Clean01.26.2012: Tokyo SOS Daikaiju Discussion | Heather, Justin, Cindy, T'Igor and I delve into the 2003 kaiju extravaganza, Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS in this Daikaiju Discussion episode of the Kaijucast! Someone ring some kind of bell or something, people; we’ve hit episode FIFTY! I think this is only the 2nd time we’ve received so many submissions for our Daikaiju Discussions. The last one was for a long-time fan favorite, Godzilla vs. Megalon, so I was pretty surprised that this mouthful of a movie title was so well received by the listeners. Well done, class…well done. Unfortunately that means that we had to do a lot more creative trimming in order to fit everyone’s thoughts into the episode. I don’t like having to cut anything out, but I think we got most of the highlights from everyone’s homework included. Apologies in advance if I missed something? I kind of let the deadline for January’s slide a little bit, but I won’t be able to do that for next month. Hopefully a lot of you have the Media Blasters BluRay or DVD that came out last year. Since it’s included, we’ll probably watch the AIP dub, since that’s the version I like the best. Not that this whole podcast thing is all about me! Clean01.16.2012: “Live” from the Monster Garage..err… ROOM! | Kevin DeAntonio, Bob Johnson, Barrie Evans & Loren "Butch" Portillo join us this episode giving today's fans a glimpse into the past. Hey Kaijucast listeners! Welcome to episode #49 of the Kaijucast. Bad news, I’m getting over a killer head cold, so I was very happy to almost turn over the reins to some friends of mine. Ok, that’s not really what I did. But thanks to Skype and Bob Johnson setting up a cool recording space in his “Monster Room”, we were able to connect with this small group of fans “down south”. Heather and I are joined by Bob Johnson, Kevin DeAntonio, Butch Portillo and Barrie Evans as these fellow kaiju enthusiasts share what it was like to be a young Godzilla fan around San Francisco in the 1970s. I’m still really amazed at what was happening in that area of the US at the time. And who knows? This may be the first of several long distance group calls – not just with the Bay Area crew, either! As usual, we have a little bit of news to share and discuss, not too much but there are plenty of local events, too, for those in the Portland area. And because the Kaiju-sation -ok, you have to agree that’s a terrible name- was so long, we were only able to play a few songs (and the episode still came in at one hour and twenty minutes!). Clean12.30.2011: Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Daikaiju Discussion | My kaiju cadre of discussioneers for this month: Cindy, Martin, the Mad Marquis and T'Igor talk Godzilla vs Destoroyah! Ahh, what a year this has been for the Kaijucast! And what a way to end it… with episode 48, the Daikaiju Discussion for 1995′s kaiju battle royale Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. Obviously this is one of my favorite movies in the franchise and there’s not enough time in one podcast to talk about all that makes me swoon as a Godzilla fan within this film. Clean12.13.2011: Kaijucast Live Listener Party | Check out all of the awesome prizes we gave away at during the live show! Special thanks to Things From Another World, The Monster Project and IDW Publishing. Was it all a bit too much? You'd better believe it! Now that I’ve decompressed from our night of awesomeness that was the “Kaijucast Emergency Broadcast” (aka our live show), I’m able to post the audio from that TWO AND A HALF HOURS OF UNMITIGATED CHAOS! Greetings and salutations, Kaijucast fans and followers! Episode #46 is here and I’d like you all to prepare yourselves for a LOT of talking. “Why?” you might ask yourself. Because in this excursion into the land of giant rubber monsters, we take a look at the 1992 Toho tale known as Godzilla vs. Mothra. Clean11.10.2011: Godzilla Legends’ Matt Frank & my trip to Japan! | Can you see the majesty in this photo?? These are Matt Frank's Retailer Incentive covers to Godzilla Legends issue #1. Matt joined us for this episode and we talked all about this fantastic new entry into Godzilla comic-dom! Greetings and salutations, listeners! For this episode (number 45 for those counting!), Heather, Jeff and I were lucky to have the extremely talented and exuberant Matt Frank join us through Skype to talk about the brand new comic he’s worked on called Godzilla Legends, a brand new mini-series from IDW Publishing that should be on sale next week. Clean10.31.2011: Our First Ultraman Daikaiju Discussion | The Ultraman entrance to Tokyo's Ultraman Street greets you, dear listener, for this episode raises its beta capsule and unleashes a whole lotta' Ultra on you ears! So this month, our film under the Daikaiju Discussion microscope was Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna, Ultraman Gaia: Battle in Hyperspace. With the craziness of just getting back from my big Asia trip (I’m definitely wiped out and I think you can tell in this episode) and the Halloween weekend, I decided that T’Igor and I would keep this viewing low-key and just watch this meta Ultra film on our own (breaking it down as best as we can). Honestly, I just don’t know much about Ultraman. I have seen most (I think) of the first series, but none of the others. When Ultraman Tiga was on Fox, T’Igor and I tried to watch it as much as possible, but it’s not really my speed. Regardless of my Ultra-feelings, I did find the movie enjoyable in some ways. We didn’t actually get any real discussion submissions for this one (which wasn’t a surprise), you’ll hear what I mean. In addition to the movie, I played a number of requested Ultra music (that was tossed out there for the FB fans). Is it just me, or are the intros super long to these shows? Also, sorry the quality of the English intro isn’t better. I seem to only have a high quality version of the Japanese song. And of course we had some news and local events, too! ULTRA MUSIC 1. Clean10.27.2011: Yokai Spooktacular and an interview w/Matt Alt | Yokai Spooktacular special guest, Matt Alt! Woohoo – another Yokai episode (and it’s about time, too!)… So, first off, apologies for the delay in the posting of this episode. I’m actually editing and writing and trying to get this online from a hotel room in China. I’m in country number four of a four-country Asia visit for my work. One of those countries I was able to visit, however, was the land of the rising sun, Japan. And since I was in Tokyo and since this is the October episode of the show, we have a special interview (conducted in person) with Matt Alt. Matt is the co-author of Yokai Attack!, a book that focuses it’s gaze on the creepy and weird ghosts and goblins of Japan. Matt met up with me in an area of Tokyo called Kichijoji and talked about these wild creatures and why they exist. Clean09.29.2011: Discussing Space Amoebas | Jeff, Cindy and the disembodied head of Justin sit down to talk about Yog Monster From Space (aka Space Amoeba) on this month's Daikaiju Discussion episode! In this very special episode of the Kaijucast, we are celebrating. Kind of … Ok, not really celebrating, but for my birthday, I got a new mixer and because of that I’m still tweaking the buttons, knobs and sliders. I think it sounds a lot better actualy, but let me know what you think. In this particular episode, we take a close look at the 1970 film, Yog, Monster From Space (otherwise known as Space Amoeba). The film is enjoyable, and actually I think it deserves a little more respect and notoriety than it typically gets, but it’s not in the upper echelon of kaiju films. Clean9.10.2011: Interview w/ Adam Alexander of The Monster Project | Kyle is joined by Adam of The Monster Project to talk in great depth about his amazing Godzilla music CD. Do yourself an favor and check it out! This particular episode (episode 41) may just go down as one of my favorites. Why, you might ask? Because our guest tonight on the Kaijucast is Adam Alexander of The Monster Project! What’s that? You haven’t heard of The Monster Project, you say?! You are in luck, sir or madame as the case may be, because not only does Adam talk about the CD he created, we also play two of the tracks on the show… and, if that’s not enough, you can always check out his website to hear the whole thing for free. Now, even though you can listen for free, I really, really hope some of you buy the CD because (and this harkens back to my love of DIY projects) Adam and the rest of his septet made this! Clean08.31.2011: Gamera vs Viras Daikaiju Discussion | Justin, Heather, The Mad Marquis de Maltease, Sophie Maltease, Cindy and I talk about (and make a little fun of) the 1968 Gamera vs Viras. Wowzers – this is episode number FORTY. I find it kind of hard to believe that if you chose to do so, one could actually listen to us talk for two days straight! Now that the flabbergastation is waning, I should warn you that in this episode we open up the can of turtle soup and take a long look at a classic Gamera film and one of my favorites from the Showa era, Gamera vs Viras (1968). When I say “we” the audience consisted of Justin from the Going Last Podcast, my co-host Heather, my friend Cindy and some new additions to the Kaijucast roster: Sophie and the Mad Marquis de Maltease (the Marquis was on the last show) of Critical Hit Burlesque. Things got a little goofy because this Gamera film, although a LOT of fun, is ridiculous in many areas. 08.16.2011: Critical Hit Burlesque | Critical Hit Burlesque's Mad Marquis De Maltease joins Heather & Kyle this month for some geeky talk about burlesque in Portland! So… weird show this month. We were going to talk about a Godzilla-esque tabletop game with Justin, but unfortunately our schedules didn’t sync up. So instead of having our guest this month simply promote his own show (the original intent), we asked the Mad Marquis De Maltease from Critical Hit Burlesque -who is a long-time geek- talk about the Geeklesque shows that have been the talk of Portland in recent months. You may have heard us talk about Geeklesque before. Just as the name implies, these shows are burlesque with a geeky twist. It is of course not an all-ages event, but it is always a fantastic time and Heather & I have yet to miss any of the Geeklesque performances. Clean07.31.2011: Daikaiju Discussion for GODZILLA 2000 | This month, I am joined by Cindy, Justin, Heather & T'Igor for this month's Daikaiju Discussion on Godzilla 2000. Break out the celebratory bottles of red soma drink because another episode is upon us, internet! This month’s Daikaiju Discussion episode (Epside 38 for those counting) takes a stern look at the 1999 Toho film and the beginning of the Millennium (or Shinsei) era of Godzilla films: GODZILLA 2000! Much like Godzilla 1985, this movie has the distinct honor of being the only film of the Millennium series to be released in theaters across the United States. Heather, Justin, Cindy, T’Igor and I all gathered here at the Kaijucast HQ to watch it. We enjoyed watching the movie, but in general felt that it just fell a little flat. We get into all of that in the episode and as a bonus, Heather is back to help with the co-hosting duties. Clean07.10.2011: Godzilla Crushes The Kaijucast HQ with Matt Frank! | This month, the Kaijucast is joined by the one and only Matt Frank (yay)! Howdy, Godzilla fans! Episode number thirty seven is upon us and this month, the magic of the interwebs brings us an interview with the one, the only, long-time kaiju fan and artist Matt Frank. If the name sounds unfamiliar to you, Matt was the creator of the NeoGodzilla monster redesigns that have caught the eyes of many Godzilla lovers for years. If you aren’t familiar with those, perhaps you are familiar with a little comic called Godzilla: Kingdom Of Monsters? You should be; I talk about it enough! Well Matt has been making the retailer incentive covers and some of the other exclusive covers, too, and I thought having him on the show would be a great excuse to shoot the radioactive breeze with another fellow G-Fan! While it would be very easy to fall into the standard tell-me-about-working-on-IDW’s-Godzilla-series line of questioning (which we do cover a little bit), Matt is such a devoted Godzilla fan that I really just wanted to talk about his fanaticism for the Big G and any projects he has going on. What we came up with was really conversational and it was so much fun talking with him that when we hit the forty-minute mark, I really could have just kept going. Clean06.26.2011: Daikaiju Discussion Return of Daimajin | Dave, Sean, Cindy Heather & myself all break down why Return of Daimajin is such an awesome film in this month's Daikaiju Discussion! Episode 36 is here, folks! We had a great crew over to talk about the second in the Daimajin trilogy: Heather, Cindy, Dave (aka Baron Von Goolo) and Sean (who hasn’t been over in ages – you’d have to hit the “way back” button to hear him) and I watched this classic monster movie from one of Toho’s rival film companies at the time: Daiei Pictures. While the film basically plays out like a samurai flick with a giant vengeful monster tacked onto it, we had an excellent time watching the film and if, for some really unfortunate and slightly crazy reason, you haven’t seen the Daimajin trilogy, make sure you pick them up later this year when Mill Creek Entertainment releases them later this year on BluRay – they are a fantastic landmark on the giant monster landscape. Wow – Episode 35 is upon us! And after missing a few Daikaiju Discussions, Jeff Dean -half of the terrifying team that puts on Horror Holocaust- joins us for a conversational episode about Godzilla. In addition to simply great conversation, we are also reviewing the very first issue of IDW Publishing’s first Godzilla mini-series, Gangsters & Goliaths. This is an amazing first issue by John Layman and Alberto Ponticelli. Hopefully you’ve picked it up or will go buy it from your local comic book shop – we highly suggest it! So, anyway, it has been a really long time since Jeff sat down without having watched a movie for the Daikaiju Discussions and the last time we did that, I ended up recording for close to two hours. So during the local convention Wonder Northwest, I was part of a podcasting panel with Cort & Fatboy (of the Cort & Fatboy Show), Matt Hunter (of the A Jumps, B Shoots podcast) and Kaebel Hashitani (who represented the Geek In The City podcast as Dr. Manticore). It was hosted by Rick Emerson (The Rick Emerson Show, Legion of News). I asked on Facebook if anyone would be interested in hearing the audio from this episode and the response was positive. I want to reiterate that this is not “clean” supplemental material, but for anyone that wanted to hear said panel audio, here you go. Clean05.31.2011: Godzilla 1985 Daikaiju Discussion | Martin, Cindy, Kyle, T'Igor, Heather & Justin take a trip way back to the glorious mid-eighties of Japan and spend a lot of time talking about Godzilla 1985. I think I need to give myself a little more time to produce these Daikaiju Discussions! This is barely going to make it into the month of May, but I promised it would and here it is… episode 34 of the Kaijucast and this month we are talking all about the first Godzilla movie I ever saw, Godzilla 1985. In doing research on the film, I kind of decided to stop calling it “Godzilla Returns” because that’s more of a fan title I think. Actually I don’t know what else to call it since the actual title in Japan was just “Godzilla” (kind of makes things difficult on the fandom, Toho…). Anyway, we sat down for a Kaijucast first for this screening by watching the Japanese film and immediately following that with the American version (big thanks to Chris who sent me a DVD made from his VHS tape!). While it was a great idea from the brains of Cindy & Martin and an interesting experiment, I think it was too long before we recorded. So we had a lot to talk about in this episode. Clean05.13.2011: Godzilla vs Eric Powell | Totally NOT live from this year's Stumptown Comics Fest, I was fortunate enough to interview Eric Powell (Godzilla: Kingdom Of Monsters, The Goon) for this episode of the Kaijucast! At this year’s Stumptown Comics Fest, I was fortunate enough to interview the author (or co-author, actually) of IDW Publishing’s Godzilla: Kingdom Of Monsters title about his history in comics, his work on the new Godzilla book and what we can expect in the future with this title and his upcoming release of The Goon. Clean04.28.2011: Yongary Monster of the Deep Daikaiju Discussion | This month I am joined by Justin, Heather, Martin & Cindy to watch and then discuss the 1967 Korean Kaiju, Yongary! Oh, boy. That’s another episode “in the can” as it were (episode 32 if you are counting), and what a can it was! We had the honor and privilege of watching the 1967 Korean monster movie Yongary Monster of the Deep this evening for the Daikaiju Discussion this month and, wow, what a film. I feel like I need to preface the following statements with the acknowledgement that no one in the Kaijucast HQ had seen the film before. It was not a terrible film, but not a good film either. It was cheesy and flabbergasting, but the best part about watching this film was that I was with my friends. Martin, Justin & Heather were “live tweeting” during the movie (and if you want to see those tweets, here they are). Regardless of the amount of ribbing this film received on this episode, I really do want to say it was kind of thrilling to see a giant monster movie for the first time and I definitely suggest you watch this film, especially if you have Netflix streaming – that’s how we watched it (thanks, Jim!) and it looked great! Clean04.09.2011: Godzilla vs Wondercon (aka the Post-Con’ Wrapup) | Kyle & Heather break down the majesty of San Francisco's 25th Wondercon! And speaking of majesty, check out those Wondercon exclusive Godzilla Kingdom Of Monsters issues. Well we are back from the bay, people! This month, T’Igor, Justin, Heather and I drove down to a fantastic yearly convention called Wondercon. We went last year as patron’s but this year, we were covering the event for this little thing I keep doing here (I’m talking about the podcast, if I’m being too vague). There was a lot to see and if you aren’t a fan of the Kaijucast on facebook, make sure you like it and check out the Wondercon 2011 gallery. This three day convention was so much fun and we wanted to share the con-experience with you all. Since I didn’t have anyone to actually interview in this episode, (the con was strangely devoid of any figureheads from the Godzilla comics or Legendary Pictures) I figured that I’d ask my good friend Heather to co-host the show with me. You should remember Heather from her appearance with Justin in episode 27 from February of this year (and the Terror of Mechagodzilla Daikaiju Discussion as well). Clean03.29.2011: Daikaiju Discussion Godzilla vs. Megalon | The Daikaiju Discussion crew for Godzilla vs Megalon! Surviving. It’s all about surviving, which is exactly what we did this month because we watched Megalon – and then we talked about it. Ok, it wasn’t that bad, but seriously, we had a lot of fun watching this movie and I was joined by Cindy, Martin, T’Igor and Jeff. The episode is online and available here. For some insane reason, I decided that I was going to be completely respectable for this showing and try (very hard) to find nothing but good things to say about the film. Clean03.16.2011: Godzilla friends, the miniseries & the Emerald City | Godzilla Fans, friends & long-time listeners Bryan and Rachel visited me way out here in Orygun (all the way from Colorado). We talked movies and monsters and had a blast! And we’re baaaaack! So at the beginning of the month we (meaning Heather, Justin, T’Igor & I) went to the 9th annual Emerald City Comicon. It was the fourth year that I’ve gone (because I do love the convention), but the first time as press because I’m usually encased in plastic with the other Imperial Stormtroopers of the 501st Legion. This year, however, I went specifically for coverage (as I will be doing for Wondercon and maybe that big deal in San Diego, too). I was going to do an entire recap of Emerald City with Heather, but both she and Justin got the convention ick afterwards and timing just didn’t work out. But fret not, dear listeners, for my proverbial butt was saved by the extremely timely visitation of Bryan and Rachel Cook who I met in Colorado last year. So this month you do get to hear from some hardcore Godzilla fans about Godzilla stuff. Basically, we’ll be watching a subtitled version in an attempt to class it up as much as possible (unless I break down and get the Australian release), but since this movie isn’t super-avaialble in the US, watch what you can – whether you pop in an old VHS tape or the laserdisc or if you have to watch (*gasp*) an illegitimate version of the film. I hope to get as many submissions as we did for the ’75 Godzilla film. Just make sure you get your thoughts, questions and reviews in by the last week of the month. Clean02.12.2011: Awesome People Talk Godzilla & BONUS Phil Hester Interview! | This month, we return with another of the popular casual/non-fan interviews with my friends Heather & Justin! Konnichiwa, loyal listeners and welcome to episode 27 of the Kaijucast (which can be downloaded right here). It seems that at least once a year, I invite some casual/non-fans to the show in order to get their reaction to Kaiju films and this is the episode to do that. Welcome to the second episode of the Kaijucast for 2011. Exciting times as we’re still in January and this is the first Daikaiju Discussion-centric show of the year. This is the film for which Toho brought back Ishiro Honda and Akira Ifukube and its one of the only direct sequels to its previous film in the Showa era. This one is available from Classic Media in quite a nice format. If you don’t already have it, try and track down a copy for your own collection (also, try to avoid the older version – it’s pretty low quality). Clean01.13.2011: Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters (the IDW Interview) | IDW Publishing's team of Chris Ryall, Chris Mowry, Carlos Guzman and Bobby Curnow talked with the Kaijucast about their upcoming series, Godzilla Kingdom of Monsters. Happy New Year, my dearest listeners! Why on earth is the first episode of 2011 (which is the twenty-fifth episode and available for download right here) online so early? Well that’s the product of my only New Year’s resolution which is -hope you are sitting down- to do TWO EPISODES PER MONTH! I basically wanted to split these episodes up into the interview episode and the Daikaiju Discussion episode for each month. I promise I won’t burn out, since essentially this was what I’m already doing in one big push. My special guests are from a little comic book company called IDW Publishing. Clean11.29.2010: What Does Godzilla Eat For Thanksgiving? | Godzilla, Gamera and an assortment of friends made up this year's centerpiece at the Kaijucast Thanksgiving celebration! You know what I am thankful for? I mean, other than the family/friends standard answer… I’m thankful for these amazing movies and that so many people are able to look past their flaws and suspension-of-disbelief requirement and focus on the fantastic stories and craftsmanship that these films employ. I’m also thankful for the fine, outstanding citizens of the world that listen to this show. And this month’s show (which is episode number twenty-three and available right here). It seems that each episode I keep having to reel in the discussions in time for the show to come closer to it’s hour-ish long content. So because of that I’m considering a new format to the show - check out the poll to the right and let me know your thoughts. I’m all settled in my new place and my monsters are on display in the all-new Kaijucast headquarters (it’s awesome, not only do I have room to display all of my collection and posters, I also have a killer kaiju theater going on here). Episode number EIGHTEEN is up and running and ready to tantalize your earbuds! For this episode of the Kaijucast, I travelled North to the Emerald City – otherwise known as Seattle for the 2010 Crypticon Horror Convention. I drove up specifically to be on a panel with other Godzilla fans to talk about the history of our giant radioactive deity. The coolest part about it was meeting new fans, Kelly Young, Aron Tarbuck, Jeff Burk and Nick the Hat. While doing this, I recorded the panel and that audio takes up a majority of this month’s show. I will warn you that the audio quality is a little rough since we didn’t have any fancy sound equipment, but it is definitely enjoyable. So I just got back from Idaho last night, and boy did I have a lot of editing to do! Clean04.29.2010: San Francisco rocked by the Kaijucast! | April's target for the Kaijucast spotlight, August Ragone, sat down to talk to me about Eiji Tsuburaya's classic Japanese Science Fiction show, Ultra Q. Ok, so I didn’t really rock San Francisco – just the Moscone Center, where Wondercon is held. Wondercon was really a fantastic convention and I was very psyched to have the opportunity to head down to the show. Aside from geeking out about comics and artists and everything else that was happening at the show (*cough*cough*doctor who premiere) I was able to see a couple of my local friends, meet new people and record the interview for this episode of the Kaijucast. That episode, number sixteen by the way, is available for download right here. The person who I hooked up with or this interview was none other than August Ragone, a long time friend of mine who took the time to talk specifically about a television show from the mid-1960s in Japan called, Ultra Q. If you’ve never seen Ultra Q or have always been curious, this is the episode for you to listen to. The series is such an important keystone for not only Kaiju films, but also for most everything you all love that comes out of Japan. August and I sat down in a coffee shop outside of the convention center so there’s going to be some background noise, but I’ll tell you… finding a place near that convention that wasn’t filled with ambient audio was nigh impossible! Regardless, we talked for quite a while about Eiji Tsuburaya’s breakthrough television show, and it came out really well (if I don’t say so myself). Clean02.10.2010: Kaijucast supplemental (aka not a full episode) | (Left to right) Kyle, Jodi, Jeff, Cindy & Martin join forces against the insanity that is Godzilla Final Wars! So, after trimming the discussion to bits in order for the January episode to resemble something reminiscent of an hour long show, it dawned on me that I had to cut a lot of stuff that I would have liked to include. So, for the hardcore fans out there, I proudly present the almost unedited discussion of Godzilla Final Wars (there were a few moments that were, shall we say, not kid friendly), including the off-topic and rather tangential conversations that were sparked from this bizarre film. Oh, and if you haven’t listened to the full episode from January, make sure you do so, as it has all of the regular music and the chopped down version where I actually have the budget and gross of Final Wars — sorry for the spoiler. This entire thing was a lot of fun, so naturally I do plan on making this whole monthly movie watching party/discussion thing a permanent to semi-permanent fixture in my life. Clean01.31.2010: Akemashite omedeto, Kaijucast fans! | Happy Twenty Ten, my loyal fans and new listeners and even those who don’t really care for the show! The new year is here and while it’s already been here for almost a month, I’m just starting things up! This month’s episode (which, by the way, is available for download here) features some very exciting stuff – mainly the brand new segment called Daikaiju Discussions! To kick off the new assignment based session, I invited all of my former guests (at least the locals) over to watch Godzilla Final Wars. After the film we talked about the film and I recorded it. But my fantastic guest this month was none other than my own son, T’Igor. Well, I think he knows a little something about a little series called Ultraman. I just wanted to give my ultra special listeners a small sampling of Tsuburaya’s Wide World of Ultraman. I think a lot of newcomers to the Godzilla genre might have some negative things to say about the mysterious visitor from outer space, but lets hope this episode sheds a positive light on the hero. This was also the first time I’ve ever attempted to record a show over through Skype. 10.27.2009: Japanese Ghosts and Goblins take over episode 10 | Kyle and Jeff attempt to ward off angry bakemono and mischievous kitsune on this spine-tingling episode of the Kaijucast! Truth be told, this is my favorite time of year… Halloween! And what better way to celebrate the creep-tastic season than by forgoing my normal Godzilla talk and shedding a little light on those bizarre Yokai films from Japan. You know you’ve seen the chirashi or the figurines every once in a while and if you had no idea what those were or where they came from, this is the episode for you. My good friend Jeff Dean from Horror Holocaust was kind enough to come back to the console and talk things up a bit with me… and what we discuss is pretty much just a primer showcasing some of the films dealing with Yokai. 08.19.2009: East & West see eye to eye for Kaijucast Epsiode 8… | East meets the West in a cataclysmic battle to assault the senses in Jim Walsh vs. Kyle Yount Is my watch right? Why is the Kaijucast so early this month? Oh, right, it’s because my special guest, Jim Walsh, came to visit me from New Jersey and I just had to have him on the show. Jim and I geeked out on Godzilla mecha and model kits for a long time even before we started recording the session. Eventually we sat down in the hallowed Kaijucast studio for another one of those classic time-flies-when-you’re-having-fun talks. Clean07.30.2009: I’ve finally finished Episode 7 (the G-Fest Episode)! | Kenji Sahara and I just after the interview. Oh man, was this a different kind of show this time! Usually I sit at the table with my audio equipment and have everything all planned out and hit record, do the show, maybe spend a little time editing and then it up, into the ionosphere (or whatever we’re calling the internet these days). But this episode, let me tell ya, it was a LOT of editing. But it’s here and, really, it’s just a portion of what I recorded. Cindy is an old friend of mine from here in Portland who not only has been entrenched in the comic book scene since I’ve known her, but also happens to love Godzilla! Clean04.29.2009: Squeaking in at the eleventh hour….Episode 4! | Finally managed to wrap up my Godzilla podcast for April! Where does the time go?? Is it really so close to the end of this month? Well regardless of my problems with time and space theory, it’s here! The new (sort of) episode of the Kaijucast! It was a little odd sitting here all by my lonesome with a microphone, so I am definitely not interested in doing this show by myself as a long term thing. I got a little too rambly for my own taste, but I tried to keep it in check for the few minutes that I was flying solo. I guess I am just going to need a co-host per show! One of the greats
This is truly the best podcast I have ever heard, hands down. It is fun, facinating, and the banther between the host and his guest are amusing. Truly a must have for all iPod folks. Even if you don't love Godzilla, you will still enjoy this romp through campy Japanese cinema that invade America oh so long ago.

Godzilla Comes Alive on Itunes!
Great podcast for any fans of Godzilla and giant monster films. Kyle Yount has done a fine job mixing Godzilla discussions, news, and music to make an entertaining podcast. He is only into his third podcast (as of this review) and the production itself is polished and sounds like he's been doing this for awhile. Give it a listen!
