We didn't find one particular product was inedible, but we also didn't find one that really knocked our socks off, either -- what we found was several products that all did what they were supposed to do: taste like food instead of cardboard. And the food from R.W. Garcia is worth a go. We took it to a party of non-GFers and tested it out. No complaints, just comments about how fun the chips looked. This is a good thing. In fact, the original flavor has just 1 gram of sugar, which explains why we preferred the other two flavors. Descriptive, informative, GREAT!
Debbie and MIke have a great show. They include all the information I'm looking for, including other allergens (dairy for me) and whether the product was produced in a gluten-free facility. When they describe how it could be a better product, or things they like about it, they always give a caveat about their personal preferences (e.g., "wish it was saltier but I like a lot of salt"). These comments are great because then I can pick amongst the products based on my preferences (e.g., when they think it's not salty enough I know it will be just right for me - I'm not a salt fan!). I've purchased several products after watching their reviews (e.g., RW Garcia chips - the Thai and also Flax are fabulous!) and never would have found these products without them. With gluten-free labeling the way it is, it's not obvious what you can and can't have, so some aisles I had given up going down. It's nice to have specific products in the back of your mind as well as a current image of the products as you go shopping. THANKS DEBBIE & MIKE!
Excellent Introduction to Gluten-Free Products
I love watching Debbie and Mike's reviews of gluten-free foods. Debbie is gluten-free, and Mike isn't, so you get opinions from both sides of the fence. A lot of people that aren't gluten-free have a better comparison since they can eat "real" food too. Debbie and Mike give great information - usually about foods I haven't tried before. Love their style. If you're gluten-free, or want to know more about gluten-free products, this is the place to be!
