| 7 | VideoAspen X Games 10 | Aspen may be a haven for the rich and famous, but the week of the X Games brings in a whole new crowd. After driving from Denver, we headed straight to Snowmass for some fun in the sun. There was a full supply of PBR to keep the party alive, and we made sure to hit up the industry parties. The first night was the Mountain Dew MDX party, which required a cold gondola ride up on Aspen Mountain. The second night was Powder Magazine's 6th Annual Video and Reader Poll Awards where we got to rub elbows with some of the best skiers and filmers in the world. Finally on the last day in Aspen, we made it over to the X Games to watch the ski slopestyle turned big air contest. | 10 | VideoBig Snow, Little Movie | We apologize for the delay in video releases, but Mother Nature has been pounding the Cascade Mountains with wind and rain for weeks. The good news is that the wait is over and we were rewarded with an epic powder day. With over 2 feet of new snow in 48 hours, Crystal Mountain offers terrain that rivals any resort in the world. We got fresh lines all day long by making laps around the upper mountain, and it was snowing so much that our tracks were filling in every hour. The best run was by far Exterminator, a double-black diamond back to the frontside that is accessible via a small hike up from Iceberg's Ridge. We flew into town for meetings and the Scott USA holiday party, but made time to ride the mountain. They had a big snowfall the prior week, and we were fortunate enough to be there the day the bowls opened up. Our outing at Stevens last weekend marked a week and a half of no snow, but the few runs that were open were still in good shape. In an attempt to shortcut across the mountain, we were thwarted by the melting snow pack. It turns out that a wet boot is reason enough to break for cheeseburgers and beers. Actually three lifts were running, but the Daisy chair doesn't count. It seems odd that Stevens didn't open up more lifts for opening day, yet they announced others would be open for Day 2. Too bad it was 40 degrees and raining the next day. Located just minutes outside Seattle there is a small network of trails in and around Saint Edward State Park. Each day spiders loom over the computer, and it has become quite fascinating. This year there have been more spiders than usual in Seattle. According the Farmer's Almanac, that means we'll have a cold winter. Who knows, but damn there are a lot of spiders this year. Extremely Innovative & Hugely Entertaining!
I stumbled across Lean Back Vids after reading an article about vlogging in the Denver Post (January 12, 2006). The videos are always fresh and incorporate cool effects set to great sound tracks. The creators of Lean Back Vids never cease to impress! Check them out when you get a chance as these guys do a superb job.
