What’s 9 inches long, black, and frightens British men? | Welcome to the 25th episode of the Idle Banter podcast. This week Zoe is still on hiatus, which left Matt and me to our own devices. This as you know, is probably not the best of ideas because then we start talking about headlines such as “What’s 9 inches long, black, and frightens British men?” It is squirrels of course, what exactly were you thinking? In other news this week, we talk about the passing of Whitney Houston, discuss the Super Bowl half time show, and talk about politics. Matt this week, in a surprising turn of events, talks about the movie Hall Pass, well at least 75% of the movie. I go on to talk about the movie It’s Kind of a Funny Story and a new show I started watching called Supernatural. (Ok yes I know it is in like its sixth season, but it is new to me… so live with it.) This coming Sunday won't come with a live recording, stupid work is getting in Matt's way. But Zoe is planning on returning this coming week, which hopefully means that Matt and I stay out of trouble. Then again where is the fun in that? Anyway, stay tuned for a blog post from Justin in place of a live recording, if he ever figures out how to work this thing. See you all next week! Remember That Time When Apple was Pregnant? | Okay, so it didn't REALLY happen. Although, that would have been quite amusing. We did, however, talk about both of those topics (Apple and pregnancy) in this week's podcast. Apple reported that their 2012 Q1 was record breaking, yet again, in terms of revenue and profit. In fact, their past quarter was the 2nd best quarter of all times, for any company. They just have to beat Exxon to become #1. WTF?! Can Apple do any wrong? (Don't answer that, I'm sure they can). In related news, another one of the articles that we talked about dealt with those consumers who boycott Apple because of the working conditions of their facilities in other countries. Justin boycotts Walmart, and I can't remember what Zoe boycotts, but I don't boycott anything if the price is right. ;-) That's right everyone, I'm a retail w***e. The article also mentions other companies that should be boycotted if that's your "thing." The only one that stood out to me was Char-Broil. Moving right along, the next big thing was the Pregnancy Project - a project done by a 14 year old girl where she fakes a pregnancy during the school year to study reactions and stereotypes of pregnant girls in Middle School. The only individuals who knew that the pregnancy was fake were her mother, boyfriend, and school principal—Everyone else was out of the loop. She then wrote a book from the notes she took and of course, sold her soul to Lifetime. The movie's premiere aired on January 28. Justin's task for this week is to watch it and report back... Maybe. Did you listen to our podcast last week when Zoe talked about President Obama covering Al Green? If not, you totally should. On January 29, USA Today reported that in the week following Obama's American Idol audition, sales of Al Green's record, Let's Stay Together, spiked 490%. Man, Obama should cover Idle Banter & Escapades—Maybe the number of listeners would increase that much! Here's the YouTube video if you haven't seen it yet... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6uHR90Sq6k The last 2 things we talked about were the Oscar nominations. The award show is on February 26, but I'm sure we'll talk about it before then! Also, Ian Abercrombie, notably known for his role as Mr. Pitt on Seinfeld, has passed away at the age of 77. Stay tuned to our episode next week and check us out on iTunes! *Thumbnail and embedded image from the Lifetime Network. | 1/31/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Epidode 23 – What If Everyone We Mocked Retired? | Happy Friday, everyone, I would've posted this earlier, but the Internet apparently confuses both me and my overly-helpful computer / web browser. Episode 22 – This title has been removed in violation of SOPA | If you aren’t sure about the title of Today’s Podcast, you should read about it HERE. If this bill were to pass congress, sites like ours would most likely be shut down. We would prefer that didn’t happen since we just got started, anyway, on to happier news. On Sunday, the Golden Globes took place. In fact they happened just shortly after we recorded this podcast, so we apologize for any wrong information. (Although we are rarely wrong. We are also very modest.) Also, during this podcast we discuss the rereleasing of movies in 3D such as Beauty and The Beast and Titanic. Oprah is celebrating this week about the first graduation class from her South African School. Finally, speaking of schools, we end by talking about two idiot middle-school students who thought it would be fun to mess around with their schools computer systems. Thank you for joining us here at Idle Banter & Escapades as we get situated into our new site. Comments about the show and the site are always welcome. Also, remember you can always listen to our show live on Sunday nights at 7pm EST. Have a great week and we hope to see you again next time. Episode 21 – We are live! | With a new year comes great responsibility. Wait... scratch that - wrong setting. Our goal for this year was to make the Idle Banter & Escapades podcast into something more regular for more people to enjoy, so we decided to revamp the website and start recording live! If you used to find us at justinandzoe.wordpress.com, then welcome. If you're new to the podcast, then likewise. We welcome you to listen to us record live on Sundays at 7pm Eastern.Between the 3 of us, there is a lot of... comedy (?) involved as we review movies, celebrity gossip, and some news. The theme this week ended up being cheating, although it was not a planned theme. We discuss adultery, cheating students, and cheating in politics. Zoe also emphasizes her fascination of foreign films. Enjoy the episode! Movies we mentioned: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil Certified Copy Love Crime Bigfoot (movie on The History Channel) The Call of Cthulhu Articles we bantered about: Kiefer Sutherland confirms "24" movie start date Beyonce and Jay Z welcome a baby girl President Barack Obama visits Shaker Heights Casey Anthony "video diary" on YouTube Kyle Richards thinks cheating once is a "free pass" 200 students caught cheating on 1 test Actress sues IMDB for revealing real age Teacher fakes child death for extra vacation time | 1/9/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 20 – End of the Year! | Well, it is now 2012, but we recorded our latest podcast last year, when we were all relaxed and unwound after the holidays and some time off (for those of us working...). Maybe it was just me, but I could pretty much only find stories that were basically lists, so this episode is relatively laid back and free from any real heated debate. In fact, one might say that we... bantered. Ha, ha. Don't worry, that bit of lame humor is 2011 leftovers. This year, the three of us are going to up our game, move to our own site, get some cooler theme music, get back to blogging as well as podcasting, and change some other stuff that our team isn't ready to unveil yet. So. Here is what we talk about in Episode 20 - End of the Year! 20 Top Grossing Movies of 2011 15 Biggest Flops Inappropriate Latin Fox News Poll CNN's Leading the Witness Poll (Not Its Real Name) Justin Beiber Singing Toothbrushes Groupon - For Real Also, I gave reviews of: The Descendants Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol Justin mentioned a book he's reading, Doctor Who and Philosophy: Bigger on the Inside. Episode 19 – A Late Holiday Podcast | Happy late holidays everyone! Although I guess New Years is right around the corner. We here at Idle Banter had a wonderful holiday this past week. I was so great, that we forgot to put up the Podcast we recorded before the holiday. Eh, it happens. In this podcast we discuss the nominations for the Golden Globes, discuss a new type of religion and talk about the stupidity of some people. As the New Year approaches look for new changes coming to Idle Banter. Starting Sunday January 8, 2012 you can start listening to us live as we record our podcast. This can be done HERE. We will also be taking questions during the podcast in the chat room provided on the page. So listen and join in the discussion. Episode 18 – What Not To Do As A Parent | There are new and exciting things going on here at Idle Banter and Escapades. First off, starting in the new year we will be moving to our new site courtesy of our tech guru Matt. With the new site we hope to start out individual blog posts again as well as be able to quickly get you the latest podcast episode. The second thing that will start taking place is we will be streaming our recording sessions live for any of those interested in listening. We will also have a chat room up at the time to get live questions and feedback from those listening. Stay tuned for more information on that. On this week’s episode we discuss and article on a year in review of “bad parenting.” To go along with bad parenting, we also discuss the leaked pictures of Lindsay Lohan’s playboy shoot. We also talk about Apple (imagine that, since Matt was hosting this time), Alec Baldwin refusing to stop playing “Word with Friends,” and who are the least trusted people in the US. Finally, we discuss a proposal to make Chicago a state. Due to a mix up in email, I only have a few of this week’s articles, but if you are interested in any of them please let us know and we will try to track them down for you. This week Matt actually watches a movie, we talk about the ethical side of Photoshop and an early review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo makes Sony upset. We also get into an article about popular music that just made most of us want to cry. Finally, we talk about India trying to control the internet and “Big Brother” watching you. Episode 16 – Of Muppets and Men | Welcome back to the Idle Banter Podcast. The gang and I are happy to be back after our two week hiatus. With so much going on in the world over the last couple week we thought it was important to cover some of the more important issues, such as one man’s quest to sue the Playboy mansion for discrimination against men. We know we couldn’t believe it either… In other news, the gang discussed the ethical question of genetically engineering your baby and the banning of an advertisement in Great Britain. We also discuss the rights of someone posting on twitter and the stupidity of some political staffers. Finally, during the break Zoe was fortunate enough to get to see the new Muppet movie, while I was stuck at home watching the awkward movie “The Best and the Brightest” on Netflix instant. Then again we both fared better than Matt who was stuck on a bus for 14 hours and got to watch “Miracle.” He can’t complain though, he got to go New York for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Join us next week, when I am sure we will take on even more complicated issues. Although I am not sure you can beat “suing playboy for discrimination against males,” just not sure it is possible. We shall see. Have a great weekend and we will see you next week. Episode 15 – From Red State, To Penn State | Sorry about the late post folks. We were having problems linking to the podcast as well as all of us being busy in one form or another. However, now that the link is fixed we can post away. This week we talk about Kevin Smith’s “horror” genre debut, Red State. We also talk about the situation with Penn State, the conviction of Michael Jackson’s Doctor and Google TV. As previously mentioned, we have all been a bit busy this past week and with the holiday coming up it is just going to get worse. Matt is running a conference up at Miami and I, being the good unemployed friend that I am, will be going up to work a few shifts to help him out. Then next week Matt is off to New York with the Miami University Marching Band as they get ready to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. So tune in to Macy’s that day to see the MUMB do their stuff. So, with the all the conflicts and the loss of or Tech guy for a few weeks, all of us have decided it would be a good time to take a short break. We will be off the next couple of weeks, but will be back at the beginning of December. In the mean time Zoe and I will be catching up on movies to talk about as well as finding some nice articles to debate. Thank you for sticking around with us as we find our feet hear at Idle Banter & Escapades. We have great things planned for the future and look forward to keep moving on. Episode 14 – In Which Zoe Disgracefully Brings Up a Reality Star | Hullo, Daylight Savers! Last week I posted and it was Halloween(ish), now it's Daylight Savings... From now on, I'm only posting on holidays / special occasions with proper nouns. Monday, we recorded Episode 14 and I lead the discussion. In retrospect I feel like my topics were weak compared with Matt's and other random news articles we've bickered about, but I won't know unless someone points it out. Check it out and prove me right or wrong. Justin scoffed at Paranormal Activity and I was let down by In Time. Then I brought up Kim Kardashian's divorce and how it's being used for a good cause by pro gay marriage / GLBTQ organizations / George Takei based on an article at The Wrap. Matt brought up some pretty sleazy statistics on the short-lived marriage. We tried to ruminate on an article about Gen Xers not being slackers, but it turns out, we're not sure what defines generations... And I found an article where really smart scientists put their formidable minds to improving boarding times... Tomorrow, we record a new podcast! As ever, let us know how we're doing. Or send us a crazy news article, a funny video, some movie/show we "must see" or whatever. Feedback is good, unless it's coming from microphones. P.S. Why do these links always turn up in stupid colors? | 11/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 13 – Attempting Banter: Reprise | Happy Sunday and Happy Halloween / Dia de los Muertos / All Hallow's! Even though we recorded this newest podcast on Monday and Matt promptly sent us the link, someone (Justin! Not me!) slacked and forgot to put it up. So, I am sailing in to save the day and steal all of the credit. Never mind that Justin texted me at 9:30 this morning my time to ask me to do it... No, no, it's not like normal people sleep in on Sunday mornings or anything... Anyway, this week we tried again the new format introduced by Matt, in which we actually BANTER. Or... try to. We tried our best to be quicker overall, but you'll have to give Justin and me time to learn to be concise. Or at least conscious of the passage of time. Maybe we really do need Matt to get a buzzer noise? The things we bantered about: Animal shootings in Ohio --> Leonardo DiCaprio's response to animal shootings in Ohio Related: PETA reaction to movie We Bought a Zoo Scientology vs. South Park Zooey Deschanel sings the National Anthem Australian man moons the Queen of England The things we just talked about: Zoe saw The Help in the theatre Zoe saw The Trip on Netflix The crazy Apple program Siri that talks back website Queen Elizabeth II of England: Wikipedia fact-finding mission related to the mooning Have Justin, Matt and I succeeded in idly bantering? Has our length of podcast vs excitement of podcast ratio improved since Matt piloted the new format? Did I forget to mention something? Did you want to mention something? Episode 12 – Trying Something New | As you can see this weeks episode is coming out very late. This is largely due to Matt and I not getting our stuff together this week. We record these Monday night and then try to get them up in the next couple of days. Matt was a bit late getting the finished podcast to me and as you can see I am just as late posting it. Oops.. Anyway, the gang tried something new this week and broke away from our original format. We are trying to bring a little more banter into "Idle Banter" and this new format might just work. The new format is also supposed to help cut down on the length of the podcast because we know they can get a little long. Not sure this week was any different, Zoe and I just need to learn to talk less... HA like that will happen. Matt keeps threatening to buzz us out if we are going too long. I say let him try. Enjoy this week's show. Zoe and I talk about the movie "The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo" that was released in 2009. I also believe the Pope being a Nazi gets mentioned as well. As always comments are welcome and if you have questions you would like us to discuss or answer feel free to leave us a message. We look forward to hearing from you. | 10/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 1 – A Work In Progress | Week two of the podcast! It is amazing how much easier it is to post these on time than what Zoe and I use to do. How wonderful the magic of technology is. This week’s podcast talks about the tragedy in Norway, The death of a London singer, another game about the zombie apocalypse and, as always, movies. Also we try to avoid Godwin’s Law and fail miserably. Apparently there is some truth in that. Also this week, we have INTRO MUSIC!!! Sure it sounds like it is from the 80s because it is from the 80s. The music was given to us by our friend Steve Milloy, a wonderful composer. It was something that he had lying around on a cassette tape. For all you younger folk, that is what came out before CDs and MP3s. OOOooooOOOO the mysteries of early technology. We got a whole bunch of sound bytes from him so over the next couple of episodes we will be possibly playing around with it all. Episode 0 – A Pilot | Hello fellow wanderers in this adventure we call life! Too much? Way to over the top? Yeah probably, but thought I should start out on a high note since it has been awhile since Zoe and I have posted anything. Once again we blame this on life and all the little distractions that come up, like my vacation to New York (which was great by the way) or Zoe’s week from hell dealing with a conference. With that said, things have settled down and we are both hoping to start updating on time again (whatever that means for us since we’ve never really updated on time). However, some good news comes from this break in the action. Over the weekend Zoe, myself and our friend Matt recorded a test episode of the rumored podcast. And because we are such wonderful people here at Idle Banter we are going to let you listen to it with a bit of a warning. First off, this was kind of a test episode to see how we could flow stuff together and basically see how best to make fun of me. Second, my microphone was apparently not up to par so I sound a bit metallic. I am working on that problem for the next podcast. Finally, because this was somewhat of a test there is no intro music or sound effects or really anything except the 3 of us talking. Some of that will hopefully change with the next episode. Finally, because of the limits of a free Wordpress site, we are taking Idle Banter to the next step. Our friend Matt has been gracious enough to agree to help us start our own site. Zoe and I want to do the redesign correctly so it is going to take a bit before everything is in place. However we are all excited and think this is the right move. Hopefully we can just remember to update it. We will let you know when the switch happens so you can all update your bookmarks. Because we know that you have us bookmarked. Right? Right? Thought so. Anyway, enough of me typing away and let’s get to the podcast. You can listen to it by clicking on the link below or by right clicking on it and saving it as an MP3. We would appreciate feedback and any comments you may have. As I’ve said this was our first attempt and we will get better. Enjoy Links from the podcast.
