I'm interviewing you right now on Skype, and while I was doing the introduction, my mom started skyping me (laughs), so, I got distracted. But, that's not the point. How are you doing? Everything good? KIMBERLY: I am doing fantastic! LESLIE: Okay good. So now, for those people that don't know how to say your name correctly, can you say it for us? KIMBERLY: Yes. It's "Go-ti-AY." Yes, it has been making a consistent passive income, but it's time to take things to the next level. Since I've been sooo busy, I haven't had time to do ANY work on the site. The last video I posted was back in February. So what I decided to do was bring on a team of writers. Well, this is the first week that I have writers publishing to my blog and I'm excited about it. So I wanted to share with you what I've done to facilitate this process and make it run relatively smoothly. In this episode, I talk about how to set up your Authority Blog to work without you. Why you would want to set your blog up in this way Less work for you to do because your blog functions without you. Takes time to build, but the rewards are GREAT Helps in building a community. When Others feel involved, they feel as a part of something significant and want to help it succeed. You get other people involved in promoting the blog. In today's episode, I am going to be talking about, get this, I am going to be talking about, "How to build an authority blog that works without you!" It's not something I'd only talk about, but it's something I'm going through now. I am building up my Interactive Biology site, and I'm trying to structure it, not I'm trying to structure it. I'm structuring it in a way that it works without me, the things get done that needs to get done, and the website gets built stronger, more authoritative over time. So, that's what we're going to talk about today. Actually, I have a lot to talk about today. Yes, I am going to talk about how to build an authority blog that works without you, but before I do that, I'm going to make an announcement, and this announcement is kind of exciting to me. Hopefully, it's kind of exciting to you. It doesn't have to do, well, no it has... you know what? I'll just make the announcement when I make it. 071 How To Optimize Your Blog From The Layout To The Way Out | In last week's episode I said a phrase that just stuck with me - "From the layout to the way out". Not only did it stick with me, I also got a call from a friend of mine and also from a listener who commented on that phrase. I like it! What I meant was that once you have your single focus, that needs to be clear from the layout of your site (i.e. the blog design) to the way out of the site (i.e. your links and the products you promote). So, I decided to run with it, and make this episode about how to Optimize your blog from the Layout to the Way Out. | 4/10/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

068 My Life Story: How I got Into Internet Marketing And What I’ve Learnt Along The Way | This episode is gonna be kinda different . . . One of the things we teach inside Become A Blogger is that bloggers should take some time and write out their life stories as it pertains to their blogs. This is a very good thing to do because it helps your audience to be able to connect with you as a person - not just a website with great content, but a great person with a great website with great content. So, I decided that I need to walk the walk, but do it in my own unique way - instead of writing my life story, I decided to record a podcast episode about my life story. Yep, it's all about who I am in this episode. Well, not really. It's moreso about how I came to be doing what I'm doing today and what lessons I've learnt along the way. I really have learnt a lot and continue to learn more every day, which is why I REALLY love what I do. So, sit back, relax, grab a cup of Tea (or whatever you do when you're relaxing) and get to know me a little better. Inside This Episode, I talk about: My childhood and how it set the stage for what I do today My experience leaving St. Maarten and moving to the United States How my relationship with God affected my life The book that gave me the Entrepreneurial urge My past FAILED "internet marketing" experiences How I made $70 in my first day as a real Internet Marketer How and Why I started my Biology Blog How blogging has enhanced what I do There's a lot in this episode, and I'm excited to share it with you. Hope you enjoy! Leave a comment below and let me know what you thought. If you are one of those people, not to worry – We’ve made the transcript available for you below. [spoiler] Introduction (Intro by Guy Kawasaki, Gideon Shalwick, and Farnoosh Brock) Hello, hello, hello and welcome to another episode of Learning with Leslie -- by now, I'm guessing you already know the name of the podcast, this podcast where you learn, I learn, we all learn about those things like Internet marketing, online business, blogging, traffic generation, social media, you know - all that www stuff. I started this podcast to share what I’ve learned about Internet Marketing, and what I’m still learning today, and to interview other experts who can help us all along in our blogging journeys. I’m your host, Leslie Samuel, the Internet Marketing teacher from LearningWithLeslie.com. And, I have another exciting episode for you today. Actually, this is a very special episode. I'm going to be... It's going to be different from normal. I'm actually going to be talking about how I got into Internet Marketing, and what I've learned along the way. Basically, I'm going to be giving you my life story from beginning to end, well, not end. Hopefully, it doesn't end anytime soon. But, I'm going to be giving you some insight into how I got to where I am, and what I'm doing. So, that's what I'm going to talk about today. The Early Phases in Blogging You know, it's interesting because one of the things that I teach people to do, and I recommend for people to do, is when they're starting a blog, one of the first things that they should focus on is writing their life story. That's something that I learned from Yaro Starak when I first started blogging, and it's something that's very significant because what it helps to do is it helps to get people that visit your blog to understand who you are because when it comes to blogging, it's not just about the information that you're delivering. It's not just about what you can teach, but it's about who you are. And, the more you can let your personality shine through in everything that you do online, the more successful your blog is going to be. The Story of Me That's something that I've seen with myself. That's something that I've seen with many of the people that I've interviewed, | 3/20/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

067 How to Network for Online Success – with Farnoosh Brock | Who: Farnoosh Brock Website: Prolific Living Podcast: The Daily Interaction - Subscribe in iTunes or Stitcher Connect: Farnoosh on Twitter and Facebook A few months ago, I mistakenly sent an email to Farnoosh Brock, because I thought she was someone else. That was awkward, right? Well not at all. Farnoosh used that as an opportunity to connect with me in a way that left an impression of me and what has developed since is one of the best friendships I've established with someone online. (Check out my Previous interview with Farnoosh). Since then, I've met a number of people who know her and they all have the same thing to say about her - she's such an awesome person. What I realized was this - Farnoosh is AWESOME at connecting (and networking) with others online. This is something that is very powerful, and I wanted to get her on here to talk about HOW she goes about networking with others in this "internetty world". Facebook and Twitter has often been looked at as platforms that have made our interactions more "shallow", but if we use it correctly, they can actually help us establish REAL relationships and REAL friendships. As entrepreneurs, networking is essential. Listen to this interview and find out how to do it the RIGHT way. Inside this interview, we cover: How networking has benefited Farnoosh Why Networking is so important How to Manage contacts effectively Why it is important to CARE! How to make people feel special online Why Live meet ups are so significant Farnoosh also runs a podcast called The Daily Interaction, where she talks about talks about all the social exchanges in your world and helps you to be effective and understood. It's a podcast that's on my shortlist of podcasts that I listen to, and if you are at all interested in understanding these exchanges and taking them to the next level, I highly recommend for you to check it out. 066 Ten Ways To Maximize Your Investment In ANY Coaching Program | A lot of people join Coaching Programs online on a number of different topics, especially in the Internet Marketing circle. However, only a small fraction of the people who join actually accomplish some level of success? Why, because most people go about it the wrong way. In today's episode, I give 10 ways to Maximize your investment in any coaching program, regardless of the topic. Before I get into the meat of the episode, I make 2 announcements and answer a question from the hotline Announcement #1 - Become A Blogger 2.0 is coming VERY soon. In fact, we're holding a LIVE Webinar on Thursday to Kick it Off and will be giving away a TON of Valuable info, in addition to some gifts on the live webinar. Announcement #2 - I've set up some easy URLs for you to connect with me on Social Networking Sites: LeslieOnFacebook.com LeslieOnTwitter.com LeslieOnPlus.com - in the episode I said LeslieOnGooglePlus.com, but that was the wrong URL LeslieOnYoutube.com LeslieOnPinterest.com Butch Gibson called in to ask if it's a good idea to target specific keywords phrases by using one of the keywords and not the others, or by using a different variation on the keyword. I answer his question in some detail, showing that it all depends on what you are targeting and how closely the content relates to the keywords. Listen to the episode to understand my explanation. The Feature Segment Alrighty, here are the 10 ways I talk about to help you maximize your investment in ANY Coaching Program: Only take part in ONE coaching Program, especially if you're a beginner. Avoid the Shiny object syndrome. There are always other programs out there, and other "gurus" out there encouraging you to buy their program, because it's the best thing since sliced bread. However, you should choose a program that solves the problem you are dealing with at the time, and focus on that program. Take Notes. Most coaching programs these days are video-based. It can be annoying to try to sort through a bunch of videos to find a specific topic. By taking notes, and doing so in an organized way, you are better able to keep track of the main ideas, and to focus on what needs to be done. Take Consistent Action. Yes, if you've been listening to me for a while, then you've heard me mention this a Billion and a half times. In fact, I dedicated an entire episode (Episode 63) to the topic. Don't just learn. Learn and act immediately. Ask too many questions - Even the annoying ones. Yes, you can spend hundreds of hours trying to find the answer to a simple question, or you can just ask someone who knows. If you are in a good training program, there will be ways for you to ask questions. Take advantage of those systems. Connect with others in the program. Building a business is hard work. Building a business alone is MUCH HARDER. No man is an island. We all need people to help us accomplish our goals, especially if those goals are HUGE. If you are in a coaching program, there will most likely be other like-minded individuals in that program. Seek them out, connect with them, share ideas and grow together. Hold each other accountable. One of the best decisions I've made since getting into blogging has been to not only connect with other like-minded individuals, but to have a select few that hold each other accountable. That extra accountability has done wonders to increase my productivity. I would recommend for you to do the same. Take one step at a time. Multitasking sucks. We think we're good at it, but it's not true. In 2005, a study showed that individuals who were multitasking during an IQ test scored an average of 6 points lower than individuals who were stoned on marijuana. Focus on one aspect of the program at a time. Repeat the coaching program and see what you missed. This is something I still do today. I've been fortunate to go through A NUMBER of coaching programs on specific topics related to internet marketing and blogging. | 3/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

046 Setting up a Blog Blueprint for Blogging Success | In today's episode, I talk about something that I'm in the process of doing - setting up a Blog Blueprint for my blog. The concept is very simple, if you are going to build a house, the first step in that process is to get an architect to draw up a blueprint. Without a blueprint, the carpenters will be wandering in the dark, and the end product will most likely NOT be what you are looking for. If your blog is to be something substantial, something of value, it's a great idea to use this same principle and develop a blueprint. | 11/1/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

035 How to narrow down the topic of your eBook for greatest impact – Coaching call with Rochelle | Working on an ebook? Listen to this episode . . . This is the second in the Reality Internet Marketing series, I do a coaching call with Rochelle Hanson from Simply Natural Ideas - a blog that gives practical tips for natural health & wellness. We start off by talking about how Rochelle got to where she is today with her blogs, what her plans are and why she blogs? She set up her blog will going through my 7 day bootcamp and has been thoroughly enjoying the process of building her blog. In this first episode, Rochelle talks about an eBook she has been trying to write but hasn't been able to finish as yet. So we talk about how she can narrow down the topic of her eBook to be able to accomplish more, solve a specific problem for those who read it, make it actionable, and use it to grow her list. Often times, we get delayed because of lack of clarity, so I wanted to address this with her so that by our next coaching call, she'll be able to say that she has that eBook finished. By the next episode, Rochelle's task is to have her eBook completed and ready to move on. The great thing about it is that by her doing this coaching call and having me post it on my blog as a part of my podcast, she gets all of us to check out what she's doing and to hold her accountable. Talk about pressure :) I'm excited about this series and about the rest of the coaching calls. The next coaching call is actually a coaching call with an author of a book that I've read - one that I loved so much that I had to take a copy of it home to St. Maarten for my mother to read. 033 Avoid being Hacked. The Future of Learning With Leslie. More Coaching Calls. | There is so much going on right now. Really, a lot. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how I find the time to do all this stuff, but I'm having so much fun that I JUST CAN'T STOP, lol. If there was ever an episode to listen to from beginning to end, this is it. Why? Because I talk about the future, and that's always fun and interesting ;) Anyways, There are two parts to today's episode. In the first part, I answer a question that came in from John, from Ask John English about how to avoid getting your site hacked. If you don't already know, last week (or something like that), my site was hacked. It was very annoying. Unfortunately, as your site gets more exposure, you open yourself up to some malicious people every once in a while. I've been hacked before, so it's nothing new, but it's just as annoying. I actually intended on eventually recording an episode talking about the same topic, but when John called in the question, I decided to include it in this episode. So that's the first part. In part 2, I talk about the Future of Learning With Leslie. I've really been enjoying what I do here at Learning With Leslie, as you can probably already tell. Some recent events have lead me to make some changes - changes that I think you will enjoy. I'm not going to give it all away in the show notes because I want you to listen to the actual episode, but I say one concrete thing and then give you teasers for the rest. The first thing is that instead of posting a new episode once weekly, I will be posting 2 episodes weekly - one on Tuesday and the other on Thursday. Secondly, YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO THIS THURSDAY'S EPISODE! No seriously, you do. I did an interview with someone last week Thursday and have been dying to post it, lol. Well, it's gonna be up this Thursday. Don't miss that one. Also, I'm doing more coaching calls and a new Reality Show! What in the world am I talking about? 028 The Secret Behind My Awesome Videos and why I don’t Charge you to see them | Today I'm dealing with two calls. The first is from Glen Steinson from the Stewardship Weekly Podcast. He calls in to give me his opinion about what I'm doing here at Learning With Leslie. I was so inspired by his message that I decided to seek him out, and ended up listening to his recent podcast entitled Peter Zein Will Never Reach Financial Independence. This episode inspired me tremendously and I can actually say that I no longer want to be Financially Independent. Wanna know what I mean by that? Go ahead and check out that episode. Then I get into the meat and bones of the episode by answering two questions that were called in by Paul from the Anxiety Guru blog. His questions were the following: How do I make my Biology Videos? What Makes a video engaging, interesting and worth watching Why do I give my videos away for free, instead of charging a premium? What are the pros and cons of Free vs. Paid. I answer these great questions in this episode. Since they are topics that I'm heavily involved in, I decided to spend most of the episode dealing with them. As I've already said in detail, I've left my former job, and my wife and I are moving to a new location. I'm excited, but that's not what the episode is about :) This episode is fully devoted to answer 2 questions that were left on the hotline by John from AskJohnEnglish.com. His 2nd question was so good that I decided not to just answer it at the beginning of the podcast. His 2 questions were: What do I think about plugins like WP Total Cache that claim to increase the speed of loading your blog? How in the world do I manage to get so much done online, while having a full-time job? He wanted me to give an idea of how I spend an average day. So, in my answers to his questions, you will learn . . . Part 1 What Cache is. How Caching increases the speed of your site. What Cache plugins (like W3 Total Cache) do. 025 How to get Joint Venture Partners to send you tons of Traffic | Traffic, Traffic, Traffic. That's the big thing that most people have the hardest time with when it comes to online business. One of the best ways of getting traffic to your site is by having Joint Venture (JV) Partners - People who already have an audience and are willing to promote your product/service. This is invaluable because it's traffic that you don't have to generate yourself. But here's the problem - Most people go about trying to get JV Partners the wrong way - by sending them an email asking them to promote their product. The likelihood of that succeeding is close to 0%. I've gotten a number of JV requests from people who want me to promote their products, and I've never accepted any of them. Why? Because my list is EXTREMELY valuable to me, and I don't want to take the risk of exposing them to something that I'm not 100% confident in. My list has grown to trust me as a source of reputable info, and that's something I'm not willing to compromise. Not only that, but there are so many well-established products out there that there's no real reason to promote a random product that someone sends you, without having an awesome reason for doing so. With all of that said, there's a right way to go about getting joint venture partners, and that's what I deal with in this episode. You will learn . . . How to get on the radar of big bloggers in your niche How to nurture relationships with them How to get them to promote your product Now, there's no guarantee that every big blogger you approach in the way I talk about in this episode will promote your product, but if you do it the right way, you will increase your success significantly. 024 I Left my Job because of My blog | Blogging can result in so many different things for different people. For me, that means leaving my job and moving on to bigger and better things. In today's episode, I discuss the following: I answer a question left by Tai, from TravelToStLucia.com about what to do to protect your blog from content thieves. Don't you hate when you work very hard to produce awesome content, and then someone comes along and then steals that content? I do. It has happened to me many times, and it will probably continue to happen at an increasing pace. In this episode, I tell you how I deal with it, and how I believe YOU should deal with it. Then, I deal with one one of the biggest developments that has ever happened to me. As many of you know, I've been building my Interactive Biology Blog for a while now. Well, it has lead to me leaving my job. Why did I leave my job? You will have to listen to the episode to find out. All I'll say here is the following: My blog has opened up new doors for me Without my blog, these developments would not have happened I believe in the power of blogging more now than EVER If you aren't blogging, you should be getting on the bandwagon I'd really like to hear what you think about what you heard in this episode. 023 How to Use Facebook Effectively to Grow your Online Brand | Facebook is a major player online today. In the episode I mentioned that there are currently over 600 Million users on Facebook. That number is actually closer to 700 Million. This is where people today are spending most of their time online. Since that's the case, if you are into internet marketing, you want to use Facebook. In today's episode I give strategies for how to effectively use Facebook to Grow your online Brand. What's Going On Tumblr has more blogs than Wordpress.com - 20.8 Million vs 20.7 Million. Wordpress has been around for 8 years, and Tumblr has been around for only 4 years. This is a significant accomplishment for Tumblr, and my recommendation is to keep your eye on them. Read This Article for more info. Now, lets get into using Facebook Effectively. Here are some of the things I'm learning that I'd like to share with you. Don't use a regular Facebook account for your business. Use a Facebook Fanpage instead. It allows you to do much more to grow your brand. Do NOT use a Facebook group unless your main purpose is to share things within your team. Groups allow members of a group to connect with each other. Fan pages are for organizations, business, public figures, musicians to connect with fans. What's the difference between a facebook fan page and a group? Groups allow you to send Mass Messages, impose Membership restriction and do Inbox Messaging Pages have many of the features of regular accounts. When you post to your page, it shows up in your fans' news streams. You can use Facebook Apps, can track Engagement metrics, and can get vanity urls if you have more than 40 fans. How to get people to Like Your Page Give them a reason. Use the Fanpage Generator to generate a landing page that will make people want to click like. Add a Like box to your website. Use Facebook Ads (however, this costs money). Tips for how to encourage engagement on your Facebook Fanpage Fill in all of your info and have a good, relevant Fan Page Photo Post consistently. My recommendation is for you to post every single day Don't share a bunch of links. People come to Facebook to engage with people, not to be spammed with a bunch of links. If you share links, do so wisely. Interact with your fans. It's all about interaction. When you interact, people get to know you better and become more comfortable with your brand. Make posts that encourage your fans to interact. Posts that say things like "Click Like if . . ." "Fill in the blank . . ." I started using the above-mentioned tips, and it has increased my fan page engagement significantly. If you implement them, it should help you to encourage engagement, and grow your online brand using the social-networking beast - Facebook. Questions? Comments? 022 How to Avoid Online Business SCAMS! | A few weeks ago, I got a message on Skype from my cousin Andre, all the way in Paris. He found an opportunity to Make Money Online and wanted to get my perspective on the website he was getting ready to join. He knew that I was into Online Business, and even listens to this podcast. So, naturally, he wanted to know what I thought. Within 2 minutes, I was able to determine that it was a scam. Here's the problem. I know that these kinds of things happen every single day, and THOUSANDS of people get scammed by these sites. In this episode, I want to talk about ways to NOT get scammed online. If you follow these tips, you will reduce your chances of being scammed by almost 100%. Announcement Because of everything that's going on in my life (you will have to listen in to hear), my new goal for the podcast is to make 1 podcast weekly, to be available on Tuesdays. I will be sending out a message whenever a new one is posted, just to make sure you know exactly when it's ready (Just in case something crazy happens where I'm not able to post it on time) What's Going On In today's section of What's going on, I talk about the CNN article entitled "Twitter is the new Facebook". It's a compelling article that talks about some of the changes that are happening in the world of Social media. The main changes for twitter are: They are bringing Native photo and video sharing to their site starting on June 1. Apple has announced that iOS 5 (the new mobile platform) will include deep twitter integration. When you take those two factors into consideration, Twitter is going to be in a very good position. Ok, now lets get into the meat and bones of this episode. Here's an outline of what I cover . . . Tips to help you avoid getting scammed online Tip #1: Google is your friend. Do a google search with the name of the website/person followed by "review" or "scam". Tip #2: Chose a Good Mentor and Follow Success! Read their blog and follow their stories Get in a coaching program Tip #3: Only take recommendations from people you trust. Tip #4: Focus on 1 thing at a time. Don't move on until you have reached a level of comfortable success, or when you've reached a level that you feel satisfied That's pretty much it for today. If you have questions or comments, make sure to leave them below and/or call the hotline at (888) 835 - 2414. 021 SEO made Easy – How to Rank well in the Search Engines | In today's episode, I discuss a topic that has been overcomplicated, misconstrued, overhyped and a bunch of other long words. I talk about Search Engine Optimization. What's Going On In today's episode, I introduce a new section to my podcast called "What's going on", where I talk about something that is happening in today's world of online business, internet marketing and social media. The Original Problogger Darren Rowse got his Youtube Account Suspended Yesterday. However, it was restored after he wrote a quite comical letter to youtube and published it on his blog. David Jenyns also got his account suspended and wrote an open letter to youtube. In this episode, I give my opinion on these events. What is Search Engine Optimization According to Wikipedia, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. According to Leslie Samuel , SEO is helping your blog rank well in the Search Engines. Plain and Simple. The fact is this - Google has the ability to send you a ton of traffic, if you do you job well, and today. How Google decides which sites will rank well Two main components to an effective SEO Campaign On-site factors Off-site factors On-Site Factors Content is KING. You've heard me say it over and over. Google's main objective is to be catalogue relevant content, so that when someone does a search, the results are as close to what you're looking for as possible. The take home message is that you want to give Google as much information as possible. An important question to ask yourself is "What would my ideal visitor be looking for in order to get to the site The following factors come into play: Title of the page URL (permalinks) Content (Header tags, bold, etc) Keywords Alt Attribute of images If you are using video, include a transcript or descriptive show notes. Off-site Factors They've developed a complex algorithm that many so-called "SEO experts" have been trying to figure out. It's actually built on a very simple principle that I will call "The Sharing Principle". It goes like this: If you like something, you will want to share it with others. - Leslie Samuel How do people share things in this internet world? By linking. Whenever a website links to another website, it is basically saying that "I like this website, so I want to share it with the world". If many websites contains links to your website, and these websites are credible sources of information, google concludes that your website is share-worthy and gives your site a higher pagerank. In other words, your site will rank higher. Important aspects of Off-site Optimization Number of Backlinks The Quality of Backlinks (Pagerank) Anchor Text That's pretty much it. 016 Email Marketing, My Dreamline Issues and Dealing with Fears | In this episode, I cover the following . . . First, I thank all of you have left comments about the situation with my dad, and provide an update about his status. It looks like I might be heading to Columbia in a few days. If everything works out, I'll be spending about 2 weeks there. Then, I talk about the purpose of the hotline I set up (888-835-2414). When you call and leave a question, I answer it on the podcast, not via a personal call. It's the best way I know to contribute value to the most amount of people as possible. Tai called in a question about how to develop an effective email marketing campaign. Here are the tips I gave: Focus on providing value Focus on building a relationship with your subscribers Ask yourself what your audience wants to know, and share that info with them In terms of how often to email your subscribers, try something and test the response. See what works for you and then go with that. Then I talk about the struggles I'm having constructing my dreamline as a part of the Mastermind Group. Lastly I answer the questions at the end of Chapter 2 of the 4 Hour Workweek. Here are the questions and my answers: What's the worse that can happen if I were to follow my dream (in my case, building a massive online business)? My online business can fail I can loose my job and not have any money My wife and I can have a child and not have enough money to support that child Not have enough money to pay the bills What steps could you take to repair the damage or get things back on the upswing, even if temporarily? Find a new job as a teacher. Go back to school and get a degree Find odd jobs Do some consulting work What are the more positive possibilities that can happen? My business explodes Making much more Passive income Freedom to travel and see the world Have enough money to help people Change the world If I was fired today, what would I do to get things under financial control? Not as much of a problem for me today I could probably make more money if I weren't working Live off my online income However, I love teaching, and I believe that God has me where I am for a specific purpose. Would have to cut back on expenses like wireless internet, iPhone with maximum plan, consolidate my websites, get on shared hosting Stop traveling as much, until things picked up. What am I putting off out of fear? Nothing really. I'm no longer afraid because I see the possibilities that are out there and I'm gaining the knowledge to do something about it. My goal is not to quit my job right now. I don't have a problem with jobs. I have a problem with depending solely on that. What is it costing me to postpone action? 013 No More Freebie Guy, Mailing lists, Bounce Rate and Defining your Purpose/Goals | In today's episode, I cover the following... Can you believe it? After today, there's no more "Freebie Guy". Yep, as you can see I've changed my website domain from TheFreebieGuy.net to www.LearningWithLeslie.com - Permanently. Why? The "Freebie Guy" is no longer relevant to my goals. All these names (and URLs) can confuse people I want you to know me, just as I am! Then I answer 2 Questions: Andre calls in to ask what incentives I recommend giving to get people to join your mailing list. My recommendations were Free eBooks, Reports, Videos, Webinars, or any other niche specific item that delivers value to your target audience. Tai calls in to ask what bounce rate was and what levels of bounce rate you should expect to see. I explain that Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visitors. It gives you an idea of how "sticky" your website is, and I also give some examples from my websites. John calls in to voice his enthusiasm for the Learning With Leslie Mastermind and I also read a comment left by Tai on the same subject. Then I talk about the first section of the 4 Hour Work Week, which is what we are reading for the Mastermind Group. For the first week, the goal is to get up to chapter 2. 011 Social Media, my 4 Hour Work Week Journey, Cliff Ravenscraft Interview | Of all the episodes I've done so far, this is (in my opinion), THE most exciting. This is one of those that you don't want to miss. Here are the things that are covered: I answer Tai's questions about Social Media, how to get traffic using Social Media and what hashtags are. I invite you to join me on a 4 hour workweek Journey. It's an exciting concept. I'm looking for people to join my "4-hour workweek club", where we read the book - The Four Hour Workweek. I hadn't realized this when I recorded the episode, but there's a new expanded edition of the book with a bunch more resources. I just ordered it myself and it's the one that I recommend for you to get because it comes with a bunch of new resources and templates. The idea is simple: First, let me know that you are committing to joining me on this journey by leaving a comment and/or calling the hotline and saying "I'm In". The number is (888) 835 - 2414. Lastly, I go into part one of an interview with Cliff Ravenscraft, A.K.A. the Podcast Answer Man from www.podcastanswerman.com. This is probably the most exciting interview so far and you will notice Cliff's passion for his topic. You will also hear about his experience and learn about why podcasting is such an exciting thing to do. Whether you want to podcast or not, you WANT to listen to this one. Here are some of the main tips Cliff says can help you to have a successful podcast: The first thing you NEED to do when starting a podcast (or really any other business) is ask yourself the following question - What is my purpose? When selecting a topic, BE SPECIFIC! Do what you are passionate about, not just what will make you money! Resources Mentioned in the Interview Seth Godin's book Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us Podcast Answer Man There's A LOT more coming in part 2 of this interview, which will go live on Thursday. 010 How to Crush it in a Thank You Economy | You'll probably notice right from the start of this episode that I'm more excited in this episode than in ANY of the previous ones. Why? Because of an exciting announcement (at least it was exciting to me) and I get to talk about a topic that I'm very passionate about. Here are the Announcements: Learning with Leslie is now in the iTunes Podcast directory. I was a little concerned after reading around online about how long it would take. I submitted it on Sunday and it is there today (Wednesday). 3 days isn't that bad. So go ahead an Subscribe in iTunes, leave a review and rate the podcast. That will help others learn about it. You can easily access the page by going to LeslieOnItunes.com, and then viewing it in iTunes to leave a review. Every episode I've recorded so far has been downloaded by hundreds of people from 53 different countries, even though it wasn't submitted to the directory, which is pretty exciting. Then, I answer two questions that were left by John from AskJohnEnglish.com. His questions were: How should he go about outsourcing the development of a Wordpress theme for his site? How can I legally post videos of my classes on my Biology Website? Then I get into the meat of the episode, where I talk about Social Media by dealing with the concepts written about in Gary Vaynerchuk's 2 books: Crush it and The Thank You Economy. With Google making Algorithm changes every so often that can impact your online business significantly (positive or negative), it's important to build a business that will last regardless of what they decide to do. To summarize what I deal with hear are the main Points I deal with which I draw from the two books: Crush it In this book, Gary tells his story and talks in detail about how he grew Wine Library TV into a MASSIVE online presence in the Wine Community. I talk about creating a brand and growing your online business Put great content out there and then go into the internet trenches. I talk about how to provide Value and build a business that will last It’s never a bad time to start a business unless you’re starting a mediocre business. - Gary Vaynerchuk The Thank You Economy If you want to build a business in today's "Thank You Economy", you have to CARE about your customers (or website visitors) and employees. Build a strong sense of community around your brand Allow that community to help shape your business (but not control it) Use Social media to spread your message and grow your business Those are the bullet points, but in the podcast, I go through the "how to's". Check it out, and let me know what you think. 007 Paying guests, Podcasting on a Budget and Driving Traffic with Youtube | In this episode of Learning With Leslie, I cover the following Topics . . . I'm In Florida, and I share a little about how much fun I'm having. Went to Busch Gardens yesterday, went on an "African Safari", and going to Discovery Cove tomorrow to swim with Dolphins. It has always been a dream of mine to swim with Dolphins and I finally get to do it. Here's a quick video of my African Safari Adventures. Should you Pay Webinar Guests Ryan from RyansTopShelf.com calls in to ask a question about whether it is common courtesy to pay someone if you feature them in a webinar or a product you make, in exchange for them agreeing to be on your show. I respond by talking about the different ways you can offer value to your guests, including (but not limited to) promoting their products, having a joint venture arrangement and providing them with free content in the form of articles or videos. The take home message is - Offer them value in exchange for the value they are providing for you. Podcasting on A Budget Chris Deals calls in to ask a question about how to podcast on a budget. He listened to a past episode where I showed my brand new Podcasting Studio and recommended for me to talk about how someone can get started if they can't afford to start on such a grand scale. In response to his question, I first talk about why I love Podcasting and why I think it's a good way to expand your business. These were the reasons I gave: It Allows you to strengthen your relationship with your subscribers People can take it with them on the go. They can also listen to it while doing something else. I talk about why I decided to get such an elaborate setup. The main reason is that it allows me to deliver a high quality podcast VERY quickly. To answer his question specifically, I make the following recommendations for the beginner Podcaster: Recommendation #1 - Use a USB headset. Here are two great examples of all-in-one solutions: Example #1: The Plantronics Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset Price: $29.99 If you are a podcaster on the go, here's a great portable Solution: Example 2: Plantronics DSP400 Foldable Media Headset $41.55 Recommendation 2: For those that want to go with a slightly more elaborate setup, I would recommend a USB microphone (with a separate headset). The one I've used for over a year now is called the Rode Podcaster. It's great Mic that delivers a pretty good quality. However, the price point is $229. Rode Podcaster Recommended Software: Audacity (Free - for PC or Mac) Garageband (Mac only) Using Youtube to Drive Traffic I then get into the main content for this episode, where I share how I've been using Youtube to drive traffic to my Biology Website. I've been able to grow the traffic from 2,672 Unique Visitors in December to 7,507 in the last 30 Days. Here are the things I've been doing that I share in the episode: What I Recommend: Post videos regularly with high quality content (3 - 5 times per week) Link back to my website on Every Video Respond to every comment/question Thank Everyone who subscribes to the channel and tell them about your website Make sure to have a way for them to opt in to my list You can check out my Biology Youtube Channel to see how I implement those things. Through the Podcast that I’m going to be doing, the interviews that I’m going to be doing with experts in different fields, I’m going to be learning a lot. What I’m learning is what I’m going to be sharing with you. You’re right here learning along with me, and I’m excited about that. So, Monique, you’ve won the prize. You can go ahead and send me an email with your PayPal email address and I will send that $50 grand prize over to you. Thank you for your submission. Thank you everyone that participated by submitting your name. I really do appreciate it and I love to see the interactivity! I love it when people leave comments and even calling to the hotline and leave comments and suggestions. Now, the topic for today is a follow up from the last topic that I spoke about and I was talking about giving away free information and how that can help you grow your business. What I want to talk about specifically today is how to create a free product that will make you money. I know that might sound a little bit like an oxymoron but, it is a system that works and it is something that I highly recommend. That is what I’m going to talk about. I’m going to break it down in a number of different categories and hopefully, you can get a lot of value from the content today. I’d love to hear what you have to say about it. You can let me know what you have to say by leaving a comment below or calling the hotline at ---. I’d love to hear your comments. So, go ahead, leave a comment or call in. I’ll be excited to deal with your question either by responding to you in the comments or by even making a Podcast to deal with your specific question or comment. So, the first question I want to answer is the following, “Why should I create a free product?” And that’s a great question to start with because it’s something that you really need to understand if you are going to go this route of creating a free product. The first reason, I would say, is because it gives you credibility. There’s something about having a product that when someone se | 2/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

001 Brand New Podcast | Yep, you saw correctly. I'm starting a brand new podcast and I'm super excited about the content. You're gonna love it. Go ahead and listen to the first episode and then suggest a name for the podcast below and/or by calling the hotline at (888) 835 - 2414. That's all for now. Leslie - The Freebie Guy Transcript of Today's Episode [spoiler] Hey, this is Leslie, TheFreebieGuy from TheFreebieGuy.net, and I’m so excited to welcome you to my brand-new podcast. It’s so brand-new that I don’t even have a name for it as yet. But I’m going to tell you a little bit about that in a little while. First, let me tell you what this podcast is going to be about. I’m going to be using this podcast to share my experiences with you, share some of the things I’ve been doing, some of the things I’ve learned, and in a way for you to learn some of the things that I’m doing and you can take action on the tips and tricks and strategies and so on that I’m going to be sharing with you on this podcast. At the beginning of the year, I made up a post letting you know I would be posting to my blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the idea was for me to post text entry. But now I’m going to be doing something a little different, because I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts and audio books recently, and wow, have those things really enriched my life. I mean, I’ve learned so much over the last few weeks. And it’s really cool because you can take it with you, you can listen to it at any time. If you’re driving in the car, you can pop it in the CD player or you can put it in your iPhone, iPod, or any kind of MP3 device, and you can learn the content on the go, which is extremely valuable. You can play it over and over. I wanted to do something like this to help you guys in your journey to online success. Now, I mentioned before that the podcast is so brand-spanking-new that it doesn’t even have a name. This is where I want your help. This podcast is going to be about internet marketing, online business, doing stuff to grow your business, and just sharing tips and tricks and strategies. I’m going to be interviewing some people that are doing what you would like to be doing, what I would like to be doing, even, and sharing those things with you. And I need a name that kind of summarizes all of these concepts. I want it to be short and catchy. So I want you guys to help me with that, and there are 3 ways you can help me with it: You can leave a comment on the blog and give me your suggestion. Just shoot out some ideas. I want to hear these ideas because this podcast is for you guys. You can call me on the brand-new hotline, and the number is 888 835 2414. Haha! Don’t you just love that? I just brought my wife into the recording studio and she put that together for me and I’m so happy about that. It sounds nice. Anyhow, so you can call that number and leave a message letting me know what you suggest for the name for this podcast. This is the best of both options. You can go to the blog, leave a comment, and you can call the hotline! The number’s really easy to remember, it’s 888 835 2414. So if you’re driving along in your car, you’re just listening to this on your iPhone or your MP3 player, just pick up your phone, give me a call and leave me a message. I’ll be happy to check out the suggestions you guys have. For today’s episode, since this is the first one of this brand-new series, I want to talk about something that I really hold dear to me. And what I’m going to do to start it off is I’m going to read an e-mail that I received a few days ago from an internet marketing website. I’m pretty sure you guys have received many e-mails, because I get them all the time, but this is what the e-mail says: “How would you like to turn $1 into $20,000 in the next 30 days doing practically nothing? This guy did, and he’s willing to show you exactly how with a free video tutorial. Check it out” and | 1/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
