Invaluable

I have only listened to 3 of the Podcasts, but I'm hungry for more! Podcast #11 with Frazier Quelch is going to change how I teach my classes, and I can't wait to try it. Most impactful for me is the concept of engaging the class with each other, in cooperative and competitive riding. I'm already implementing the Ten Steps to build class size from Podcast #5. Sometimes we think "If I build it (a great class), they will come." But, first they have to know it's there! Active marketing both for my own classes and for the gym makes sense! When I had my meeting with the Group Fitness Instructor at my gym regarding my plans for marketing my classes, I gave her a link to your site and suggested she pass the info on to our other Spin instructorss. I also appreciate your recommendation of Jennifer Sage's e-book, Keep it Real. I'm not a cyclist, but I want to present a class that provides a cycling experience as well as simply a good workout. I had the honor of attending Jennifer's "The Secret" ride at WSSC '08. I hope that someday I'll have the skills to present a ride that inspires the kind of feeling in others that Jennifer did in me. Listening to your Podcasts is going to take me many steps in the right direction. Thanks John. Thanks, Jennifer! "Find peace through effort, find serenity in exertion and you'll find the free spirit within." -- Author unknown. (From Podcast #11 with Frazier Quelch)

Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast review

The number one podcast to follow for all new and experienced indoor cycling instructors. If you need to know the latest technology available, and learn the most effective ways to motivate, inspire and encourage your class to get the most out of spinning and reach their fitness goals, John has has put in the time and effort to bring all that info to you in the convenience of his podcast. He is able to interview experienced instructors all over the world and provide insight on their techniques and what has made them successful. He is able to show how outdoor riding relates to indoor cycling and what is and isn't safe to do on a spin bike. John's podcasts are a must listen to if you want to reach your full potential as an instructor.

Made me a better instructor!

I have now listened to all episodes over about a four month period and have thoroughly enjoyed all (maybe not the one from Jamaca so much; too short). I think John picks good, varied topics, draws out helpful info from each guest, and shares just enough of his own experience. Some of the material is a quasi-ad for products and services directed at IDC instructors but that's OK, I need some of these things. I epecially enjoy the topics that focus on teaching technique, such as visualization, motivational language, how to keep myself motivated and ideas for dealing with different situations that arise with students or management. I download, then listen during my commute so this is a great time saver.
