesn’t leave it for its whole 80 minutes running time. FAMILIESdownload # 6 – Jerome Pacman | # 6 Jerome Pacman : Jerome Pacman’s passion for music first started back in the early 80′s, while listening to radio FM. At the time, the stations playing Funk & Electro in France were Radio 7, Radio Show and Radio Nova. The hip-hop movement was just beginning, and Jerome soon found himself working as a “Break Dancer” at the Zulu parties, organized by Dj Deenasty. Jerome amused himself behind the tape decks, blaring the latest underground anthems of the time.A few years later, as the “idealistic-electro” movement moved towards “political rap”, he began loosing interest in this scene. Soon after, while holidaying in Ibiza, he discovered house music. The infamous “Summer of Love” was in full swing and he had just been en-lightened. He became an instant follower of the “Acid-House Music” scene, as well as the “Freedom to Party” gatherings. It was around ’90-’91, when Jerome’s DJing career truly began. He started playing around different after hours clubs in paris, and soon found himself playing at larger club venue. This FAMILIESdownload had been originally released in December 2005.
