Concise, professional, and "easy on the ears"
Serge's lessons are just the right length to allow my brain to absorb the couple of new concepts in each session. The grammatical constructs are introduced at the logical points, and even a truly awful language student like myself can get something useful. Chinese is a fascinating language, so very different in every way from the latin-based languages. Even if I end up not speaking or understanding it well, I will be able to better work with my many chinese-speaking co-workers simply because I understand how some concepts don't translate directly into english. Thanks, Serge!!
Easy way to learn basic Mandarin
I've downloaded several podcast about learning Chinese and this is by far the best. Serge is great, he speaks very clearly and explains the meaning of each word, phrase or sentence. I recomend this podcast to anyone who wants to learn basic Chinese.
Great Instruction
This is a great podcast if you want to learn Chinese. The lessons are geared towards vocabulary that is useful in everyday life in China or Taiwan. Serge does an excellent job making sure you will understand tones and how to pronounce each work correctly. It's helpful to hear him and his associate speak at normal speed at the end of each lesson- it's a real world chance to see if you comprehend the spoken Chinese at real speeds, which is the challenge when really in Taiwan or China actually speaking to a native chinese speaker. If you are truly interested in learning Chinese, this is the podcast for you.
