wastes time

Just because the Chinese is beginner Chinese it does not mean that the English should be spoken at an extremely SLOW pace. This podcast covers very small dialogues that could possibly be helpful. The Chinese spoken is clear and easy to follow. However, the speed with which the English is spoken makes this podcast not worth it to me. It wastes my time listening to very deliberate, enunciated English when what I want is to spend time listening to Chinese. They speak English slower than I speak English to my ESL students!!!

pronounciation kills me

The lessons are pretty good, the amount of information covered is not bad, but i just cannot stand their Chinese pronounciations!! The man speaking Chinese has a worse accent than the woman, but neither of them have very great accents. I speak Mandarin fluently and wanted to brush up on my vocabulary and I cannot believe people are learning to speak Chinese from teachers who can't even pronounce the words perfectly! It's like trying to learn English from someone with a Southern drawl or a New Yorker accent! In fact, I sampled a majority of these "learn Chinese" podcasts and many of the Chinese speakers have regional accents. If you want to hear politically correct and accurate Mandarin, listen to the news in Chinese. iMandarinPod.com is the only podcast I've found so far with correct, standardized, Mandarin pronounciations. I'd like to post this message on a lot of the other podcasts but maybe another time.

Fun & Informative

I was just about to spend hard earned money on a Chinese language book when I came across this podcast. After listening to just the first episode I was hooked, subcribed, and got all the remaining episodes. It was fun, easy to understand, made sense, informative, you get the idea. To those of you at Chineselearnonline, I look forward to each new episode; keep up the great work!
