Field Recording: Nightingale | I recorded this beautiful Nightingale in the south of Berlin on an abandoned hospital area while shooting a short film on May 11th 2010. The recording isn’t absolutely clean as people were working on the film set in the background. It still is quite usable I think. The mp3 audiofile is posted here. Recording equipment used: Sound Devices 702 – High-Resolution 2-Channel Compact Flash Field Recorder Sennheiser e614 Small Diaphragm Condenser Mic / Boompole original recording @ 48 KHz/24 Bit (.wav) This is the plain recording, no sound or dynamics processing was applied. Field Recording: Stainless Steel Pipe, Threaded Rod | This field recording is part of a sound research with different metal objects. The goal is to find metal objects that children can use as versatile musical instruments. Appproximately 700 children will play these instruments during the “Friedensinstallation”-event at the Berlin Friedenssäule on Sept 21st 2009 (the U.N. international day of peace). The performance of 700 children will be a statement for children’s rights and is a crucial part of “Friedensinstallation”. We expect about 30.000 more children to participate at the event. More information on this will be avaliable on andreastiedemann.com shortly. The mp3 audiofile is posted here. Recording equipment used: Zoom H4n mobile recorder built-in stereo condenser microphones (120° stereo angle). original recording @ 48khz/16bit (.wav) This is the plain recording, no sound or dynamics processing was applied. Field Recording: Hare Krishna chants at Vondelpark, Amsterdam | Recording of Hare Krishna chants at Vondelpark, Amsterdam/The Netherlands on May 14th 2008. The singing is embedded into a general park atmosphere. The singer is not a very good singer as such. But then again: it’s a religious thing not a musical competition, right? A lot of people (especially children) were making fun of him. A young mother got really angry with her daughter, when she noticed her making fun of the guy. Unfortunately this scene happened just before I had my recording gear ready.
