1 |
Clean"Battleship," "The Dictator," "What to Expect When You're Expecting," "Elena," "The Devil, Probably" | Dave is still on his Bresson kick, Alonso shares another John Hughes memory, and both of them find BATTLESHIP to be entertaining if still a piece of crap. Clean"Dark Shadows," "Bernie," "God Bless America," "Girl in Progress," "Where Do We Go Now?" | This week, Dave is very fancy while Alonso sees vintage rollerblading movies. But they both love it when Richard Linklater stays in Texas and think Bobcat Goldthwait is aiming at the wrong targets. Oh, and get it together, Tim Burton. | 5/13/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
3 |
Clean"The Avengers," "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "A Little Bit of Heaven," "The Five-Year Engagement," "The Pirates! Band of M | Dave and Alonso are joined by Alonso's college pal (and comics enabler) film critic Curt Holman @curt_holman to talk about Joss Whedon's super-team hit. Find out Alonso and Dave's funeral wishes, which one of them is a Nigella Lawson fanboy, and why The Avengers are like #Occupy | 5/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
4 |
Clean"Think Like a Man," "The Lucky One," "Chimpanzee," "Darling Companion," "Detention" | Alonso analyzes the mechanics of getting "the nod" from hip indie record-store clerks, while Dave laments the passing of Sara Lee cheesecake bites and NBC's "Providence" (in tandem) before praising TORQUE again. | 4/22/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
5 |
Clean"The Three Stooges," "The Cabin in the Woods," "Lockout," "Family Nest" | Dave and Alonso disagree about the Three Stooges (but not about the new movie of the same name) and try to figure out just what a "fanboy movie" is and why the general public seems not to like them. And Alonso sees his first Béla Tarr movie. Like us on Facebook, follow our show on Twitter @linoleumcast | 4/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
6 |
Clean"American Reunion," "Titanic 3D," "Damsels in Distress," "Keyhole" | Special guests Grae Drake and Drew Droege join Alonso and Dave on Easter to discuss new movies; this is probably the only podcast you'll hear this week to reference "The Apple," Jodorowsky, "Taradise," Céilne Dion, Guy Maddin, Béla Tarr and "Josie and the Pussycats." P.S. The audio levels are all over the place. Sorry. | 4/8/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
7 |
Clean"Wrath of the Titans," "Mirror Mirror," "Goon," "Bully" | Alonso and guest host Matt Atchity of Rotten Tomatoes (aka "Fat Beardo 1" & "Fat Beardo 2" to some What the Flick?! viewers) talk about the death of regional film criticism (in print, anyway) and the ongoing problems with the MPAA ratings system when not actually discussing this week's new movies. Follow Matt @MAtchity on Twitter. | 4/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
8 |
Clean"The Hunger Games," "The Raid: Redemption," "The Deep Blue Sea," Revisiting "The Clock" | Dave's shocking revelations about his childhood flirtation with showtunes shock Alonso, and they eventually talk about the week's new movies after a long digression involving Christian Marclay's 24-hour film "The Clock." | 3/25/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
9 |
Clean"21 Jump Street," "Jeff, Who Lives at Home," "Casa de Mi Padre," "The Kid with a Bike," "Natural Selection" | Dave's excited over his new headphones, while Alonso goes down a rabbit-hole of TV nostalgia. All this, plus brioche, Hokeys and cinemaniacs. | 3/18/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
10 |
Clean"John Carter," "Friends with Kids," "A Thousand Words," "This is Not a Film," "Silent House," "Footnote," "Playback," "Salmon F | So many movies this week, but Dave and Alonso still find time to talk about Doomsday Preppers, the Adam Scott/Hellraiser connection, and the eternal mystery that is Loretta aka Chiffon. | 3/11/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
11 |
Clean"The Lorax," "Project X," "Being Flynn," "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie," "The Snowtown Murders," "The Lorax" | Dave and Alonso endure the longest opening theme song ever, debate the relative merits of 1982 vs. 1984 summer movies, and disagree over the meaning of the word "free-wheeling." | 3/4/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
12 |
Clean"Act of Valor," "Tyler Perry's Good Deeds," "Wanderlust," "Gone," 84th Annual Academy Awards | Dave and Alonso want everyone to start behaving themselves in movie theaters, even though that seems to be a totally lost cause. They also have plenty to say about the forward momentum of Tyler Perry as a director and are much less interested in rehashing this year's Oscar show. | 2/27/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
13 |
Clean"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," "This Means War," "The Secret World of Arrietty," "Michael," "Bullhead" | Dave and Alonso are kind of bummed this week, because if you can't trust Nicolas Cage and the guys behind "Crank" to make an interesting movie about a flaming skeleton who rides a motorcycle, what's the point? | 2/19/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
14 |
Clean"The Vow," "Safe House," "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," "Chico & Rita" | Dave and Alonso get side-tracked from this week movies and discuss Glitter and Sissy Spacek and Whitney Houston and Mary Kay Place and then somehow Glitter again. But they also review ths week's new movies. Except for Star Wars Episode I in 3-D, because seriously who cares. | 2/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
15 |
Clean"Chronicle," "The Woman in Black," "Big Miracle," "The Innkeepers," "Kill List," "W.E." | TV star and sassy lady Christy Lemire joins Alonso for mimosas and Madonna, and discussions of haunted-house movies and 1980s sex romps. Follow her on Twitter: @christylemire | 2/5/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
16 |
Clean"The Grey," "One for the Money," "Man on a Ledge," "Declaration of War" | Dave and Alonso are sort of perplexed by the careers of Katherine Heigl and Sam Worthington. Liam Neeson, on the other hand, totally gets a pass, as do movies full of references to the French New Wave. | 1/29/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
17 |
Clean"Underworld Awakening," "Red Tails," "Haywire," "Crazy Horse," Sundance 2012 | Alonso's back from Park City, so this slightly tardy episode features his favorite films from the Sundance Film Festival, along with Dave's pick of good and bad action movies with female leads, and a documentary that's almost entirely about breasteses. | 1/25/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
18 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 01/15/12: "Contraband," "Joyful Noise," "The Divide," "Pina" | Dave and Alonso are rendered almost speechless by the cruddiness of most of this week's movies, all the better to leave time to talk about lady doctors, Swinging London, and the intricacies of the "Petticoat Junction" theme song. | 1/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
19 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 01/08/12: The Cars That Go Boom | Dave and Alonso took a few weeks off, what with the holidays and their cars getting blown up by the LA Arsonist. So now they return with quick reviews of about a dozen movies plus tales of true crime. | 1/8/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
20 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 12/18/11: "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," "Alvin and the Chipmunks | It's Dave and Alonso's 50th episode, and the president has initiated ghost protocol. So they've got lots to say about Agnes Moorehead, Joan Didion, a certain church with a lot of L.A. real estate, macarons and the banning of the word "bromance." Happy Holidays! | 12/18/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
21 |

|
22 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 12/04/11: "Shame," "Outrage," "Coriolanus," "The Lady" | Dave and Alonso review the week's small movies that are the week's big movies, but they also cover pressing topics like hot-water bottles, Japanese pronunciation, and nostalgia for Steak & Ale. | 12/4/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
23 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 11/27/11: "The Muppets," "Hugo," "Arthur Christmas," "The Artist," "My Week with Marilyn," "A Dangerous Method," | Seven new movies this week, but Dave and Alonso still find time to come up with career suggestions for Martin Scorsese (involving an army of child film-preservation enthusiasts) and Jason Segel. |
25 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 11/13/11: "J. Edgar," "Melancholia," "Jack and Jill" | Guest co-host James Rocchi and Alonso judge Clint Eastwood's latest on the gay-gay-gay scale and wonder whether or not Adam Sandler can be considered a mob kingpin. | 11/13/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
26 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 11/06/11: "Tower Heist," "A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas" | Dave lays down his rules about listening to Christmas music and digs up an embarrassing article from the past, while Alonso wonders why Brett Ratner's new caper movie couldn't be as fun as, say, HOW TO BEAT THE HIGH CO$T OF LIVING. Can you even believe that this show is a year old? | 11/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
27 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 10/30/11: "Puss in Boots," "In Time," "Like Crazy," "Anonymous," "The Rum Diary" | Dave is cranky -- and only partially because he watched A Serbian Film -- but he still does his Ernest Borgnine impersonation. |
28 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 10/23/11: "Paranormal Activity 3," "The Three Musketeers," "Margin Call," "Martha Marcy May Marlene" | Dave and Alonso disagree about how scary surveillance-footage horror movies can be, but they're both fascinated to learn new things about the private lives of hyphenate Milla Jovovich and one-hit wonder Meryn Cadell. | 10/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
29 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 10/16/11: "Footloose," "The Big Year," "The Thing," "The Skin I Live In," "Trespass," "Texas Killing Fields," "F | Dave and Alonso discuss scary movies and butter burgers, and they disagree about contests, a new comedy, and how enthusiastic Alonso got at a press screening this week. | 10/16/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

|
34 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 09/11/11: "Warrior," "Contagion," "Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star," "We Were Here" | The scalping of Gwyneth Paltrow must be discussed, but first, Dave and Alonso have reminiscences about working in movie theaters during the summer of 1984. The ugly truth about nacho cheese and grape soda is frankly revealed. | 9/11/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
35 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 09/04/11: "Shark Night 3D," "Apollo 18," "The Debt" | It's Labor Day Weekend, and the movies kinda suck. Dave and Alonso would rather talk about Thundercats and beer pong and "American Idol" runners-up and the Spin Doctors and decapods. | 9/4/11 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
36 |
CleanLinoleum Knife 08/28/11: "Our Idiot Brother," "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," "Colombiana" | Guest critics Jen Yamato and Todd Gilchrist join Alonso to discuss more late-summer movies. (If only the "House Party" franchise had made it that far.) The bumps in the audio happened because we decided later it wasn't nice to out a fellow film critic for crying at "Marley & Me." | 8/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Customer Reviews
I Hate Movies....But I Love This Podcast
What seperates this podcast from nearly every other podcast is the chemistry between Alonso Duralde and Dave White. They are articulate, charming, and entertaining. It is always a pleasure to hear Dave attempt to adhere to the strict standards so that the podcast can have that "CLEAN" label.
If The Lockhorns were funny and liked good movies...
They still wouldn't be nearly as much fun to listen to as this podcast is. Full disclosure: I know these guys and not only do they possess immaculate taste and trenchant wit, they also help your whole house smell springtime fresh. A weekly rundown of the movies I'm too lazy to go see, along with odd phone interruptions and tips on what kind of tea to drink, and how to behave in the world without being a jerk. They tell it like it is, whatever "it" is.
Just adorable
These guys are legitimate and experienced film critics who have brought their unique style to the podosphere. While most podcasts review older releases these guys get all the new releases so you can get a jump on your weekend. Charm wit and style make the show a must-listen for all film fans. Subscribe now!
