Explicit#71: This Should Be The Gang | This week, fire up your on-deck wine glasses for the welcome return of Cougar Town. The EHG gang digs into the third season premiere and tries not to feel too guilty about being really happy with “Extra Hot Great” as a show title. Then, it’s on to the obsessive charms of My Strange Addiction, where hard-bodied cars tart themselves up until they’re just ASKING for a little action PLUS, two Tiny Triumphs, a Canon submission for a pivotal episode of Gilmore Girls, a winner, a loser, and the white-hot patriotism of another Game Time. Explicit#70: Snoring On The River | Joe, Dave, and Tara give the new series The River a fair chance: is it a watershed moment for supernatural dramas, or a washout? Keeping the spooky theme going, we consider a user’s Canon submission: the “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space’” episode of The X-Files. We name the week’s Winner and Loser (with Dave getting in on the action for a change), and wrap it up with a nice, shouty Game Time. Explicit#69: Smashed | The new, barely-advertised NBC musical drama “Smash” has the EHG crew — and special guest Dan D’Addario — torn. Does it live up to the ofty expectations of Broadway fans, or is Joe a fanwanking sucker? Followed by a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” discussion that doesn’t f**k it up, a Non-Crackpot Theory that wants you to remember the time Cliffhanger scaled that mountain, and Dan’s submission of the pilot of “Alias” is put to the Canon test. The week’s winner and loser are declared, and Game Time wants to make it with you. Take your seats and put your phones on silent — the show’s about to start. With those two very different stories squared away, it’s on to Oscar nomination analysis from Smooth Joey Apollo, and then a Tiny Triumph from Dave. Explicit#67: Ass Kicked By Girl | Steven Soderbergh directed a movie about a hard-fighting secret agent, starring an actual UFC fighter. What, like we WEREN’T going to see Haywire? After discussing this momentous event, we address the season premieres of Archer and Justified, and then it’s on to a user’s Canon submission: Downton Abbey Season 1, Episode 3 (a.k.a. “Mr Pamuk!”). Speaking of Marks, we also dip into Mark Wahlberg’s latest magnum opus Contraband. We consider Real Mark’s emission of Roseanne to The Canon for the first time, with his submission of the episode “Homeward Bound.” From there, it’s on to the week’s Winner and Loser, and then on to Mark’s first Game Time appearance of the season. Explicit#65: What We Watched On Vacation | It’s the first EHG of 2012, and Tara, Dave, and Joe are back from their respective holiday retreats. Over the break, as is required, massive amounts of movies and TV shows were consumed. From Mission: Impossible to The Good Wife to Sherlocks Holmes (TWO versions), it’s a potluck of holiday entertainment. Then, it’s a flashback to 2004 for the Canon, as Lost‘s “House of the Rising Sun” is submitted for evaluation, plus the week’s winner and loser, and another stressful TV-theme-song Game Time. Customer Reviews
Funny, smart and full of GAME TIME!
A perfect group of talented writers doesn't always translate to a great podcast but these guys do an amazingly seamless job. Equal parts pop culture criticism & humor, Dave T. Cole, Joe Reid & Tara Ariano and their compelling list of guest stars offer a smart, snarky cocktail of fun & frivolity not to be missed!
From a podcast nerd
One of the best podcasts around.
Best
This is the funniest podcast I listen to. The game time is great. Unlike a lot of podcasts where people just chit chat, this one has defined segments that are flexible enough that people can talk about whatever their opinion is. The gametime is amazing; these folks have obviously known each other for years but let you in on their inside jokes. Really, really worth listening to.
