Episode 128 – ORIGINALS: Interview with Lance Fensterman of ReedPop | We love geek-related conventions but admittedly didn’t know much about what it actually takes to organize one. We were fortunate enough to talk to Lance Fensterman of ReedPop, an organization that helps puts these type of events together. He talked about ReedPop began and what it takes to organize these events. Not only did we have a great time but also learned a lot, and our thanks goes out to Lance for taking the time to talk with us! | 3/21/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 127 – TV: The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale | Wow. Just wow. This episode was one of the best, if not the best, episode of The Walking Dead so far. It delivered on so many levels and teased so many more things to come. If next season goes where it appears to be going then we’re all in for a real treat. | 3/20/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 126 – GAMES: Star Wars: The Old Republic | Once again we’ve all been bitten by the MMO bug, this time with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Opey and Dave have been playing this for a while but thanks to a 7-day free trial Matt and Dan, along with some other of our friends, jumped on the bandwagon. Give a listen to this episode to find out what we like and don’t like so far about this game. | 3/18/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 125 – ORIGINALS: Shout-Outs! | At long last, the return of shout-outs! It’s been quite some time since we’ve done these so the topics are all over the place (and somewhat dated) but we have so much fun doing these episodes that when we had an opening in our schedule we just couldn’t pass it up. A BIG thanks to everyone who communicate with us on Facebook and Twitter. You’re the ones that make these episodes possible! | 3/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 124 – GAMES: Mass Effect 3 and SSX Demos | We love demos because we love video games but we’re also very cheap. Recently Xbox Live saw the release of two highly-anticipated upcoming (or recently released, depending on the date this post is released) releases, Mass Effect 3 and SSX. We tried out both and really enjoyed one while we thought the other was just mediocre. Which was which? Listen and find out! | 3/4/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 123 – MOVIES: Bloodrayne: The Third Reich | A while back we were challenged by longtime Geek Bits fan @JohnWBell to watch Bloodrayne: The Third Reich. This being a Uwe Boll film, we really didn’t want to do it, but we love our fans and we take our challenges seriously so we watched it. Listen to the episode below to hear our thoughts. (Hint: There’s a reason the episode is only 17 minutes long) | 3/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Geek Byte #24 – NerdPunch.com | We’re so excited to tell you about a new project that we’ve been working on for a while that we wanted to record a separate Geek Byte about it. Today sees the “official” launch of our new website, NerdPunch.com. Listen to the Geek Byte for more information, but it’s our new site where we can post all kinds of geek- and nerd-related things that we can’t cover on this podcast. For the seven of you who listen to the show, fear not. Nothing with the Geek Bits podcast or website is changing. We’ve just created a new place where we can share all the nerdy things we see and do. So listen to this episode then head over to NerdPunch.com for even more great stuff! | 2/24/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 122 – TV: The Walking Dead Mid-Season 2 Premier & Comic Book Men | At long last! We once again have a reason to stay up past 9:00 on Sunday night! The Walking Dead is back! And not only that, but afterwards was the premier of the new show Comic Book Men about the day-to-day shenanigans at Kevin Smith’s comic book store Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey. We watched both of these shows so you wouldn’t have to (though we’re sure you did) and have lots to say about them. What did you think about either, or both, of them? | 2/19/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 121 – GAMES: Interview with Philip Asher of Trendy Entertainment | Ah, interviews. We LOVE doing interviews. Getting to talk to the people that have a hand in creating the stuff that we love is simply awesome. This episode we had Philip Asher, Marketing Director & Designer for Trendy Entertainment, join us to talk about Dungeon Defenders, the history of Trendy and a little sneak peek of things to come. Not only that, but he also gave us four codes to download the game on Steam and we want to share those with you. All you have to do is either tweet the link to this episode with the hashtag #geekbits121 or share it on Facebook. We’ll give these codes to two random users from each network who do this, so start listening and start sharing! | 2/13/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 120 – TV: Super Bowl 2012 Commercials | It’s that time of year again (at least, it was last week) when companies across the globe spend LOTS of money on commercials that are intermixed with a major football game. While we’re all football fans and were interested in the game, it’s the commercials that we wanted to talk about this episode. There were a few great ones and a few terrible ones but mostly everything was just average. Which commercials were your favorite or most hated? | 2/11/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 119 – GAMES: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning | Hark, another game! This time we take a look at the demo for the new fantasy action RPG from EA and 38 Studios called Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. We all enjoyed it for the most part, though some more than others, and there was more than one comparison to that other action RPG that rhymes with “Cry Tim.” Have you played the demo (or the full game) and if so, who (if any) do you agree with? | 2/4/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 118 – TV: Alcatraz | Once again we’re taking a look at a new TV show, this time being the new Fox drama Alcatraz. While we all overall really like the show, there were a few differing opinions, as well as some comparisons to Lost. We’re not saying it’s that good, but we definitely think it could fill the void you might be feeling in between seasons of some of your other favorite shows. | 1/30/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 117 – GAMES: Dungeon Defenders | We love games, and even more than that we love playing games together. So you can imagine our excitement when Dave bought us all a copy of a lesser-known, tower defense/action RPG hybrid called Dungeon Defenders. We played this together over the course of a few nights (and some of us even longer than that) and, as you’ll hear, we think it’s definitely one you should check out. | 1/21/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 116 – TECH: CES 2012 | One of our favorite episodes each year is when we get to talk about all the cool stuff shown at CES, and this episode was no exception. There were so many cool things (and a few silly ones) displayed but we managed to pick a few of our favorites. What were you impressed with at CES? Episode 115 – ORIGINALS: Happy New Year! | Happy New Year everyone! We decided to do our New Year’s show exactly the same way we did last year and run down some of the most anticipated movies, games and events of 2012. It’s a long list and we ran a little long but we hope you enjoy. What are your most anticipated things for 2012? | 1/8/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 114 – ORIGINALS: 2011 Year in Review | It’s that time of the year again where the year…ends. It’s also that time of the year where we recap the year by listing the top five things that we most enjoyed during the year, with some honorable mentions thrown in for good measure. It’s been a great year for geeks, and for us. A big thank you to everyone who listened and supported us throughout the year. You are the reason we keep doing this and we hope to keep doing so for many years to come. Happy New Year! | 12/31/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 113 – ORIGINALS: Merry Geeksmas! | Here it is, just in time for Christmas, our present to you. Not only is Opey not in this episode, but the rest of us tell Santa Claus what geeky things they want for Christmas. After that we recount some of our favorite geek-related Christmas memories. Be sure to let us know what you want/receive for Christmas! Also, thanks to everyone for listening to the show and supporting us. We hope you have a Merry Christmas! | 12/24/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 112 – MOVIES: Trailers | Let us go ahead and preface this by saying this was recorded over a week ago, and we made the list of trailers we wanted to talk about a few weeks before that. With that said, these trailers are a little outdated. Still, there have been a lot of good trailers pop up on the internet over the last couple of months so we wanted to spend a little time talking about them. As you’ll hear, we definitely have some varying opinions. Who do you agree with? John Carter Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy Like Crazy Snow White & the Huntsman The Hunger Games The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch Project X Safe House The Expendables 2 Men in Black 3 G.I. Episode 111 – GAMES: Spike TV VGA 2011 Winners | Oh Spike TV, how you amuse us with your video games “awards” show. We definitely have some thoughts on the show itself but first we run down the list of winners to see how we did with our picks. Do you agree with the winners? | 12/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 110 – GAMES: Spike TV VGA 2011 Nominees | The Spike TV VGAs have about as much clout in the game industry as the MTV Movie Awards do in the movie industry. Still, we’re suckers for awards shows, especially ones that involve video games. As such, we thought we’d run down the list of nominees and make our predictions as to which games will win. Take a listen and let us know if you agree with our choices. | 12/8/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 109 – ORIGINALS: Shout-Outs! | Ah one of our favorite types of episodes. We love giving props to you, the listeners, and we also love the freedom to be complete idiots that these episodes bring. And, as you’ll hear, this one is no different. Jennifer Valimont and Jeff Trammell agree with us that Lori is triflin’ in The Walking Dead Caroline Selby thankful for Dr. Who Dean Oliver thankful for The Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chonicles (we think) Kendall Bess got the Batman: Arkham bundle and Yakuza 4 on Black Friday Caroline Selby got Big Bang Theory season 4 for $9 on Black Friday Aaron Wagner got Battlefield 3 for $30 on Black Friday posted a video for Lord of the Metal Rings on Facebook Dave2 and Mags Ruch like Dave’s like of Rayman Origins Geoff Ellingwood In response to the gingerbread AT-AT, “If I’m destroying an AT-AT, I’m going after the Empire” Jeremy Burg likes The Walking Dead Omnibus vol. 1 said the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead was an amazing episode likes the interview with Norman Reedus about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead likes the new YouTube look @traviswyatt said the most fun he had in WoW was getting his Kaza key and ganking Horde on the boats @JohnWBell wants us to watch/review Bloodrayne: The Third Reich @GreaAreaPodcast ROFL at Matt’s randy Thanksgiving mood in episode 107. “Some people eat turkey, some people stuff it.” @Tinzien ALL his tweets E-mail from Jason Elam | 12/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 108 – TV: The Walking Dead Mid-Season 2 Finale | Still reeling from our over-indulgence of turkey and yams, we decide to break routine just a bit this episode and talk about the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead. We wouldn’t be doing this if it weren’t outrageously good (at least three of us thought so) as we normally just bookend the season of a TV show instead of talking about it in the middle of the season. Be warned, we definitely talk spoilers so if you haven’t watched it yet do yourself a favor and do so before listening to this episode. Trust us, you don’t want this ruined. | 12/2/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 107 – ORIGINALS: Happy Geeksgiving! | Ah, Thanksgiving. The time of year when we reflect on our lives and give thanks for all of our good fortunes. The time we get together with family and eat until we can’t eat any more but do so anyway. We wanted to do that same thing here on Geek Bits (only without the food, though it’s likely Opey was eating during the recording) but with an obvious geeky twist. In this episode we go around the virtual table and talk about any and all geek-related things that we’re thankful for. What in the geek world are you thankful for? | 11/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 106 – GAMES: What We’ve Been Playing | It’s no secret that our episode schedule has been a little haphazard lately, and as much as we’d like to say it’s because we’ve been contemplating world peace, alas, that’s not true. We’ve been playing video games. Really good video games at that. So we thought we’d spend an hour (and twenty minutes) telling you about the games we’ve been playing and what we love so much about them that we have shunned all of our other responsibilities. What games have you been playing lately? | 11/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 105 – TV: Homeland | Not only do we once again talk about another TV show, but this time we do it completely opposite of the way we normally do by discussing the new Showtime drama Homeland in the middle of the season rather than the beginning and end. We absolutely love this show and talk about it all the time anyway when we’re not recording so we figured we’d go ahead and make an episode about it. Not only do we highly recommend watching this show but we also highly recommend you listening to our thoughts on it. | 11/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 104 – TV: Hell on Wheels | We know what you’re thinking…TV? Again? Yes, TV again. We honestly didn’t plan it this way but there’s so much good stuff on TV right now that that’s all we’ve been doing lately (when we’re not playing Batman: Arkham City and Skyrim, but that’s for another show). This time we take a look at the new AMC drama Red Dead Redemption Hell on Wheels. Do we think this is worthy enough to follow The Walking Dead on Sunday nights? You’re one click of a “Play” button away from finding out. | 11/15/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 103 – GAMES: (Retiring from) World of Warcraft | Oh World of Warcraft, how we’ve invested years of our lives in you. But like all good things, our relationship with you must too come to an end. We realized that our lack of excitement about the new WoW expansion during this year’s Blizzcon meant that we were finally moving on from this most massive of MMOs so we thought we’d give it a proper send off by remembering some of our favorite moments from the game. With this episode we are officially retiring from the game and this topic and we finally hang the WoW jersey from the Geek Bits rafters. | 11/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 102 – TV: Grimm | We stick with TV for this episode and give our opinions about another premier, this time about the new NBC fantacy/crime drama Grimm. Dan was had been very excited for this show for a long time while the other guys were just lukewarm about it. Did anyone’s opinions change after seeing the premier episode? Episode 101 – TV: Beavis and Butt-Head | We begin our second set of 100 episodes by offering some thoughts on the return of a beloved (to some) show about two complete losers making fun of things on TV and getting into all kinds of trouble. No, they didn’t make a show about Opey and Dan, we’re talking about Beavis and Butt-Head. Does the show still hold up today? Does it offer anything new or the same dumb humor from 15 years ago? Take a listen and find out. | 11/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 100 Spooktacular! | We did it! After more than two long years we finally entered triple digits with episode 100. And given the time of year, what better way to celebrate than by serving up an extra-special Halloween-themed episode. We kick things off with our review (sort of) of the 2007 Halloween classic Trick ‘r Treat. We even have some clips of us watching it to boot. Then we move to the silver screen and offer up some thoughts on the new FX hit American Horror Story. After that we just sit back and talk about some scary stories that actually happened to us. We hope you enjoy, and we definitely want to give a big THANK YOU to all of our loyal listeners have stuck with us over these last 100 episodes and continue to do so week-to-week (or day-to-day). We couldn’t do it without you! Well, we could, but we wouldn’t! Probably. | 10/31/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 99 – ORIGINALS: Shout-Outs! | Here it is! The last of our double-digit episodes and the precursor to our gala 100th episode! We decided to dedicate this monumental occasion to you, our loyal fans, by giving you more shout-outs and talking about the things that you guys are talking to us about (get all that?). We had a blast recording this episode and hope you like listening to it just as much. Cindy Duck likes The Walking Dead season 2 props video Trevor Martin, Johnathan Bell and Caroline Selby likes the Avengers trailer Geoff Ellingwood shared the link about Barnes & Noble pulling DC Graphic Novels from shelves Beth Litke likes the Star Wars Scout Trooper PC tower Jeremy Burg rolls his eyes at CW signing a deal with Netflix likes the Walking Dead half-off sale on comiXology (no longer active) Trevor Martin liked the season 2 premier of The Walking Dead Bev Witt didn’t like how the season 2 premier of The Walking Dead ended Dean Oliver said the season 2 premier of TWD was decent w/ lots of character development but didn’t have much action. Episode 98 – TV: The Walking Dead Season 2 Premier | Was there any doubt that we’d be talking about this? The Walking Dead is a Geek Bits Hall of Fame topic and after what seemed like the longest year EVER we finally get to see the premier to season 2. We’re sure you can guess what we thought about it, but listen on just to be sure. | 10/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 97 – TV: Dexter Season 6 Premier | One of our favorite shows in recent years, Dexter, saw the premier of its sixth season just a couple of weeks ago. Three episodes have aired as of this posting, but we couldn’t let that stop us from discussing our opinions of the first episode. How do we think it holds up against other seasons? Give a listen and hear for yourself. | 10/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 96 – ORIGINALS: Flickchart | Kind of ironic that we categorized this episode as “Originals” because we completely and utterly stole this idea from The Totally Rad Show. It’s like you’ve heard us say before: It looks like they have such a fun time doing this that we wanted in on the action as well. This time around we add several more movies to our list and, surprise surprise, we don’t all see eye to eye. But that’s the fun of it, right? | 10/13/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 95 – GAMES: Battlefield 3 Beta | The Battlefield 3 beta hit Xbox Live, PSN and PC just a few days ago so we all decided to try it out. Did the anti-FPS Matt like it? Did the CoD-loving Dan think it measured up to his other beloved shooter? Was the Xbox Live-challenged Opey able to connect and play with everyone? Did the busy-as-a-bee Dave have a chance to play it? The answers to these questions and more await you in this episode! | 10/8/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Customer Reviews
Yes,there is a differance between nerds and geeks.
So your thinkin I must have given it 5 stars to be polite right?? This assumption would be incorrect.I view this podcast as sort of a Sportscenter for tech and entertainment. One thing I enjoyed very much was the indepth comic analysis. Most of the commentating I've heard on comic characters feels abit artificial in that they understand the basic character concepts. For example they hold a 10 minute conversation on why Batmans cool based on obvious info from te movie series. This podcast mentioned in depth info on Marvels super villan Galactus and his abilities.Aswell as the origins if Magnito and his life prior to kicking around the X-Men.I'm the type that appreciates this depth.I to a lesser extint enjoyed the Anime dialogue but im certain the fans of the art can appreciate it.I appreciated the direction that was given through out the podcast for fans that may be new to entertainment and tech info. The obvious Tennessee accents did occassionally frighten me,but the depth of content from these tech savy twenty somethings more than makes up for these southern roots ;' p j/k,j/k go vols!!
Fun and educational
I've enjoyed listening to every episode of Geek Bits. The guys are funny and a lot of the topics (especially the tech) are really informative to geeks like me who don't really keep up with all the latest news. I look forward to each new episode and hope to hear more from these guys in the future. :)
Great geeks
It's nice to hear average guys discussing cool stuff. Usually I'm relegated to getting this sort of information from the better than thou "elitist" we all know so well. Most of us have other priorities and lives (unfortunately) outside of our hobbies. You guys help us realize that we can still make time for the finer things in life, even with a busy schedule. Keep it up and good luck.
