Too Painful to Listen
Print and podcasts are two entirely different media. Some people are blessed with skills to command both, but you can't expect it. And that's the fatal flaw with Frommers: The information is good, the presentation is not.
Hosts giggle and interrupt their way through otherwise-interesting interviews and debates. (Right. Right. Right.) They turn quick questions into eternal ones. They redirect the spotlight from guests to themselves.
It gets so annoying that you can end up screaming at your iPod -- and how useful is that? -- begging the host to shut up and let the guest have his say.
And the sound quality ... well, that's another problem entirely.
I like Frommers travel guides and there's some potential here for a very nice series. But only if they take the podcast medium as seriously as they do print.
Rick Steves!
Has there ever been someone who you actually might consider letting them travel around the world for you? I mean really, I love to travel but sometimes I think I would just rather sit on the couch and live through Rick ;)
There are other cool travel podcasts like Amateur Traveler or Insider Perks, but honestly Rick is in a league of his own.
Loved It
Can't wait for the next one!
