From Dream to Self-Employment - Jun 09,2011 | Self-Employment, Self-sufficiency… these are lovely terms that many of us dream will come true for us. There are a lot of people out there with some fantastic business ideas, services and products – some of these could really make a positive difference in society or help improve the health of the planet in some way. Others might have inventions – perhaps someone has an emergency mechanism to minimize or eliminate ocean oil extraction issues… but we feel too small, to inadequate, too inexperienced to take the leap. Or perhaps we are ready to take the leap personally, but are just not prepared financially or don’t have a realistic plan to follow. Without all of these things in place, we cannot hope to reach our dream – and today’s guest is here to show us how we can do this. We have with us a Victor Kwegyir: a UK-based business consultant, business motivational speaker and the author of The Business You Can Start: Spotting The Greatest Opportunities in the Economic Downturn. Poetry - Unexpected & in the Raw - Jan 11,2011 | Today's featured guest, was unable to call in - AKK! So I was challenged to come up with content without a contingency show! lol - Serves me right for not being as prepared for such an event as I usually am. Anyway, what I did instead was to spontaneously read some poetry written since the release of my book Towards Understanding's first edition (2004). This book is now in a revised, 2nd edition e-book format & will be released in print in June 2011. In the meantime, I hope you check out the e-book. Although all but one of the poems I read today have been published in many different periodicals, I had not yet read many of them out loud - so listeners are able to hear a raw, unpracticed reading of the poetry. :) This poetry, you heard today, will be included in the upcoming book I am co-writing with Dave that is scheduled for release in early 2012. Green Funerals - Feb 04,2010 | A recent AARP poll asked: Which type of burial is most appealing? Only 8% polled wanted a traditional cemetery burial and only 18% chose cremation. 70.4% of those polled through the AARP website chose Green Burial. In Europe green burial and natural burials are all the rage, here in North America we seem to be just catching on to the idea. Although green burial is a hot topic, the public is not too familiar with what it really means. So what is this all about? – We’ll find out today through our very special guest Elizabeth Fournier of Cornerstone Funeral Services & Cremation. She works as a green mortician, educator and advocate who is always ready to lend a hand, or a shovel. She is the voice of the autopsy exhibit in the forensic wing at the United States National Museum of Medicine, and recently published her memoir, All Men Are Cremated Equal: My 77 Blind Dates. Internet... a dangerous asset - Dec 10,2009 | Sue Scheff, John W. Dozier, Jr., & Michael Fertik have combined their strengths to produce an interesting and helpful guide for today’s Internet user: Google Bomb. Just recently I was listening to an interview with an amazing blogger who created a full-time business out of his blogging efforts within a year of starting out… with no prior experience. Tales like this are enticing more and more traffic online with hopes of networking, creating friends or getting the word out about their products and services. Yet there is also a lot of fear. We often hear about facebook and myspace horror stories, even a twitter site from a writer-friend of mine was hacked for a short time… We might also have concerns about shopping online, providing information online… So today’s guest are going to answer all our questions. Remember, we welcome questions so those in the chat room and other live or archived listeners are invited call in or contact us with your thoughts on today’s show.
