Migrashun is pleased to announce the launch of a new series of mixes labeled Seed. Each mix will be performed by an artist from the amazing Migrashun roster or special guest. We have come to expect great things from these talented performers and are excited to release fresh material from each of them.

SEED 035 - Luke Hess - August 2011 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 035 by Luke Hess. Born in 1980 and raised in the Detroit area, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. In 2003 he recorded his first promotional mix CD release for UR/Submerge. Since then, his faith based music production has landed him a seat with FXHE, Planet-e, and Beretta Music in Detroit. His debut album was released in early May 2009 by Denmark based label Echocord. In 2010 he began his own interpretation of Detroit techno with his new Detroit project and record label – DeepLabs. With 13 years of DJ experience, he is regarded as a perfectionist in his Live sets and behind the decks layering his tracks in a very detailed and hypnotic manner. Luke has played at notable venues and events such as Culture Box (Copenhagen), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Unit (Tokyo), Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Detroit), Fabric (London), The End Up (San Francisco), Golden Pudel (Hamburg), Sirup (Zagreb), Weekend Club (Berlin), Cubic Club (Madrid), and The Bunker (NYC). Eesome Disk 1 - Mathias Matthew: (Summer Promo, 2011) Techno | Migrashun is pleased to present a brand new double disk promo from Mathias Matthew! This double disk promo is not your average set of mixes. Each disk offers a completely different experience showing the wide range of skills and music diversity that Mathias has to offer. Mathias Matthew has grown over the years to become one of the most technically skilled performers of this generation. Throughout the years he has gained experience working in production, promotion, and performance. Getting his start on the flyer team of Necto in Ann Arbor, Michigan paved the way for many things to come. Since then, we have seen Mathias perform at numerous venues in Detroit including: Bleu Room, The Works, Finite Gallery, DEMF 2004, State Theatre, Centre Street, and Oslo just to name a few. In addition to performing, Mathias also worked on numerous production projects including the likes of Departure (Works Monthly) and Brio. Working with Derek Fox, Brio produced the Drip events which brought a new unique spin to Detroit's electronic community. Brio used blank canvas venues to emphasize the performers while complimenting the venue with minimal eccentric visuals. After relocating to Chicago in the fall of 2008, Mathias has played at venues such as Vision, Tini Martini, Victor Hotel, Wax, Smart Bar and other hotspots. He has shared the decks with artists such as James Holden, Jake Fairley, Frankie Bones, John Digweed, DJ Three, John Acquaviva, Pawel, Phirter, Benny Benassi, Lucy, Luke Hess, Ryan Elliot, Paul Oakenfold, Kate Simko just to name a few. In 2008 and 2009 he worked as the Marketing Director of Volatl tm, which has helped him gain knowledge and experience of the industry in all its facets. Moving into 2009 we now see Mathias moving forward with his project labeled “Migrashun”. Over the past year Migrashun has became a force in the EDM scene in Chicago and shows no signs of slowing down. Mathias has now moved into incorporating Ableton and midi controllers into his live performances, playing what some might label a hybrid set of edits, tracks and samples in rapid rotation. SEED 034 - Alland Byallo - July 2011 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 034 by Alland Byallo. Dubbed an “elegant dark lord of the dance floor” by XLR8R Magazine, Alland Byallo is a DJ, producer, label owner, graphic designer and event organizer – a tour de force within the club and underground music scenes. Born in Los Angeles, Alland began his musical journey at a young age. Trying his hand at piano and trumpet as a young boy and influenced by the experimental electronic sounds of the late 80s and early 90s, Alland grew captivated with the world of dance music, bought his first pair of turntables and eventually began experimenting with basic production. While working at WAX Records, LA's now defunct authority on dance music, Alland's tastes matured, and a move to San Francisco in 2003 saw Alland's star rise quickly; while in SF, Alland honed his talents DJ-ing at respected venues stateside and overseas, started his own an underground dance music label named Nightlight Music and launched one of California's most inspired techno-focused nightclub events, the monthly [KONTROL]. Gaining global attention producing gems for definitive record labels like Poker Flat, Liebe*Detail, Dirt Crew and Missive, by the time Alland garnered four stars from influential web-based dance music magazine Resident Advisor for his original full-length album release, Brick By Brick (2009), Alland's devotion to the techno-house sound was plain and his fate as one of dance music's major talents was reasonably sealed. At the same time, Alland's ongoing DJ residency at [KONTROL] found him sharing the stage with a roster of talent that reads like a who's who in electronic music, leading to a solid demand for Alland at dance music gatherings around the globe – often as a headliner at renowned events and venues like Berlin's Panoramabar, Brazil's D-Edge, Detroit's annual DEMF Movement Festival, Munich's Harry Klein and Tokyo's La Fabrique, among many others. SEED 033 - Donor - July 2011 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 033 by Donor. Greg Schappert aka Donor was born in New York in 1979. Having lived in cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Tokyo and Brooklyn, where he currently resides, Greg has acquired quite a few musical influences. However, it was the mid to late 90's sounds of cities such as Birmingham, Berlin, Detroit and New York that laid the foundation for what originally sparked Greg's interest in electronic music and for what would later influence his production.After catching up with Tom Russell aka Truss sometime in 2006, the pair secured their first release on Jeremy P. Caulfield's Dumb-Unit imprint. Donor / Truss have gone on to release further well received records on labels such as the legendary NYC based Synewave as well as top UK label Perc Trax. Loved and respected by many, Tim Xavier's passionate personality and lifestyle has kept him on the forefront of techno since his first releases almost a decade ago. On the stage Tim is known for his undeniable talent as a once-hard techno mixer turned minimal trend-setter, playing a diverse blend of deep techno and house with classic technical skills.Behind the scenes Tim has made himself a great reputation as a mastering engineer doing mix-downs, digital and vinyl mastering for clients such as Electric Deluxe, Supplement Facts, Minus, and Clink. He has become an underground secret, a doctor of audio, and has had his hands on the output of many of our favorite artists. As a producer Tim's sound is admired, analyzed and followed, with a personal style that is overflowing with maturity and fluent simplicity. He is a techno Beethoven, deep, dark and emotional, and lets his tracks breath by manipulating a few simple ideas in each experience. SEED 030 - Dead Seal - April 2011 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 030 by Dead Seal. San Francisco producer Derrick Boyd (aka Dead Seal) plays maestro and master of ceremonies in San Francisco's underground techno scene. In the studio and in live performance, Dead Seal sings, plays clarinet, guitar, bass and laptop - creating a biomechanical cabaret for the dancefloor. His performance bravado blurs the line between a gritty rock show and the microprocessor-obsessed precision of techno. His powerful stage presence is part Iggy Pop and part Perry Farrell. More than just a unique personality, he brings control and dark seduction to his entranced crowds. Even the alias Dead Seal is part of this mystique, acting as "a symbol of my past, present and future lives - reminding me that I am more than just a man." Boyd has been a recording junkie since his teens, creating a volume of over a hundred tracks, which he jokingly refers to as his "Dead Seal Scrolls". "I am really hard on myself and demand a lot of myself before I die. But I assure everyone that the best has yet to come. I'm just getting warmed up." SEED 029 - Brendon Moeller - March 2011 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 029 by Brendon Moeller. New York based South African, Brendon Moeller has been seriously producing since 1994. His compositions have been released on Francois K's Deep Space Media; Third ear Records, Echocord, Mule Musiq, Leena Music, Eskimo recordings and then some. He records as Brendon Moeller, Beat Pharmacy and Echologist. Dub, techno, jazz, afrobeat and psychedelics are inspirations that appear in most of his music. Whether it be serious dancefloor bizniz, or dubbed out bass-scapes, his music always possesses a quality and signature that make him the force he is today. Falko Brocksieper's first vinyl record was released in 2001 on Sub Static label, which he founded in cooperation with Mia Grobelny at that time. Further releases quickly followed on labels such as Treibstoff, Tuning Spork, Resopal, Dumb Unit and Tongut. In 2003 he put out his first album “Hoax Deluxe”, refining his style between hypnotic minimalism and an edgy analog sound. After more than a decade of a solid career, Juan Pablo has developed a unique and personal style, mainly because of his very particular dj set, based on different subgenres into Techno. Pfirter is nowadays considered one of the argentinian producers with the biggest international projection, with releases on labels as CLR, Stockholm Ltd, Figure, Synewave, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Apnea and his own music plattform, MindTrip Music, among others. Kenneth James Gibson (born 8 October, 1973), better known as apendics.shuffle is an experimental, electronic, and dance music artist who has been releasing records since 1994. He founded the minimal techno record label Adjunct Records in early 2005 with friend Konstantin Gabbro, through Kompakt records. apendics.shuffle ("pendics.shuffle") is Gibson's main electronic music alias. Under this alias he creates a mix of minimal house and techno, micro house, and experimental electronic dance music. SEED 022 - Jason Short - November 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 022. Jason Short is a burgeoning San Francisco artist and the label manager for Auralism Records. For over 12 years he has been producing original material under his own name, along with the collaborative efforts Eutactic, Kyaro, and most notably Coalition of the Killing, who was named one of Beatport's “Minimal Artists to Watch” in 2009. During his career he's called a few music scenes his home, including Chicago and Miami, but Short's greatest contributions musically have been in San Francisco. SEED 018 - Lucy - October 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 018. For this special mix we have Stroboscopic Artefacts label owner Lucy. The term compressed dub has been coined by publications for describing Lucy's label, Stroboscopic Artefacts, the young Berlin-based imprint that has been making waves in the techno community over the past year. Supported by giants of electronic music such as Joris Voorn, Dj Hell, Steve Lawler, Derrick May, Laurent Garnier, Agoria, James Holden, John Digweed and more, Lucy is confirmed as one of the most interesting newcomers to the underground scene. SEED 017 - Joint Custody - September 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 017. Joint Custody was formed in 2007 when Joe Morgan and Matt Dillon (Matty) decided to join forces in the studio. In late 2007 their first single was signed to Traum Schallplatten out of Cologne, Germany. These 2 have been working hard ever since doing remix projects for Chris Fortier, Adultnapper and Mr. C. They gained more respect in 2008 with their unreleased remix of Audion's Billy Says "Go" that got play from select DJs worldwide. Moving forward they show no signs of slowing down and have completed a burner for the SEED series. SEED 016 - Applescal - September 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 015. Amsterdam based producer Applescal has prepared an exclusive LIVE set just for Migrashun. He grew up in Breda where he came in touch with electronic music and software synthesizers at the age of 14. Without any musical background and loads of dedication he learned to make music in a small loft at his parents place. His first ep got released on the dutch imprint Manual Music. More ep's and remixes followed on Deep Focus and Groove Collection. 2009 is the year that Riley Reinhold's imprint Traum Schallplatten knocked at the door. Besides making records, Applescal plays most of his productions in an award winning live set which is showcased here. Pär Grindvik or his pseudonym The Hollow has been a core person of the Swedish electronic scene since the nineties as record store-owner (Illegal Stockholm), label manager and producer. He is a well established artist and after many years of touring and releases on big name labels like Drumcode, Spectral Sound and his own label Stockholm LTD, which he created and founded in 2002, he is now based in Berlin, Germany. SEED 014 - Raw Hedroom - August 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 014. Raw Hedroom is the musical alias of Gareth Williams. Having immersed himself in electronic music and culture for more than ten years, Gareth has worn several hats in the electronic music industry. Right now, he produces techno for Cologne's Trapez label, builds custom performance systems for Richie Hawtin's Plastikman Live tour and steers the ship at Line - this man-machine has a thirst for challenges and won't let something as mundane as time hold him back.Artistically, Gareth is fascinated by the interface between music art and technology. In fact, he sees no real distinction. Music drives technology, which in turn drives the music itself. Being part of a team building their own technology really allows him to explore this intersection closer than most. The resulting sound is innovative, but always in touch with the dance floor. His preferred process of jamming live during the production process captures the human error, groove and happy accidents which are all too often missing from much of today's electronic music. SEED 006 - Jason Patrick - April 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 006. This is the six seed mix and has been put together by Klectik label boss and skilled DJ, Jason Patrick. This mix is on more of a deeper and sexy vibe, and inspired by some of his sets played at the Carroll Ave lofts. The mix also features a new track from Dilo vs Gurtz that will see release on my lablel, Klectik, in both vinyl and digital formats this month and next for digital! SEED 013 - Franklin De Costa - August 2010 | Migrashun is proud to release SEED 013. Franklin De Costa's first releases were way back in 1996 on his own label Fusion Records (w/ 303 Nation Member, Patrick Vauillaume). Under his Tichy moniker Franklin released various EPs on Frankfurt techno labels until the end of the 90s. His search for inspiration brought him to a very experimental production phase without the "4 to the floor“ preset. From this he developed his distinctive trademark sound with straight grooves and frisky sound design. Now concentrating on DJing and organising parties, Franklin began the extroverted phase of the studio nerd. With over 15 years of Techno on his shoulders and touring around the world, Franklin still lightheartedly follows his funky vision of dancefloor deepness. Franklin is now also exploring the field of live performances alongside his djsets. He is kicking off 2010 with 2 new side-projects (DCNT and Mudkid) . He also has new releases planned under his birth name on Curle Music, Connaisseur, Hypercolour and others and others as well as remixes for producers like Holger Zilske, Kris Wadsworth and René Breitbarth. long time listener, first time writer...
greatly enjoyed the "seed" series on facebook, now even more handy to have on my iPod...a great crew of kids largely based in Chicago, offering some dope beats and tight styling. perfect for those who are really into the electronic music scene or for someone just wanting a little something different and interesting (i recommend K-rAd), some of the dj's are producers as well and there is a glut of great material on each of the seed sets.
you won't be disappointed by a free download, and especially not by these. we look forward to the "seeds" that are yet to come, and maybe even a "second crop" from the dj's already featured?

Great Podcast
While this series of podcast/mixes is still in its intfancy it has really grown strong over the last year. Each podcast seems to have a seperate, but yet familiar tone that fit the sound of Migrashun perfectly. I would definilty recommned to any fan of Techno, Minimal, House, Tech-House or Deep house. From what I have heard they have a great lineup of artist on the way to do mixes. Really looking forward to what they have in store of us!

Been listening to the SEED series since it started just about a year ago. Every mix so far has been great and it seems like I'm always looking forward to the next would. I would highly recommened to any fan of techno, minimal, deep-house, electronica.
