6 VideoMichael Pittock Michael Pittock is a Forestry Officer. After he realised that a photography course was not what he wanted to do he asked himself "'what do I enjoy in life? Where do I like being?' - the forest was one of those things". He started a Forestry course, and went to work for the Forestry Commission. He loved the countryside ever since he was a boy, when he spent his holidays on the farm where his grandad worked. 12 VideoSarah Cooke - Design Manager Sarah Cooke is a Design Manager for Bovis Lend Lease, she wanted to be an architect at school but failed her A levels and took a glass design course instead. "I thought, 'What am I doing here? I've always wanted to be an architect, not a glass blower.'" So she retook her A levels and went on to qualify as an architect. 14 VideoJane Tomlinson - Trading Standards Officer Jane Tomlinson is Principal Trading Standards Officer for North East Lincolnshire County Council. She had no idea what to do when she left school. A friend of her mum's suggested doing a degree specifically to train in trading standards or consumer protection law. She realised it was a field which combined law, which was what she was interested in, with getting out and about. She took up the suggestion and qualified as a trading standards officer eight years ago. "No two days are the same. Last week, I was out testing petrol measures making sure that when you pay for a litre of petrol, you get a litre of petrol. This morning, I was sampling bird feed. Her big break was literally a big break because she broke her leg falling off a horse while she was working in a casino. While she was resting up she saw her dream job advertised - assistant to a famous racehorse trainer. "I decided that, despite the break, I wanted to get back and work with horses full time and that was it, from then on it was what I wanted to do, and I knew it for a fact then." 30 VideoTim Lovejoy - TV Presenter Tim Lovejoy is a TV Presenter, Producer and Writer. When he left school he went to work at a company selling mortgages, but knew this wasn't his dream job. So he decided to try to get a job as a TV presenter - "I was working for free during the days at any TV company I could get my hands on, and then at night I'd do bar jobs or I'd try and go on tour flogging t-shirts with bands". He took the line of least resistance through school and university and had some success and a bit of luck in the music industry.
