Nice Method...but truely not free
While the Podcast is free and done extremley well, the further in you get the more your realize your going to have to spend $30.00 USD a month (to access the workshops online) to truely consolidate the lessons. I have been studying for about 2 months... while i have been learning alot, I am on lesson 20-23. The further in I get, the more I realize to really learn Mandarin I am going to have to pay the money per month to truley establish the tones and structure. While Ken harps on needing the pay the money to deepen the knowledge, its not required, but, It would take a truley genious mind, or at least one that is incredibly dedicated to learning mandarin without the workshops JUST BE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE YOU START
ipod hanyu
So a few months ago I found ChinesePod.com. I have been studying Chinese informally for a few years. I have sat thought university classes, used computer programs, and listened to the Pimsleur series. All of them are complementary to the learning process. So when I listened to ChinesePod, I was expecting it to be too simplistic. Well, I was really fooled. It was remarkably helpful, especially in the diction category. I have been struggling to improve my diction and pronunciation (I am nearly a senior citizen so hearing is problematic). The lessons are appropriate to both beginning and intermediate speakers. It adds realism and interest to learning, provides a contemporary context for modern Chinese, and does not hesitate to span a wide spectrum of scenarios. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening and have recommended it to my friends interested in learning Chinese.Kudos to Ken and Jenny for an intelligent and charming program.

Looks like they are no longer podcasting, Chinesepod seems to force users to sign up on their website and pay for access to material which they previously offered for free.
