Acts 4.1-31 Peter defends the Gospel | After healing the man from Acts 3, Peter and John end up in court with some of the same people who condemned Jesus... YIKES! Yet, they don't shrink, they defend. From this text we see what it looks like to defend the Gospel without being a chicken or a jerk. | 2/9/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

8.Gospel in Life.Eternity-The World that is to come (Isa.60 & Rev.21) | While on earth sin has made things work backwards, decaying what is good--eternal life makes things move back to their original intent--for the glory of God. In the believers life, that process begins today. | 12/29/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

7.Gospel in Life.Justice-a people for others (Luke 10:25-37) | We learn from the parable of the good samaritan that followers of Jesus are to be a people for others. How does this happen? It happens when people realize they are not good and that they are in need of a great savior. All self-salvation tecniques say the same thing--"you can do it." Christianity says "you can't do it." This is humbling and results in compassion for others--this is (by definition) justice. | 12/15/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

6.Gospel in Life.Work-cultivating the Garden (Matt. 6:19-21) | From this text we learn that what your treasure is... that thing will change you. The believer, however, has a different center. The believer can freely let go of their treasure because it's not at their center. Like Jonathan gives up the kingdom to David, so the believer gives up their things and in the process becomes more kingly, noble and more of a friend of the king. | 12/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

5.The Gospel in Life: Witness-an alternate city Acts 2:42-47 | The Church - according to Augustine - is supposed to be an alternate city. It's a foretaste of the age to come. This talk examines what was happening in the early church & why the church is the most necessary group of people in the world. | 12/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

4.The Gospel in Life: Community-the Context for Change (Phil.2:1-11) | The Gospel affects the way our relationships are lived out. Why? Because all of a sudden, that thing that we thought defined us (ie.social class, possessions, etc...), no longer defines us. What was once central has changed to secondary and Jesus has become central. In this talk we learn why Christian community changes everything. Also, in this talk we hear about Pastor David's new friend Norm. | 11/17/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

3.The Gospel in Life: Idolatry-the Sin beneath the sin (Romans 1:18-25) | The book of Romans tells us that the wrath of God is God giving humans over to what they want.... therefore, idols rule us. They use, abuse and exploit. However, a better righteousness has been made available through Christ so humanity doesn't have to be enslaved to lesser "gods." | 11/10/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

2.The Gospel in Life: The Heart (Luke 18:9-14) | Jesus tells a parable of two men. One has religion, the other has reality. From this, we learn 3 ways to live. 1--the way of religion, 2--the way of irreligion, 3--the way of the Gospel. While many people think God expects us to "get religion" or "be good" Jesus says "the Gospel is something else entirely." | 11/3/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

1.The Gospel in Life: The City (Jer.29:4-14) | This is the first of 8 talks based on Dr. Timothy Keller's small group series entitled "the Gospel in Life." In this first session, we introduce the next 8 weeks. Then we talk about the Christian's response to living out the Gospel in the arena where he spends his time--in his city/work/neighborhood/school etc... We learn that the response of the believer isn't to withdraw, rather, the response is to get involved and bless culture. This short talk was completed by the first video in the series by Tim Keller called "The City: The World that is." | 10/27/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 6:1-18 A Final Warning, Question & Invitation | In the final chapter of Galatians Paul gives instructions on how we are to condicut different kinds of relationships and then follows that with a warning, then a question and finally, an invitation. From this text we see how the Gospel can change a person into a crazy person (in a good way) for Jesus. | 10/13/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 5:16-25 Gospel Character | How can one tell if a person's character has been changed by the Spirit of God? Look at their life. The Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out so that our lives are marked by love, joy, peace etc... (Gal 5:22). | 10/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 5:1-15 Gospel Freedom | What is Freedom? Does it mean the absence of all boundaries? No. Does it mean doing anything you want? No. Gospel freedom is something else entirely. | 10/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 4:8-20 Gospel Centered Ministry & Why it's hard to be a Solo Christian | Paul writes to the Galatians that they have fallen back into idolatry--which results from losing a relationship with God. Paul can do this because he has a relationship with the Galatians. Paul told them “become like me for I became like you." From this we learn what Gospel centered ministry looks like. It's incarnational, like Jesus. He became like us so we could become like him. We also learn from Paul that we need people in our lives to hold us accountable--it's hard for that to happen when we're flying solo. | 9/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 3:26-4:7 Children of God: Why some people experience God and others don't | We've seen that the law showed us how much we needed God. So then what? Then, God sent his son to gain us our rights back into the family of God. Then what? Then God sent his spirit into our hearts so that we'd have an intimate relationship with God.What does this look like in real life? How come some people don't have this kind of experience? It's only as we meditate on what God has done, then we will understand. Special thanks to Tim Keller's small group study & teaching on this subject. Very useful and very used in this talk. Enjoy. | 9/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 3:15-25 The Gospel, the law and why the Golden rule isn't so Golden | Paul talks about how the law has a purpose. It is not irrelevant. The Law is a guard to keep us within certain bounds. It is also a tutor that instructs us so we can then be free to live. People who say they should just "be good" miss the point of the law. The law is supposed to point us to Jesus. Thinking God is impressed with our goodness is missing the point of the law. It was meant to show us sin so we'd reach for our only hope in Jesus Christ | 8/26/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 3:15-25 Conclusion | This was recorded on accident so we thought we'd include it. It's the band playing the closing song with David explaning how it relates to the talk & where we're going next. Thanks Band--you rock. This will give you a little insight to how we conclude things. | 8/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 3:1-14 The Gospel and the Double Cure | Once a person has received Christ's righteousness (justification), then what? Then do you just try really hard to be good. No. Sanctification is the process by which Christ changes us. In Christ's death on the cross, we receive his righteousness and chaging work in us (Justification & Sanctification). This is known as "The Double Cure" or "The Great reversal" or "Double Imputation". Wow--there's a lot of theological words that simply mean--IN CHRIST, WE'VE RECEIVED ALL WE'LL EVER NEED. | 8/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 2:11-21 Living out the Gospel | Peter moves his lunch tray across the room to avoid the Gentiles. Paul calls him out and tells him he's not living in line with the Gospel. What does this mean? It means that in Christ, you're as free as a dead man and as loved as if you'd lived Christ's perfect life. Living out the Gospel means we consider how Jesus treated us and live in line with that. It doesn't mean we live according to whatever false righteousness we think makes us "right." | 8/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 2:1-10 Unity in the Gospel | Should Titus get circumcised or not? The church could have split over the issue of becoming culturally Jewish in order to be acceptable to God, but it didn't. From this we learn how the Gospel sets us free culturally and psychologically. | 8/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 1:10-24 What a Gospel Changed Life Looks Like | In this section, Paul gives his testimony. From this, we learn how the Gospel changes lives and how it's not what people think. Man pleasing stops. People give glory to God. People realize that their badness can't lose them and that their goodness can't save them. | 8/3/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Galatians 1:1-9 Why the Gospel is different from everything else | Paul writes a letter to the Galatians who have been duped into thinking they have to be really good in order to stay in good standing with God. Here we learn that the Gospel is different from everything else because it's the only belief that can change what's on the inside. Everything else only deals with the things on the outside. | 7/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 14:53-72 The Trial & Denial of Jesus: Identifying idols | Jesus is arrested and Peter follows at a distance. While he warms himself by a fire with some soldiers, a servant girl challenges him on his association with Jesus. He denies it and calls down curses on himself. From this we learn Peter's idols of the heart and how Jesus can free him--and us. | 7/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 15:42-16:8 Why it's called "Good News" | Jesus body is burried and dead and on the 3rd day some women go to put perfume on the body. They discover the empty tomb. An angel tells them he is risen and they are afraid. This is the final word of the Gospel--why? This is what happens when humanity comes into contact with the Revelation of God. Though we may be confused and afraid--"the nightmare is over and morning is here." Special thanks to William Lane's commentary & lectures on this subject in the By/For Podcast. This talk concludes our study of Mark. | 7/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 15:1-41 Jesus suffering and death | Jesus is sentenced to die for the crime of claiming to be King of the Jews. Officially this is called "insurrection." The truth is, we must all see ourselves as "insurrectionists" or "rebels against God" before Jesus suffering and death will mean anything to us. | 6/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 14:27-52b Conclusion | This is the conclusion to the previous talk about what was in "the cup." It represented a separation from the father because it was full of sin which Romans 1 calls God's "wrath." | 6/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 14.27-52a The Temptation to be untrue to God | Jesus predicts he will be left alone. Peter faces the temptation to be untrue to God by making bold assertions that he will not do it. Jesus faces the temptation to be untrue to God by going to prayer. From this we see the horror of being separated from the father and that because this happened to Jesus, it doesn't have to happen to us. | 6/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 14:1-26 Our Ultimate Passover Lamb | Jesus accepts a most unusual bit of attention from a sinful woman who pours perfume and weeps on his feet. Soon after, Judas agrees to betray Him. Topping this all off, Jesus takes the traditional passover meal and adds a new significance to it, showing he is the ultimate sacrificial lamb sacrified for us. | 6/9/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 13 The Call to Vigilance | The disciples are more impressed with Herod's Temple than Jesus is. He tells them it's all going to be destroyed. Then he lays out details meant to call them to live vigilantly. Coupled with this are words of the ultimate end of time before the coming of the Son of Man. The Point? When the world falls apart, the people of God do not because their hope is in something unshakable--Jesus Christ. | 6/2/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 12:28-44 Sham Righteousness vs. the Real Deal | A teacher of the law asks Jesus what's the most important command. Shortly after Jesus answers, he sits down and sees a poor widow put two coins into the temple treasury. Jesus essentially says to his disciples: this is what real righteousness is about. We too need to put in what the widow did...everything. | 5/26/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mark 12:13-27 Mocking Jesus and Missing the Point | While the teachers of the law mock Jesus with silly questions, Jesus tries to help them see that they have missed the point. The point is that God has the power to change and transform...if we will let Him be our God. | 5/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
