ExplicitEpisode 2.9: Super Show 2010 and other Musings | The reports of the demise of the Drawerbox have been greatly exaggerated… even in this episode! Don’t fret about my rambling on about podfading because the Drawerbox isn’t going anywhere! This episode is Frankenstein’s Monster in that it has been assembled from parts recorded at different times over the last month. I try making up for this monstrosity by including some fun musical interludes including samples of Paolo Nutini’s newest CD that I’m digging on quite a bit lately. The main thrust of this episode is my adventures at the CGS Super Show, followed up by the usual Recent Reads Rambling that you’ve come to expect, including too many books to even list! Be sure to weigh in on my rant on MIGHTY AVENGERS though! I want to know what people think on how that series is wrapping up! | 4/29/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Episode 100 Special | It has become customary to celebrate “milestones” in both comics and in comics podcasting, so in this episode we try to mix things up and celebrate Episode 100 by inviting a co-host on for the show. Due to technical difficulties and personality issues regarding semantics we have some mixed results in that regard but hopefully it will still lead to some pleasant listening! And never fear – ENTER THE DRAWERBOX returns with a look at Acclaim Comics’ reboot of the Solar character. And lots of books are talked about in RECENT READS & RANDOM THOUGHTS but I lost my notes and forgot what they were. So it’s a surprise! Thanks to John Mayo and comicbookpage.com as always for hosting the podcast. Also special thanks to Alexander B. Episode 76: Diary of a Madman | A mid-week surprise for you as I unleash Episode 76 upon an unsuspecting world on a Wednesday! Episode 74: Comics OCD and What Comics Are Worth | I’m back in the saddle again after a lengthy hiatus from podcasting. Tune in for a lot of rambling as to why, but also some talk about the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon, the Justice League New Frontier DVD, the Incredible Hulk Movie, and a lot of other random stuff. Somewhere in all of that I talk about some of the symptoms of my Comics OCD habits and how I’m trying to break them, and then mull over who decides why back issues cost what they do. And in a segment now deemed “Not So Recent Reads” recorded about a month ago, I chime in on the following comics: Daredevil: Blood of the Tarantula Detective Comics #843 You’ve Got To Have a Gimmick Today DMZ Vol. 4: Friendly Fire Final Crisis #1 Ms. Marvel #27 Secret Invasion #2 Captain Britain and MI13 #1 Incredible Hercules #117 Mighty Avengers #13 New Avengers #41 Secret Invasion Fantastic Four #1 Might Avengers #14 Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men #1 Avengers/Invaders #1 Thor #9 | 7/4/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 69a: Critiquing Comics without Critical Thinking | I’m still recovering from having ten six year old girls in my house for a sleep-over with my daughter last night, so this is a quick sort of preamble to what I hope the rest of the episode will be about – but your feedback will be greatly influential in the direction the 69b episode will take. Listen to this and then give me your opinion on how best to address the following: Rudeness versus Civility on Message Boards Brutal Honesty or tempered opinions when you know a creator will see your review Do you judge indy comics on a different scale than Marvel/DC I come to some conclusions on these topics in this episode, but I look forward to your feedback… it may help me formulate how best to approach some things in upcoming episodes. | 4/27/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

This episode should probably be called Torchwood Supplemental though, because I spend more time on that show than Doctor Who… but the main topic of the show is a “virtual conversation” with Bruce Rosenberger of Komicskast about Doctor Who and podcasting in general. Bruce has some insightful commentary on podcasting and also shares his experiences with Doctor Who. Check it out. Episode 52: Daredevil Born Again | A look back at one of the most highly renowned stories from Daredevil, Volume 1. A lot of great things hit the market in 1986, like Watchmen or Frank Miller’s most celebrated work, Dark Knight Returns. But 1986 also saw Frank Miller return to the character that really started his turn from comic book artist into legend. Join me in this look back at one of the highlights in Daredevil’s publishing history. A note about this episode: First, as always… there are spoilers galore as I go into practically a page by page synopsis of the series. Second, this episode has not been edited and is very, very raw. Normally I try to edit out bursts of silence and/or stammering, and in this case I simply have not had the time… so the choice was to get the episode out as is, or delay it for a few days. I opted to get it out, and may edit and change the file in a couple of days. So, please forgive the annoying silences and such… also, I seem to be having issues with my laptop or audacity, as there are a lot of pops and drops in this episode as well. Apologies in advance, and I hope you still enjoy the episode anyway. | 12/15/07 | Free | View In iTunes |

Love the Drawerbox!
When you listen to Bill, you can just imagine him in the basement with his comic collection, sorting through them and looking at old favourites (in fact, you just know it, because you can hear him open the tape on the polybags!) Whether it's recounting the stories of Miller-era Daredevil, or his travels on Black Friday, you feel like you're sitting there with him.
The Show Provides Insight!
Bill forces the everyday comic book fans' brain to expand with the knowledge he shares, and makes everyone a better reader in the end!
One Great Show
This is a wonderful show about a guy who likes talking about comics while being smack in the middle of the difficult task of sorting his comics. Bill does a great job of keeping my interest, which is not an easy task for a single host podcast. Kudos to Bill.
