"Pro-Life 101" plus info for more advanced activists

     

Even though it's under the "Christianity" category, this is a good podcast for pro-lifers in general. Serge's segments on recent publications in the medical literature are interesting and informative. In addition, each podcast usually has a segment where the hosts discuss an argument for or against the pro-life position in a basic but intelligent way. These are pretty good resources for beginning activists, and for people who want to learn about the pro-life view from actual pro-lifers (as opposed to the distorted view given by their opponents). The hosts are definitely conservative, but not dogmatically so and seem pretty fair-minded. I have two criticisms. The first is that I think the discourse is generally too removed from women's experiences. Yes, abortion is a human rights issue, but it is also inextricable from many women's issues. The second is that I think it's oddly classified. Although the podcast is certainly coming at the pro-life position from a Christian point of view, it's not really what I'd call a Christian podcast. It's a minor quibble, but I think that putting it under a "Politics" or "Social Issues" type of label (not sure what the iTunes Store categorization scheme has to offer) would give potential listeners a better indication of what the content is like.
