| 13 | VideoHubblecast 43: Hubble and Black Holes | For centuries, scientists imagined objects so heavy and dense that their gravity might be strong enough to pull anything in - including light. They would be, quite literally, a black hole in space. | 2/28/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 14 | VideoHubblecast 42: Hubble's Greatest Hits | What makes a scientific discovery really important? It's partly down to how much scientists use the discovery in subsequent work -- but it’s also partly down to what inspires their imagination. Brief and interesting
This is a great podcast for those interested in astronomy. It's not long at all, has great graphics, it's interesting and it doesn't take 30 minutes to get to a point. I highly recommend it. For the podcast that aren't posted in iTunes, you can go to the website and download them in different formats and sizes. Enjoy!
Dr. VegasIII Does Not Understand
I read with amusement the review of Dr. VegasIII. Clearly s/he does not understand the economics of podcasting. Apple does not store podcasts at their site, they merely list them in iTunes and connect listener to producer. So, to suggest that Apple _should_ convert these is ludicrous. The format of the podcast is not selected by Apple, but by the producer (ESA/Hubble, in this case). But, <sarcasm> perhaps Apple is secretly funding ESA/Hubble to produce HD podcasts to force us all to purchase Apple TVs so we can watch such high-demand content</sarcasm>. Let's not forget that this content is essentially provided for free. Stop complaining and enjoy the show.
hubblecast hd
I have latest 10.4.10, and latest iTunes. Using a Mac Pro quad desktop. I do not have Apple TV, because the Apple TV spec is 720p rather than 1080i or p. The video does not play on my computer, but instead flickers. Similar result for Washington Post HD podcast. I know they are free, but these don't have to be worthless.
