Podcast Description

MSRcast has spawned out of the long running fanzine Mainstream Resistance from Texas. We started out as a webzine then branched out to print. After many successful years in print, and with some tough times around 2000, we decided to put MSR (Mainstream Resistance) to bed for the time being. Some of the writers and editors of MSR still kept their metal roots grounded by writing for other metal zines and staying in the local metal scene. "Now is the time to show the world the rebirth of MSR," proclaims Evil C, the founder of Mainstream Resistance. It is the time to wake up the dormant corpse of Mainstream Resistance. Our podcasts will be a little bit different. Of course, in every episode, we will always be playing more metal than you can handle, including plenty of new releases, classic tracks, local Texas bands, and a strange cover song here and there. This will really have a zine feeling to it, as this is where we come from. You might have noticed from our playlist that we are very eclectic with the music that we enjoy, and this definitely will reflect our episodes. Although, we will have episodes that are tailored to a certain genre, mostly, our shows will be wildly varied. We will have special guests, interviews, reviews, and plenty of specialty shows. Keep it metal! F**k The Mainstream!

Horns up!

This is a great podcast for hearing a variety of metal. There is more of a gravitation toward extreme metal acts, but you'll hear plenty of power, doom, progressive, and everything in between too. The two hosts bring their own differing tastes to the table, which adds to the variety. If I had my druthers, they'd release episodes more often, but that is just evidence of how much I enjoy this podcast.
